Oakhollow trudged through the rain, determined to meet the cat who did this to him. He was destined by destiny itself. He remembered the day like yesterday. Oakpaw, at the time, smiled at his mentor who never smiled back. A splash of metallic red was nearly the end of Oakpaw. His mentor lied. A never-ending cycle of revenge. His mentor was denied the love of his mother by his father and his parents lived happily ever after while Oakpaw's mentor... did not. Oakpaw's thoughts twisted as he tracked the clues of his parent's and siblings' sudden deaths. His mentor. Oakhollow became a warrior, strong and muscly but under the strength lay a vengeful and broken heart. This cat would never go unpunished.

Oakhollow, back to the present time from his thoughts, realized what he needed to do. Oakhollow began a faster pace, leaping over tumbled logs with thunder crackling in the distance as he heard the rush of water over his paws, just below the tree in the distance was his long-lived enemy. The cat who took everything from him. Duskwater. His mentor was never pleased by his apprentice who became tough but twisted, the cat who stole his parent's life out of envy, and the cat who murdered his defenseless little sisters as kits but missed him.

The two long, burning years of struggle and abuse to learn the appraisal of his mentor never ended up paying off. Oakhollow tracked the muddy footsteps of his mentor's skinny paws and followed. He found him sitting under a beautiful willow, cleaning his black fur free of the sticky mud as his reason for death lurked in the shadows of the marsh. With a yowl of surprise from Duskwater, Oakhollow leaped at him with outstretched claws and gleaming teeth.

Just like that... it was over. Tears welled in Oakhollow's eyes. What had he done? Blinded by his rage he was no better than the scum-tom in front of him. Red pooled at his paws... it was his doing. He had become the killer Duskwater was. "Run boy run..." Duskwater's ghost seemed to echo as Oakhollow let out a heart-breaking cry. "For you will never find love, a home, or even a family."

"Oh, hello newcomer. Oh, Oswald. Heh, well he's something alright. My clanmates think he's crazy, but I enjoy his company as a way to escape clan life. My duties can be a hassle sometimes." You smile, enjoying her answer.
