You hear a rustling in the bushes behind you. Before you can think to panic, a small black creature pops out. "Boo!" cries Halfkit with a burst of laughter. "Did I scare you?" She asks without regard for the answer.

"Anyways, I have some questions about your colony, do you mind answering them?"

REWARDS

There are two types of rewards for quests: Experience and Bells.

Experience is received for every quest based on a set of ratios. Writing is evaluated at 50 words to 5 exp.

Art has a more complex equation:

• A Headshot or bust is worth 5 exp, a half-body is worth 10 exp, and a full-body is worth 15 exp. These stack per cat drawn.
• A clean sketch adds 2 exp.
• A lined or clean lineless drawing adds 5 exp.
• Rough color adds 3 exp, clean color adds 5 exp.
• Simple shading adds 3 exp, complex shading adds 5 exp, full rendering adds 10 exp.
• Props add 5 exp.
• A simple background adds 5 exp, a complex background adds 10 exp.

Animations will be evaluated at a piece by piece basis due to complexity.

Bells are received by quest submissions that show extra effort or fit the given quest well.

RULES AND TIPS

1. The writing must have been done by you.
2. The writing must be related to your clan or a Runaways cat which you currently own.
3. Please submit all your quest responses for the month in the same post.
4. Answer each quest for the month only once.
4. You MUST have already claimed your founder in order to recieve exp.
5. Experience that can be claimed in leveling!
6. Quests rollover at 00:00 on the 1st of the month (cs time). An announcement will be made when the new month's quests are up.

Response: The Festival of Hearts takes place one moon after the first snowfall of the year. It is a celebration- of romantic, platonic, and familial love. Traditionally, it begins at dawn's rise and dusk's set, with plenty of games and food in-between the two times.

At the rise of dawn, the festivities begin as cats dig into a feast, usually consisting of rabbits and thrushes. Cats traditionally eat with their loved ones they would like to celebrate the festival with.

After this is the first game, in which a pair or trio of cats (usually either lovers, siblings, or friends) compete against other teams in who can find a hidden rose on the territory first, usually hid by either the leader or second-in-command. The winning team gets first pick at the evening feast.

After this, around midday, elders share stories of how the Festival of Hearts came to be. "The Cardinal that Flew over the Sun" is an old tale passed through generations and while certain details have been lost over time, the general gist goes like this:

"Separated by the moon and sun, the Jay and Cardinal longed to be one.
Begged by the Cardinal, the sun granted the red-plumaged bird a day to unite with the Jay.
As the Cardinal flew over the sun and to the moon, the moon refused to let the Cardinal visit its lover.
Envious of the freedom of the birds, the moon caged the Jay and turned away, refusing to let the two unite.
Flying back, the Cardinal begged to the sun to talk to the moon, but to no response.
It was night, and the sun had fallen asleep. Determined to free the Jay, the Cardinal flew to the moon.
The moon guarded the Jay for hours before it began to doze off.
The day was coming, and the moon could not help but fall asleep.
Noticing the moon's rest, the Cardinal flew to the caged Jay.
With help from the Cardinal, the Jay was freed from its chains.
Leaving the moon behind, the two flew far away, ready to start a new life together."

The story is a reminder of how love is one of the strongest emotions a cat can experience. Through love for another cat, you can accomplish near anything.

After the storytelling, cats bask and share tongues together. It is a time of tranquility and peace, resting up for the next event of the Festival of Hearts; the Weaving of Ties. During this event, cats craft various little trinkets for their loved ones. Common trinkets are vine necklaces and flower crowns.

After this, at the setting of dusk, cats share tongues one last time before heading to sleep. This marks the end of the Festival of Hearts.

Located deep in the jungle, Sunclan camp is secluded from human contact. It was once a popular tourist attraction due to its beautiful waterfalls. It was abandoned when rumors spread that it was dangerous because people kept slipping on the wet rocks. There is a tunnel behind the main waterfall that Sunflower often uses to get back to the human place where she once lived. Quite a few Sunclan cats were raised by or in close proximity to humans. While they maintain some caution since they did leave their homes and want to maintain their freedom, they aren’t too concerned about coming into contact with them.

As Moonbeam looked around camp, she felt something was missing. There were a few couples in the clan, but no kits or younger cats running afoot yet. Maybe they didn’t have enough alone time to themselves. This wouldn’t do for very long. This must have been another reason Starclan sent her. Sunflower had recruited plenty of adults, but the clan wouldn’t last without a younger legacy to step up when the time came. Nevermind that their leader and deputy were young and healthy. Anything could happen.

Magmatuft watched Moonbeam leave camp in the dead of night. He wondered what she was up to. Briefly thought that maybe she should not go out alone, but surly she would have asked if she needed someone to go with her. Maybe the spirits she talked to would keep her safe?

In the morning, Moonbeam jumped onto the Speaking Rock. “Clanmates, please gather. I have a message from the Stars themselves.”
Once the clan had settled themselves nearby to hear what she had to say, she spoke again. “Starclan has called for Sunflower and Ginger to catch them a purple minnow from the creek. They must bring the minnow to the northern cavern to receive their blessing.”
Sunflower blinked. Why did Starclan demand such a thing? Especially from her, one of the weakest fishers in the clan?
“What use do dead cats have for a dead fish?” Ginger questioned.
“It is not for me to say. All I know is that the purple minnow is sacred.”
Well… that did not make total sense, but it would not hurt anyone to oblige. “If the stars call for this, I will do it,” Sunflower meowed. She looked around at her clanmates. “Oceanbreeze, will you take charge while we are away?”
“Oh!” Oceanbreeze looked surprised. “Sure!”

Oceanbreeze made sure the patrols were sent out to hunt and patrol. Once everyone had full bellies, she had them form teams with another cat and play a bonding game she came up with.

Sunflower and Ginger spent the afternoon at the creek, talking about life and making jokes. They never caught sight of the purple minnow. As the sun began to set, they traveled to the cavern. Large leaves covered the entrance, making it feel secluded. It was filled with glowing crystals, a super soft nest, flower petals littering the ground. There was even the most refreshing pool of water to drink from.

Sunflower and Ginger caught onto the fact that Moonbeam set them up, but they took it in stride. The den was cozy and beautiful, and it would be a shame for them to be the only ones to visit it. When they returned to camp, they declared that every six moons, another pair must make the journey. It didn’t have to be a romantic pair. It could be siblings or best friends. It could even be two cats who tended to squabble… maybe the trip would make them put aside their differences? It became a bonding opportunity. That morning, the leader would announce the chosen couple. The clan would provide a special meal for them before they left. Afterward, the cats behind at camp would play games.
