Prompt: Chachar met Chirpy before he even hatched; more specifically, Chachar hatched Chirpy himself. Lissidom is a clan with a long history of favoring animal companions; both the leader and deputy have a companion, and so do many of the highly respected warriors. Companions are an eternal friend, and have talents that can greatly aid a warrior in hunting and scouting. Bird companions like the leader's were the most exalted.

When Chachar was still just a kit, one of the warriors on the hunting patrol brought back an abandoned bird nest. They'd been watching the nest for the past two days, they said, and the parent birds were nowhere to be seen. So they brought the nest back, for the kits to hopefully hatch a companion for themselves. Chachar was beyond honored. While his littermates didn't seem to care too much, and continued to play around everyday, Chachar carefully warmed the egg every minute he could with his belly. It was an awkward position, trying to keep himself off the ground enough to not crush the egg or put any weight on it, but also trying to be close enough to warm it properly. His muscles were constantly sore, but he perservered.

It was a few weeks later when the egg hatched. The only egg of the nest of three to hatch, due to Chachar's dedicated efforts, and out came a little hatchling Chachar named Chirpy. Chirpy imprinted on Chachar, and from then on, they grew up together as the best of friends.

xx larksong met larkspur on a stroll through the woods as an apprentice. they'd always been known to be overly empathetic, to the point of crying over any injured animal they found, while other cats would instead quickly put it out of its misery. one day, while wandering the forest in search of inspiring materials for their craftwork, they came across a young, injured bird. the poor little thing, a little songbird with a coat reminiscent of their own and head stripes to match, had a broken wing. as an empath as a healer apprentice, they felt obliged to take the small creature under their metaphorical wing and help him heal. surprisingly, when they went to scoop him up and carry him back to camp somehow, he showed absolutely no fear or hesitation and hopped right up onto their shoulder, nestling in comfortably.

xx the little bird quickly grew even more comfortable around them, seeming to think they were a personal heater in the colder seasons, and never left their side. some of larkpaw's friends jokingly called the bird 'little larkspur,' but the name stuck. larkspur has accompanied larksong since they rescued him, even sitting on their head during the ceremony that gave them their new name: larksong, a nod to the chattery little bird they saved.

xx over time, after a relatively quick recovery, larkspur became a normal part of larksong's day. they'd wake up together, larkspur perched comfortably on larksong's shoulder, singing a gentle melody as a wake-up call. then the two would head out into the surrounding woods, not straying too far from camp, finding the little bird some seeds or insects to feast on while larksong searches for something for themself. they'd continue to go about their day as normal, just with a newfound companion by their side. any time larksong goes to buy or scavenge for materials for jewelry, larkspur's keen eye for shinies comes in handy. he picks out his favorite jewels and charms in shops and spots the prettiest wires and beads outside camp. the little bird helps them assemble countless pieces by holding wires or charms in his mouth. the bird has become an essential part of larksong's life and seems quite content with his life on larksong's shoulder or head, reluctant to leave his savior for more than a moment.
