Username: All Along Watchtower
Cat Name: Jack > Haywing
Gender: NB
Rank: Messenger
Clan: Clan of the Sea BreezeAge: 36 moons
Prompt:Jack arrives to the seaside town one sunny afternoon, hopping off a train as it rolls into a nearby station. They stroll through the streets with a confidence like they owned the place, knew exactly where they were going despite never having been there before.
Naturally, this causes a bit of a stir amongst the community cats who'd lived here before. Their colonies were not used to strangers, much less strangers showing up out of the blue, untied to any human. Jack does not care much. Though friendly when confronted, they barely mingle with the other cats. Several humans start laying out food for them, hoping to stake the claim that Jack is
their cat. Jack does not care much. They know that, eventually, they'll be leaving the town again.
--
Naturally, this means they stay far longer than they had planned.
--
"Do you want to join our clan?" the lavender and white tom they'd once known as Heather mews. Jack rolls from their back onto their stomach, blinking up at him. They don't know what a "clan" is, or where Heather has been these past weeks - but the idea of one, the concept of a life beyond these human houses, intrigues them.
"Sure," they say, closing their eyes and stretching out in the sun. "Sounds like it'd be fun. Count me in."
--
Haywing is, perhaps, not
the fastest cat in BreezeClan - but they are one of them. Their promotion to Messenger is basically guaranteed from the moment they set foot in the clan.
"Are you sure about this?" Heatherstar asks them, not far from the sandy shores of their island. Haywing pauses, shrugs their shoulders.
"Why not?" they say, and take off. They hit the ocean with a leap and start to swim; they are far from the fastest of swimmers, but they must make do. It is only once they reach the seaside shore and are once again able to run that they truly shine in their element, bounding past startled colony cats who'd chosen to stay behind. A train is rolling into the station, heading back the way Haywing had come from.
They would be back. Of course they would. But there were other clans out there, other cats they could reach.
And Haywing had always been fond of travelling.
