This was the most recent conversation between Xavier and my founder, Zaizy;

A moonlit clearing atop a cliff, where the wind rustles the trees. The stars glimmer above, casting silver light over two winged figures—one sleek and fiery, the other sturdy and steely.

Zaizy flicked her tail, landing with a graceful swoop. "Well, well, if it isn’t a knight in shining armor. Didn’t think I’d see the great Xavier all the way out here. What’s wrong? Lose your way?"

Xavier folded his wings, his armor clinking softly. "Hardly. I go where duty calls. The real question is—what is Zaizy the Fearless doing lurking in the dark? Nursing a bruised ego, perhaps?"

She snorts, adjusting her eyepatch with a claw. "Tch. As if. I was scouting." Her eyes flick to steal a glance at him. "Unlike some cats, I don’t need a metal shell to feel safe."

He smirks, sitting down with a measured air. "And yet, here you are, throwing barbs instead of admitting you missed me."

Her orange fur bristles, but she quickly smooths it before letting him see. "Miss you? Ha! The only thing I miss is the peace and quiet before you showed up clanking like a tin can."

Xavier chuckles, his tail curling- He's enjoying this. "Same old Zaizy. Too proud to admit she’s glad for company. But that’s fine. I’ll just sit here, keeping watch, while you 'scout'."

Zaizy huffs. She doesn't want to admit it, but he's right—just not about any company. She sits beside him after a pause. "…Fine. But don’t get any ideas, tin can. I don’t need backup."

Tin can smirks, knowing he's won. "Of course not. I’ll just enjoy the view then… and make sure you don’t trip over your own tail."

She narrows her good eye. "Watch it, Xavier."

Xavier, with a full-on grin, says, "Always."

The two sit in the moonlight, wings rustling, the playful tension between them as steady as the stars above. Zaizy's orange fur tinted with a hint of pink on her face.

Thorn looks up at Dune. She had been traveling for days on end with little food and water and was close to giving into her hunger, but that was before she met Dune. Dune had seen her sprawled out in the sand when passing by and tossed her some kind of dried meat and a canteen of water. Dune watched her eat in silence, before deciding to initiate conversation.

“What brings you out here? It's unusual to see lone cats so far from any oasis.” Dune asked. His voice was strong, but not harsh.

Thorn finished the canteen of water, before replying, “I do not know the desert very well, I am simply looking for somewhere safe from my clan. They went crazy, this was the one place they would not follow me.”

Dune gave a small nod before taking a moment to think. “So you are alone, correct?”

“Yes.. why do you ask?” Thorn gave him a puzzled expression.

“Well, I know where an unclaimed oasis is, and you look strong. I am asking you to help me begin a new clan there. I just need help.. getting rid of.. some strays there. In return, you will be my second in command. what do you say?”

"You don’t even know what’s lurking in the shadows."

Draven's father once had a fellow council member. a fierce warrior.. feared and respected. His pride and joy were his mate and their newborn kit, Thorn. Though council kits were raised together, Thorn and Draven became inseparable.
Thorn, compassionate at heart, overheard a secret no one else knew- That Draven was a vampire.

As they grew, their paths diverged. Thorn trained to become a Veilguard while Draven watched, restricted from joining. Then.. Thorn's father betrayed Draven's- vanishing along with Thorn's mother. To the citadel, Thorn was presumed dead too. But Draven’s relentless pleas spared him. A sentinel defied orders, taking Thorn in.. whether out of pity or defiance against Draven’s father? no one knew. Some whispered he had once been a friend of the council member himself.

Memories faded as a familiar voice called from outside Draven's room.

"Draven. I know that look." Thorn sighed.

Draven scoffed, stretching his wings. "What look?"

"The one that means you're about to do something reckless."

The sentinel's voice rumbled. "Young prince, don't You know your limits against your father."

"I know, I know…"Draven muttered.

The old warrior scoffed. Thorn chuckled, and for once, Draven felt a smile tug at his fangs.

"Come on old man. Don't you want to feel the air in your fur again?"

The sentinel exhaled. "I could. But I won't risk the consequences for myself- or either of you."

Thorn grinned. "Your father leaves in a few days. Save the escaping for later, yeah?"

The mood changed as Draven's smile fell. He couldn't stop thinking.

Draven’s tail flicked. "Something isn't right. I need to know what else my father is doing."

"Something horrible," Thorn muttered. "You know what he did to me. That’s exactly why you shouldn't go against him."

The sentinel nodded. "Thorn is right. Stay put."

Draven hesitated. "You don't even know what's lurking in the shadows..what he-"

"And you do?" Thorn challenged. Silence.

"Yeah. He’s MY father. You think I haven't seen what hes done? Every time I sneak out, I find something worse. I'm just a pawn to him."

Thorn sighed. "Look.. You don't have to tell me all the details. Just remember.. we're brothers, no matter what. You know that I'm always here for you.. right?"

Draven exhaled, relenting. "Yeah… you're right."

"We'll get through this together. We always have." Thorn reached a paw through the bars. Draven placed his on top in silent understanding.

The sentinel merely sighed in agreement.

Now that Draven thought about it- he'd always wanted a big family. To wake up to a feast, a welcoming community. Yet he wasn't given one. Maybe it was fate. Even if he had such a thing- he'd be considered a monster for his vampirism. Accused of becoming a beast they couldn't control. He was trapped on both ends.

Yet he had Thorn- and he had the sentinel.. And that's the biggest family he could ever have. He was determined to always be there for Thorn.

Gliding over the tundra, Moth spots a gleaming figure beneath her. Angling her wings, she begins a downwards spiral to approach.
"Who are you?" She asks suspiciously, landing before the clanking, tall feline. After a moment, the cat responds, reaching up with a paw and removing their mask.
"..Thrush." Moth tilts her head, appraising Thrush.
"You're in my territory," she grumbles, now eyeing the snowy ground.
"Its snowy, abandoned land. There's no one territory here." Responds the metallic cat, somewhat bitterly.
"Fine," huffs Moth. knowing she would stand no chance against the cat if she were to argue. "You can have passage through. ..And," she adds, "If you need somewhere to stay, my tribe is off that peak to the west." Moth guestures vaugely with her tail, paws at the ground, and lifts off silently, resuming her patrol. Thrush huffs a quiet chuckle, replacing his mask over his muzzle with a small shake of his head, and continues his journey.
