Nadia nervously twirled her hair, tearing open the letter, and reading the acceptance paper. She grinned as she finished, tears welling in her eyes slowly as she mentally prepared herself for the next day.
It was dark out, the only light that was shining was a streetlamp, which occasionally flickered, darkness swallowing the street when the light eventually burned out.
The pitter-patter of feet against hardwood sounded as she walked up the stairs and entered her room, all too ready for the next day to come.
She dozed off to the tapping of the rain against her window, almost as if it were humming a song.
---
Sunlight beamed through the curtains, flashing brightly on her eyes as she stood up and drowsily walked over to her dresser, brushing her hair and then getting ready. Today is the big day. She thought, a smile falling onto her face as she finished getting ready.
Heading downstairs, Nadia grabbed her purse and keys and left her home. She was over the top with excitement, it was basically pouring out as she drove. She smiled happily at people driving by, some looking at her with a confused expression and some grinning back. If only they knew why.
---
On her way, she stopped to go get some more comfortable clothing, as she knew she would be in the hospital for a few days.
---
She arrived in the parking lot, the tall white building standing tall.
As she entered, the scent of the hospital hit her, flooding her senses.
She walked up to the short desk and waited for the receptionist to turn around, tapping her feet with excitement.
After speaking with the woman at the desk and taking a seat, Nadia looked around the waiting room, various people sat in the black chairs, either on their phone or peering out the window, into the rain.
She had zoned out when they called her name, almost jumping out of her seat when she was brought back to reality. A pang of nervousness turned from a droplet to a lake when she entered the large white room, the bed sitting empty in the middle of the room.
"The doctor will be right with you." The nurse said, exiting the room.
She smiled nervously.
The door opened and a Kalon dressed in a coat came into the room and scribbled something on a note pad, then looked up at Nadia.
"Nadia Whelks, right?" The doctor questioned, a soft smile on his face.
She nodded.
"Well, I will just put you under some anesthetic, and then we should be good to go!" He added.
Nadia nodded once again, smiling.
The doctor walked over to her and put a small mask on her face. Suddenly, she became drowsy, and within moments, she was put under.
---
Nadia groaned, pain striking her with every gentle twitch of her body, she looked around, then looked up at the doctor and the nurse, both smiling joyfully.
"The surgery was successful!"
