It blooms from the middle of summer until the first frost, and its dark colors and shrublike appearance provide the perfect place to dig a hole under and sit in the slight shade in the summer, or observe the hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies in late fall. Its flowers are fragrant and delicate, and Carys knows that the soil it grows in is always dry and perfect for hiding goodies in, unlike the wet leaf litter in most of the runs.
