the torrent of rain softened, fading to a muted pitter-patter. gunmetal clouds rolled through the somber dawn sky, taking with them the cacophonous rumbling of thunder. the storm had ceased, at least for now. stepping from her den, cenotesplash’s paws met the marshy ground, claws sinking into moss dampened by the night-long rain. the scent of waterlilies in the breeze, the gentle mist of rain still thickening the morning air - it was perfect.

looming, endlessly tall above her, the canopy of trees left dappled shadows upon the ground of her camp; the salix veil's home lay in the midst of a thriving wetland, overgrown and untamed. the little light that did trickle through bathed the glade in a honeyed glow, soft and ichor-sweet. the boughs of the weeping willows dipped down to the swampy floor, wavering with each soft whisper of wind. she crossed the camp’s threshold, nose twitching and eyes squeezed shut as she took in the outside scents; fresh magnolia blooms, the needles of pine trees across the grove, a fallow deer. fresh and inviting, washed anew by the rainfall.

she made her way to her namesake, the vibrant cenote just west of camp. the water glistened under light pouring in through the carved holes in the cave's ceiling above, frigid and still; waiting just for her. this loch, it’s lichen-lined stone and hazy teal waters - this was her home. each night she'd travel here to chart the stars, the windows in the ancient stone above offering a neat snapshot of the inky night sky. on lucky days like this, when the weather was just dreary enough to keep her clanmates cozy in their nests, she could sneak away and spend the day here too. a perfect day, spent in solitude.

Prompt: Embra's perfect day consists of sharing stories with the kits. Sure, it is her job, but she loves to see the way their eyes grow wide or their little teeth poke out as they grin. It's even better when the kits come back to beg for more stories outside of their typical story-sharing. It's important to her that the legacy of the clan is continued, and the wonder and fear of the kits fills them with a warmth far better than that of the sun. A day spent deep in the patches of reeds that border the lagoon provides the perfect setting to play out the story for the kits, and they always laugh or squeak as the story plays out. A day spent in the bewilderment of the kits, under the careful watch of many gazes as she recounts the highs and lows of the clowder is the perfect day to this cat.

well, there's not much to do in the barren wasteland of the abandoned civilization, but she'd tell you, that her perfect day consists of a decent breakfast of mouse, a nice, clean find without the mercs having to do any work on the "hunt", and a decent find for the inventors, and end it with a nice, warm cuddle pile. no one would ever admit it to Havoc, but he is a very warm cuddle partner when leaning against him. he's like a surface heater in a cat's body, 10/10, would recommend.

she’d wake up next to them, and the trio of felines would go out hunting.

their eyes would be full of life, shining bright, not dead and glassy.
their pelts are well-groomed, save for a few stray twigs and leaves stuck in lovage’s.
there wasn’t a single splatter of crimson or the smallest scratch on their pristine fur.

they smelled of the forest, not the metallic tang of blood.

they would go fish by the creek, accompany allium to gather herbs, and finally, hunt for softclan.



they’d play, banter and laugh, and their hunt would be fruitful, each of them bringing back a plump squirrel and a fat bird. the chirping of larks and the rustling of the gentle wind through the trees would follow them.

they had no idea what the screams and cries, the yowls and shouts of battle sounded like, and they were no longer embedded in aubade’s ears.

the clan would eat well tonight, and every cat was satisfied.

it would be a packed day, but in the end everything would be worth it. they would all cuddle up in a pile of fur and fluff, sharing their warmth with each other, and their breathing would lull her to sleep as the moon shines down on them.

the three of them were always together. allium, lovage and rosemary aubade.

unfortunately, one can only dream about the perfect days of the past, that she will never get to experience anymore.
after all, they are gone now.
she’d escaped with scars. her mates weren’t so lucky.

but oh, aubade would give anything to see her beloveds again, even one last time.

Can't imagine a time without you..

Elowen loved her job dearly, the children were always sweet and innocent souls. Although, today she could finally relax. The younglings had finally all calmed down and were done running around excitedly. As much as she adored the younglings, Elowen knew how valuable it was to be separate.

But today.. today both her and the guard had planned time together. Elowen could already see the form moving just outside the nursery. She could already feel a smile creep onto her face. Maybe she was "simple", but Elowen couldn't help but be excited to finally spend the day away from the nursery. She finished up with the younglings before exiting the nursery.

Just as she left, thats when she spotted Odessa. Elowen couldn't help but grin as the sight of Odessa, it had been ages since they'd spent more than an hour together. She was able to finally relax as she smiled at Odessa. "How're you?" Elowen chirped warmly.

"I'm good, and how are the younglings?" Odessa asked, not able to resist the smile that crept onto her face at the sight of Elowen. There was a pause before Elowen answered.

"Come see them," she suggested softly, her tail swaying. Odessa couldn't deny that face and just chuckled reluctantly, agreeing to pop inside quick. Right as both of them stepped in, younglings nearly immediately swarmed to them, tugging at Odessa. Voices overlapped as they all attempted to grab her attention for themselves.

Odessa couldn’t help but chuckle at all the tiny bodies surrounded her. It was impossible to ever stay angry around those faces and she gave each of them a ride on her back. It was probably more than an hour later when all the younglings were ushered off again. Elowen laughed softly at Odessa’s reaction and bumped her with her shoulder.

Within a moment she steered both of them back outside. They walked side by side, even though it was just in silence, the moment was savoured by both of them. Even in silence the two connected and enjoyed each others presences. Elowen glanced over at Odessa and smiled, swaying her tail.

“What do you wanna do?” She chirped softly, tilting her head slightly. By now the sun was setting and it dipped below the surface.

“Let’s just watch the sky together..” Odessa replied with a gentle smile. Elowen couldn’t help but feel that was the perfect idea. Spending time with Odessa was good enough for her.

Odessa led them to an open patch just outside the walls, a place with no trees. The river could be heard faintly passing by and Elowen could feel her worries slip away. They settled in the grass, side by side. Their tails entwined together, they enjoyed the warmth of the other.

Even after the sun set, they enjoyed the sight of the stars, talking quietly about the constellations. That was when a shooting star crossed the sky, and it didn’t even need to be spoken for both of them to glance at each other. Elowen couldn’t help but give a silly grin before pressing her nose against Odessa. The quiet affection added something to their silence as they both made a wish on the star.

This was her perfect day. One spent with Odessa. Even though it was quiet, the time they spent together was enough to make her content.

Prompt: SpeckleFlight's perfect day is a rather relaxing one.
She'd start off relaxing in the sun, then she'd gather some herbs and talk to some of the other cats about their day, she wants to do this since she wants to cheer up cats that have some problems, she'd also decorate her den with flowers and fix it up a little bit, she likes to fix her den up. then, it probably ends with her sleeping relaxingly.
