“Oh no, look at me—I’m absolutely soaked!” Aurora exclaimed as she stepped into the camp, her fur clinging to her like a second skin. She shook off some of the water, but it was clear she had had a rough day.

As she recounted the events to the few cats who were gathering around her arrival, her eyes sparkled with a mix of frustration and amusement. “It all started when I was tracking a rabbit near the riverbank. The scent trail led me right to the water’s edge, and I thought I’d be clever and cross to the other side. But the river had other plans! The current was stronger than I’d anticipated, and halfway across, I slipped on some slick rocks and went tumbling right into the water.”

Aurora paused, taking in the curious faces around her. “I tried to swim back, but the current kept pulling me downstream. I finally managed to claw my way out on the opposite bank, but by then, I was completely drenched and my paws were freezing.”

With a chuckle, she added, “Well, I’m definitely going to need a warm spot to dry off. Once I’m not dripping everywhere, I’ll share the full story of my unexpected swim and how I almost became a fish! No wonder I'm not a Streamweaver...”

It was supposed to be a simple patrol. Just out to the border and back again no problem. Things were calm right now. Peaceful even, she'd dared to think. Of course, she'd failed to properly account for him.

"I'm sorrrry," he whined, trotting behind her, sounding not very sorry at all. She had known Flashfire for most of both their lives and and his barely concealed laughter was a sound she knew well. Jerk.

She snapped her gaze to look at him, venom in her eyes making him shrink into a pitiful look of put upon shame. "You pushed me. Into the creek," she hissed, eyes narrowing.

"It was an acc-"

"Oh don't give me that. You were giggling."

"Accidents can be funny," he replied, not even bothering to repress his grin.

She stared a beat and then grinned back, leaning toward him casually. "You know..." She closed the distance between them and then promptly shook herself, splattering water everywhere and earning her an indignant "Hey!!!" from her old now equally soaked friend nuisance, "For once you're right."
