Postby rockosaur » Mon Aug 04, 2025 2:47 pm

You walk up to an arcade game softly glowing, the words “Dig Dug” flash onto the screen. Just as you get close enough to hear the light humming of the electricity buzzing through the game a heifer comes barreling towards you. “Im so sorry darling it looks like the instructor for this game has gone missing! I’ve been looking high and low but no luck!” …. “But maybe I could still give you some pointers…how hard could it be!”
Despite being so out of breath she continues, “Well while your here mind if I talk your ear off? Everyone in this place is so focused on their games it gets lonely.” She looks at you expectedly “Oh you will! Really? Oh that’s great I have so much to ask you about-“

Prompt response:
Cheyanne pauses for a moment. Maybe she’s thinking, or maybe she’s admiring the attendees glorious hair.”Its something new! She barks out her answer excitedly. “Not much ever goes on round here in these parts. So it’s fun to go out a try something new again.” She stops again for a moment. She thinks to herself- what did happen to the original game conductor? She doesn’t have a clue but decides to err on the side of caution, just in case. “Ya know arcade food just slaps. It tastes so good for absolutely no reason. It’s almost comparative to festival food. Yeah it may be expensive but I think it’s worth it. Speaking of expensive can we talk about prize counter prices? I did the math you’re paying triple what you normally would in a store. But that’s the fun of it I guess.” Does she ever stop talking? She’ll probably go on for hours if you don’t stop her- Oh there she goes again. I’m also a big fan of these here games. I played a lotta old school games back in my day. I think Pac-Man may be my favorite but when I went over to play somebody was done yellin at the machine. Somethin about “collectin dots n chasing ghosts.” I dunno it’s like they was talkin to someone in the machine.” What a strange response.

Prompt response: "Hi there!! I'm the new hire over at the snack counter, and I juuust got on break. Boss told me it'd be wise to familiarize myself with any of the games I haven't played before so well, here I am!" He rubs the back of his head sheepishly, looking around the arcade. "Between you and me, I don't actually know too much about classic games, I mostly just play on my computer..." His voice trails off, and you see him snap back into focus as a machine nearby begins to flash enticingly. "Anyway, how hard could it be, right? Half of these games are 2D, so there should be a heck of a lot less to worry about than what I'm used to." You have to admire his blind confidence, at the very least, right? He'll figure out what he's dealing with soon enough. With a solid pat on the shoulder, you let him step up to the machine, and wish him the very best of luck, knowing sometimes, people learn best through failure.

Participating BM: Yurei
Prompt response:
Yurei looks wistfully around the arcade. Her eyes scanned the area. Buttermilks of all ages were at various games. She could hear the distant sound of games going off, button mashing, cries of anguish and buzzing neon lights as the bright fluorescent lights gave everything a colour tint. It wasn’t the most comfortable of places but she promised to try something she hadn’t done before. She had it written down on her 2025 bingo card and New Year’s resolution at the start of the year. It’s already August and the year was almost 3/4 done but hey, better late than never. Hence, she found herself in an arcade, in front of another heifer who is looking a bit frazzled but has the sweetest eyes.

“Mm…my name is Yurei. Nice to meet you. For starters, I decided to try something I’ve never done before. You can thank my persuasive friends for having me write it down in my 2025 bingo and New Year’s resolution but hey, no harm done. Could be fun too. Arcades were never something up my alley but there’s a first for everything. I’m sure your missing friend will show up eventually. For now, I think we can go through this game and how to play it together. Thank you.” (212)

Participating BM: Tallulah
Prompt response:
Tallulah stared into the distance, eyes vacant for a moment as her mind mulled over the question. She thinks back to the neon sign and the flashing light, to the empty car park and quiet streets. She thinks back to the hum that lured her in like a sirens call. Why did she follow?
That question circles within her mind – she had not intended on coming to the arcade tonight and yet here she was. The plan had been a quiet night of stargazing within the remnants of a town long forgotten. Tallulah had so many questions and yet, she had chosen to listen to her own hooves, to the hum and let herself be reeled in.

As she’d entered, Tallulah closed her eyes, embracing the hue of the lights as they lit up her back. A green spotlight hovered above her. Loud beeps echoed across the room as excitedly hooves battered against buttons and cheers radiated out across the building.

When everything began to still, Tallulah turned her attention back to the individual in front of her. Talullah could barely remember the question but after a moment of consideration, she let out a hum, followed by a half-hearted shrug.

