cedarclan was by no means a hostile group; not in the least. but they certainly understood how to mind their own business when their safety was at stake. fogpool, among the youngest of the clan's warriors, was a remarkably talented fisher. earning himself the role of that same name, he received a valuable privilege privilege in return. cedarclan's leadership placed great importance on respecting the clan's territories, as others groups in the area did the same. one of the few exceptions to this rule was fishers being granted permission to explore the dead space that lay between cedarclan's territory and the land that belonged to other nearby groups. this limbo, largely unexplored, was typically much richer in fish during the seasons where prey was fewer.

one otherwise unremarkable greenleaf day, fogpool was paddling through the shimmering pools created by a shallow stream in this area. he had only ever enountered another cat here once, and it was another member from cedarclan who had joined him in a hunt for the juvenile coho that could be found just upstream. his guard was down; but he couldn't help it. his proficiency at fishing was almost entirely due to his love of swimming, which simply granted him more practice at his job during his apprenticeship. fogpool inhaled deeply before submerging himself completely, revelling in the feeling of the chilled water sinking into his fur and cooling him. he soon after reached the surface and lazily exited the water, slowly stretching in the sun on the rocky embankment nearby. his eyes remained closed as he shook the water from his fur.

as he slowly opened them and prepared himself to re-enter the water, fogpool's heart skipped a beat; he was nearly nose-to-nose with another wide-eyed face. he yowled and stumbled backwards, rather ungracefully hitting the water. he scrambled to put together the words to explain how he apologized if he'd entered their territory, and would be heading back to his shortly... before realizing the young cat in front of him was simply watching him amusedly. he coughed out the water that he'd inhaled during his fall, spitting out a question in the process.

"who are you?"

he didn't mean for his tone to be as rude as it was, and the cat across from him scoffed. "i could ask you the same thing, you realize? this isn't your territory."

the two shared a short conversation before fogpool eventually retreated to cedarclan's camp. the stranger had been a member of a far-off clan that they referred to as the barrens; here on a mission to collect some herbs from the forest that were unable to grow in the drier climate the other clan lived within. fogpool had heard the name of this clan before, though the stories he'd heard from elders as a kit regarded this clan as savage loners. while the cat he'd spoken to was strange, they weren't barbaric or threatening as he would've expected. he'd squinted at the rehearsed-sounding speech they'd given regarding their leader's greatness, but certainly wasn't going to question them regarding the topic. fogpool never shared this story with his clan, afraid of losing access to his favourite swimming holes over an unassuming visitor.

while he didn't vocalize it to his clanmates, the experienced gnawed away at fogpool on occasion. though he knew it was foolish, the tom wished his clan was more open to exploring relations with groups like the barrens. cedarclan remained as closed off as it was in order to protect its members, but the thrill of meeting someone new stuck with him. and he craved it.

Navigator's abilities center around navigation, quite sensibly. This includes the simple mapping from location to the next as well as the more complex trans-realm travel, which he rarely facilitates due to its danger.

He loves his powers because he loves traveling and exploring, but he does sometimes wish he could do more. His powers are sorely lacking when it comes to helping outside of travel. He cannot heal, he holds no power over disputes, he cannot even manipulate an element.

He has never more strongly wished he could help than when First blessed the wrong fey-cat with strong charisma and leadership abilities. The fey-cat had professed selfless intentions, but used the blessing for a tyrannical reign. Although the fey-cats were under Hunt's protection, the constellations tended to hover over them more closely than other races because they were the most strongly connected to the stars, second only to the fey. Navigator took on a temporary mortal form to try to persuade the tyrannical fey-cat, but he was not gifted with words and was greatly inferior to First in terms of power, even just facing a blessing. He was forced to watch from afar as the leadership of the fey-cats collapsed after the tyrants defeat and the most gifted fey-cats were locked away under the premise of safety by the council who had once been mere legislators and advisors. All he could do was facilitate the movements of the fey-cats leading the growing reformation.
