Firstly they got the Swift part of their name from being the first kit in her litter to start moving around and amused her mother by how fast she clung to her. The dove comes from their last hunt as an apprentice, a particularly harsh winter left the clan desperate for food and during the hunt the then apprentice managed to injure the dove they were hunting. Unfortunately it managed to fly away and despite her mentor telling her to let it go she pursued it long after the others stopped, managing to bring it home and she now wears its feather in her tail as a symbol of pride.

Mothcurl actually chose her own name. Which she thought was super cool when she was a much younger cat, though she did hit a point where she had been embarrassed and ashamed about it.. she had demanded to choose her name instead of letting the stars do it for her. It got to the point that she begged her old leader to change it. But they refused, saying that she had chosen that name for a reason, and it was up to her to step up and accept herself for who she was, not who she could be or what she thought the ancients expected of her.

As she continued to get older, she had taken those words to heart, found her way in life and found her way into her current clan. No doubt, it took some hardships, getting and losing plenty over her many moons, but she wouldn't change it for the world. It was her life and it was her name to bear through everything and anything that came her way.

Mothcurl loved her name now, wearing it with pride; she didn't feel the need to try and hide it anymore, she could be who she wanted to be with no fear. She liked to think that she had left her mark on some cats, some places, and that they would remember her name for moons to come- and that sounded quite nice to her.

Prompt: A natomically, cats have five claws on each front foot- Four is the exception. When they were only an apprentice, they lost two claws while out hunting in the canopy without their mentor. Adrenaline pumped hard and fast through their veins as they effortlessly weaved through the treetop branches, free from the cautious and watchful eye of a mentor. Four stopped suddenly when they spotted a large red-tailed hawk- perfect prey to make their mentor proud. Although confident, Four was naive to think that they could take on a bird with such sharp talons who could rip them apart.
Once pounce and Four thought they had it. However, they did not. The hawk fought back viciously, and Four was lucky to escape with only two lost claws and a few out of place tuffs of hair. Safe to say ever since then, Four has always been accompanied by someone when out hunting.

Think of kittens, playing in the mud, driving there mother insane tumbling about. Mudfish was the kit on the corner of the mud pile watching her siblings tumble about. The coat was the assumption of the name, but when she was small she would step in the mud, and react strongly to it way before she opened her eyes. Her face would distort, and she meowed softly for her mother. The adult cat would coax the kitten away from the mud, purr and snuggle with the baby till she calmed down before the kitten would then fall into the mud again.

This mostly refers to the first time she was outside, but Fish has a more serious meaning. Mudfish LOVES to swim, despite her hate of getting wet. It's an odd relationship she has with the river. Glaring at it, and even biting the river for getting her wet, but the movement, and distraction of being in the water makes her so happy it outweighs the suffering of heavy fur, cold skin, and sore muscles. Not to mention she does love fish to eat, catch, and share with her clan, but that's very minor compared to the previous reason. She did however, suggest fish as a suffix when she was a kitten. Being named by her mentor SolumnBlossom probably prompted this as Solumn had a close tight connection with her apprentice.

Hawk- - A few days before he was born, a Court patrol was attacked by a hawk. His father managed to deal the final blow. There's no sad story here; his mother thought it was a fitting tribute to the cat who managed to save a patrol from meeting a horrible end.

-sky - As a new scale, Hawksky has only recently gotten his full name. He was gifted the suffix -sky in honour of his incredibly strong back legs, which help him leap further than anyone else in the Court. At first glance, it doesn't fit as well as -leap, -jump, or other motion words, but it's a constant reminder to him to always try and reach the sky; to soar as high as the hawks do.

He looked up at his dark brown father's tail as it disappeared through the undergrowth, the squealing of his littermates slowly fading away as his father carried them back home but forgot about the runt of the litter. Per usual. If he waited maybe his father or mother would return to take him back. Hours passed, it was nearly nighttime as the little tom-kit shivered under a root. Still no sound. Nobody. Except for the fear scent that emitted from the poor thirsty and hungry kit that huddled fearfully under the roots of that tall oak tree.

Morning came and his stomach felt like a void. He tried to eat leaves but the void just made them disappear. Nothing like the soft, salty meat the twolegs gave him or the sweet-tasting milk of his mother. He felt a rush of determination as he crawled out from his hiding place and to a nearby shallow pond. Tiny minnows and koi swam about, weeds overgrown around the edges. "Mmm. Fishies." He squeaked, his high-pitched voice edging in hunger. He leaned forward and batted at the water, mostly out of playfulness, and when it cleared he squeaked in alarm as he looked into the water and saw his reflection, "BEAR!"

From that day on, he named himself Bear after the silly encounter with his own reflection.
