Prompt: Leaptuft grumbled underneath her breath as she eyed the towering trees high above her. "Why do we have to do this? It’s dangerous... and pointless," she muttered, uneasy about the thought of tree-hopping. The senior warrior who sat beside her, watching as the warriors up above practiced, chuckled at her. "Tree-hopping is about more than just getting around, y'know? It's about agility and seeing the forest differently. But- if it's not your thing, that's okay."
Relieved, Leaptuft focused on her
real skills, like hunting and fighting, dismissing tree-hopping as nothing more than reckless.
But one evening, she watched th warriors leap smoothly through the branches, their movements almost
magical. Something stirred within her -- admiration and curiosity. Maybe tree-hopping wasn't so bad after all-?
It took some courage, but eventually she pushed her hesitation aside and the next day, asked the senior warrior from the day before to teach her about tree-hopping. Slowly, she began to enjoy the thrill of leaping through the air, from branch to branch, the wind rushing through her fur. But one day, her excitement led to a mistake. Despite multiple warnings from the senior warrior about being careful after it had rained, Leaptuft brushed him off. She was sure she would be fine.
After spending some time hopping from tree to tree, she scoffed. "I told him I'd be fine."
She prepared for her next hop, wiggling her hindquarters before launching herself off of the branch. Though, Leaptuft hadn't noticed that the branch she was planning to land on was not yet dry, causing her to slip before realizing. Before she could recover, she fell to the ground,
severely injuring her leg.
The injury cost Leaptuft her leg, leaving her devastated. But as she healed, her love for tree-hopping didn't fade not one bit. Determined, she learned to leap on three legs, and soon, the trees became her
sanctuary. Every leap filled her with a sense of
freedom -- she had found her true passion.
