Prompt: "Eveningdawn, when I grow up, I wanna be just like you!"
That was a little less than 3 years ago. Before the clan split because no one could agree on the solution to the ever present problem the clan was facing. Prey was scare, even in newleaf, and many were starving. My mom had enough, she took me and left. Now, here I am, years later. Back in the clan where it all started. And there she is, Eveningstar now. Would she recognize me? What would she think? "Oh there's that apprentice that ran off years ago?" Gosh, I hope not. Well, here goes nothing.
"Hello? Uh, I was told that this is the territory of Aetherclan?" I stutter out, hoping I dont look as nervous as I feel. Eveningstar comes into view, and my heart stops. She got... really pretty... woah. Her fur creates a halo around her perfect face... and those eyes... It takes me a minute to realize I'm staring, but I think she was doing the same. I smile nervously and tilt my head, hoping to look friendly. Before I know it, I'm being tackled to the ground, or more like the snow.
She's barreled me into a snow bank, and usually I'd be furious, but not now. I open my eyes and see that she's laughing, and it's the sweetest sound I've ever heard. It's like summer rain, the sweetest morning dew. Its fantastic, and I start laughing with her. For a second, it's just the two of us, laughing in the snow. We stand up and look at each other for a second before I step forward and pull her into me with my head. In that moment, nothing else is real. It's just us.
She pulls away and I see her look me up and down, before she starts laughing. She points at my fur and I realize that there's snow all over me. I try to shrug it off, but some is stuck to my pelt. I sigh but she just giggles and motions for me to follow her. I do, and what I see amazes me. Its Aetherclan, but it looks so much better than I remember it. The vines shielding the medicine cat den from the icy breeze look healthy, the prey pile looks full, and the cats look young and spry.
"After I became leader, and recruited some cats, Aetherclan started to thrive again," Eveningstar said, looking proud. "You've done amazing, I couldn't even recognize the medicine cat den," I responded, eyes wide with awe. She chuckled, and I felt my face grow warm. This goes on for a while, her showing me the new territory, which in all honesty isnt too different. Like the same room, just a different coat of paint. When she shows me a part, I mention how its changed, she explains how it happened, and we get off topic and go on and on.
Eventually, shes shown me all there is to see. We head to the rocks that overlook her den and lay down together. She looks so at peace, so much happier than she was. She finally asks, "So, you've come crawling back?" We laugh for a second, and I nudge her shoulder. "I mean, yeah, basically. I guess I just couldn't stay away," I joke. She smiles and gets this far off look on her face. "I'm glad you're back Fro- oh, wait, you never did get a warrior name, did you?" She chuckles and shakes her head, embarrassed. I laugh too to make her feel better before speaking, "Nope, never did. That's alright though! You can call me Frost." I tell her. She smiles, and leans into me. I feel warmer, and I know it's not just her warmth seeping into my pelt.
The next morning, I'm met with snow in my face. She's managed to toss up some snow and hit me with it, and it looks like shes having a blast with it. I get up and chase after her. Soon, we're playing in the snow, acting like kits. With snow all over me, and Eveningstar's eyes shining like diamonds, I knew coming back was the right choice.
