It's harmless, surely not meant to upset him. And it never does, but he feels a little bashful about answering it, knowing that he doesn't have some heroic story of saving someone from a car or from sustaining a wound in an important battle. No, it was from an infection. An opportunistic one that came from a deep nick he sustained while gardening, that grew into something that almost killed him. He doesn't mind it much now, since he can still do the things that he loves: gardening, reading, skateboarding. Still, it's always a little awkward when he hears that question, how'd you lose your arm?
