3. Locate his mouse friend, Squidge, typically in the least convenient place possible
4. Bicker with Squidge all the way back to his den
5. Trip over the kit(s) who evaded his notice and invaded his den
6. Remove the kit(s) from his nest, where they have gotten entirely too comfortable
7. Banish said kit(s) back to the nursery (blustering is optional but highly recommended)
8. Perform nightly stretches to maintain limberness
9. Wither under Squidge's disapproving glare
10. Feel terrible about ousting said kit(s) from their cozy hideaway
11. Eventually relent, step outside, and trip over the same kit(s) a second time
12. Invite said kit(s) in for a story before bed- but only one!
13. End up telling at least three stories, with Squidge pantomiming the more dramatic scenes
14. Carry the kit(s) back to the nursery when they're too sleepy to protest
15. Return to his nest for a second time, this time uninterrupted
16. Groom himself thoroughly (...even if the shock of fur atop his head always looks like it went three rounds with a badger)
17. Curl up in his nest, leaving just enough room for Squidge to wriggle in next to him
18. Fall asleep using Squidge in place of a teddy bear
19. (unwittingly remind the world that prickly beasts have soft underbellies and softer hearts)
20. (look forward to repeating the entire process tomorrow)

1. Upon the sun setting, verify all the cats are asleep. If some aren't, usher them to bed.
2. Go out on patrol. Find herbs the medics were unable to locate during the day.
3. Like clockwork, Lily always trips over the same bramble, leaves etching their way into her fur. Huff, move on.
4. Bring the herbs back to the clan and into the medic's den. Look for Small. He's always in there.
5. Prevent her mouse friend Small to stop gnawing on the herbs when she inevitably finds him in the medic den.
6. Move Small back to his home in a burrow beneath a tree, where cats never think to look for a mouse.
7. Tend to the clan's graveyard. Make sure all graves are marked, donned with flowers of loving mourning.
8. Check to make sure the cats of the clan are still sleeping, and no one has seen her.
9. Retreat into her own den to slumber.
