Prompt:Hawk could hear the crackling of the grass under their paws as they crept closer, closer, ever closer.
They had come here to do one thing, and one thing only - sent by the leader of the Galleon, they were ordered to help bring down the fall of the group, at whatever cost it took.
They pressed down lower to the ground, hitching their breath - waiting, just a moment longer - then they sprung, grabbing onto the cat who'd poorly decided to cross paths with them today. In their haste they did not check to see WHO it was they had attacked, but at this point it was too late - they'd grabbed on, and would fight like hell to stay attached.
"Hey!" The other party snarled, bucking to throw them off. It was easy work for them, as it turned out to be someone else entirely - instead of the leader of the Veil, they'd found someone who'd they'd never want to trifle with.
Before them was Kali, of L Corp infamy.
"What do you think you're doing?" She snarled, dropping into a crouch in front of them. Hawk refused to back down, however, and they puffed themself up. "You're on my turf, kid."
"I'm not a kid!" Hawk snapped in response, tail lashing. "I'll have you know that I have an important job I need to be doing."
"Really now?" Kali seemed unimpressed. "Seems like you're doing poorly at that."
"Shut up!" A huff. "I just need to find someone from the Veil, and then once I get rid of them.."
"Interesting." Kali seemed to pause, genuinely mulling over what they'd said. "You want to get rid of the Veil?"
"Why?"
"Maybe I'd be interested in lending a hand." She responded.
"Really?"
"Mhm."
It wasn't long before Hawk and Kali met again, this time to discuss plans more thoroughly. Hawk had wanted to go for their healer, a fluffy girl named Moxie, but Kali had another idea.
"Go after his kid."
"What?"
"Go after Triptych's kid, Meteorite." Kali quirked a brow. "He was devastated after the first one went missing. If you go for the second one, it should be easy to get rid of him entirely."
Hawk gave pause, wondering if this was a good idea. They knew why he'd been upset about the first one - she lived in their own camp. But they shook off any potential guilt they'd feel as they nodded to Kali, interested. "Good idea. You have any way to get her out of camp?"
"I can say Carmen wants to speak with her." Kali responded a moment later. "Then I can lead her to you, and we can get rid of the Veil entirely."
Hawk gave a contented chirp, their tail flicking by their paws. "Alright. Three days from now and we can make a move, I think."
"Perfect."
On Kali's signal, Meteorite had been lead straight to where Hawk was lying in wait.
Closer, closer..
Kali caught their eye in the bushes, and she seemed to give a nod.
And at that moment, Hawk sprung without hesitation.