“I am not sure why I am here,” she admitted, “But something tells me I cannot leave quite yet, and I am going to trust what brought me here.”

      Prompt response: {232 Words}
Icarus huffed, eyes scanning the mingling crowd of strangers for a familiar face he was certain had walked in here. But he was nowhere to be seen. He sighed, wondering if he had perhaps simply imagined seeing Hesperos enter, but regardless now he stood in the middle of this “arcade” completely out of his depth.

“What brings you to the arcade?”

The question rolled off his senses initially, not expecting to be addressed, until in his scanning of the crowd he was met with someone staring straight at him expectantly. He stared for a long, uncomfortable moment, before realizing that he probably needed to give some sort of response to make them leave.

      “I was following… a friend. But I don’t see him anymore…”

Punctuating his words he searched the crowd again. No sign of him. How in the heavens was his wayward kin so elusive without even trying? It would be impressive if it weren’t so downright annoying at times. But he wasn’t getting anywhere by staring, so maybe engaging with this “arcade” would give him some insight as to why Hesperos had come here and thus where he may have gone now.

Closest to him was the blinking game “Dig Dug” as well as the overly interested individual who was questioning his reason for being there… and, as he realized when he looked back, seemingly still seeking conversation. Oh dear.

Participating BM: Do-Si-Do
Prompt response:
Do-Si-Do, or as her friends call her, DeeDee, is definitely more on the quiet side. She isn’t shy by any means, but does tend to enjoy her own company far more often than socializing. She isn’t a book worm, but loves to consume digital media in all forms. She loves cold, rainy days where she has a perfectly good excuse to snuggle in to a warm blanket on the couch, pop some popcorn, pour herself some hot chocolate, and binge watch the latest popular TV series or movie.

DeeDee also really enjoys video games. She is very serious about her gaming set up - she built her PC herself and installed special shelving for her handheld consoles, controllers, and games. She likes to try lots of different types of games and loves starting brand new ones, learning the rules of how to play from the ground up.

Although DeeDee tends to prefer gaming in peace at home, she recently heard about a local arcade opening up, and she became curious. Interest piqued, she decided to stop in to see what all the fuss was about. She methodically did a few laps around the building, looking at all the games and machines available to her. She studied each, trying to determine which to play first. One interesting game, Dig Dug, caught her eye. This wasn’t a game that DeeDee had ever heard of before. As she got closer, she overheard that the rules of the game were not well understood, as the master of the game had somehow vanished. This got DeeDee even more interested, since she loves to learn new games, and thought that this would be the perfect level of challenge for her.

Participating BM: Beezlebub
Prompt response: While Beezlebub isn’t usually the sort to set hoof in a place like this, she can’t help but admit she’s having fun. A slight smile crosses her face as she settles down next to this strange cow and this strange game.

“A family outing,” she says with a slight laugh. “My daughter Crowley’s the most adventurous of all of us - she’s the only one who regularly leaves the safety of the cave, you know? Youth and their energy. Well, she wanted to go to this arcade here and my father Azrafell decided, what the heck, he’ll get out of his comfort zone and try something new. They dragged me along, so here I am.”

She shrugs, an awkward smile on her face as she watches the lights flash. “I lost my kid over at the dance machines with her friend. They’re having a blast, so I suppose I can’t blame them. And then my father’s gone and gotten himself attached to the claw machines like they aren’t rigged. Something something hoarding instincts? Anyways, I figure that they’ll be staying where they are for now so I can explore on my own. That’s why I’m at this game of all games.”

Prompt response:
Circe stopped mid step at the question. It wasn't that it was a particularly odd one. Or even that she didn't have an answer to it. It was just, well, nobody was supposed to notice her. That was sort of her whole thing. Her discretion and her ability to fly under the radar were impeccable. And here this stranger had picked her out of a crowd to pester. That wouldn't do, not at all.

Not even half a second after her faltering, she put her foot down and turned to give the stranger a polite, natural smile. Never let them see they've thrown you. Roll with the punches. Tsk. Right. She could do that. Was good at this. Odds are this stranger wasn't a threat anyway. The only question left was how honest to be. The words danced on her tongue, rolling around as she tilted her head in consideration. The usual then, hide the lie in a truth. Besides, she doubted Hermes had actually been by here yet. "Ah, well, I was supposed to meet my brother here." Circe let out a soft laugh, fondness and annoyance both slipping through her tone in tandem. "I don't suppose you've seen him? They're about ye high and probably wearing something ridiculous?"
