Seasonal Plans:
It was an unusually cold day for late October, as Barnaby skipped his way down the road towards the tiny house where Seattle lived. He knocked twice on the wooden door, hearing shuffling from behind it before it cracked open and Seattle's face poked out. "Hey! I brought you this!" He said cheerfully, pulling a tiny white pumpkin from his pocket and holding it confidently in front of him. Seattle blushed. "Th-thank you, Barnaby," she croaked. Barnaby cocked his head to one side. "You feeling alright Sea? You sound a little under the weather." He craned his neck to see inside the house, but Seattle blocked it fully with her body, moving just enough so that she was always in his line of sight. She smiled sheepishly. "I'm feeling fine, thank you! I'm just... A tad bit busy today." Barnaby's face broke into a large grin. "Well I love helping my friends out!" He bore his way into the entryway of the little house, and his mouth dropped in shock at the sight of it. Everywhere, from ceiling to floor, in every corner and every piece of furniture, Christmas decorations hung or sat. "W...What about Halloween! We're supposed to go trick-or-treating tonight!" he gasped. Seattle's face fell. "I still like Halloween and I still want to go, I just... I really love Christmas and I always decorate this time of year... I look forward to it..." Barnaby turned and saw how crest fallen Seattle looked, standing in her ornately decorated living room which had obviously taken her ages to complete. "Hey I... I didn't mean it like that, Seattle. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Everybody is excited about different things and it's ok that you're excited about Christmas!" Seattle bowed her head. "It's kind of embarrassing that I spend the Halloween season decorating for Christmas but it's just, what I've always done and I love the tradition." Barnaby wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Sea, I think that's awesome. As long as you'll still come trick-or-treating with me, I'd be happy to help you decorate the other half of that Christmas tree!"
And so it went, from that time on Barnaby came every year the day of trick-or-treating to help Seattle decorate her Christmas tree. Just because someone's traditions are different than yours, and sometime they may seem strange, doesn't mean that they aren't normal. They just do things a little differently and that's ok!
