(I apologise in advance for how long it is lol)
// represents the split between mine and δρεπάνι's stories

From the day he opened his soft green eyes, Saiph was more fragile than the rest of his litter, he had an innate weakness; he was the runt of the litter, his littermates, especially Orion, always made sure he was well fed and looked after.

Saiph always knew one day he would be prised away from his litter, from his brother Orion, Saiph was scared, he was always a nervous and mischievous pup, he took his chances when they were there, he would chew and bite, that wasn't the worst he's ever done; saiph has always been an escape artist; running away from all that troubled him. Saiph once managed to get under the fence in his breeder's back garden; they were out for no more than seconds. His mother paid him no mind; they usually gave up on the runts. Saiph was new to this outside world, being on the better part of a month old he had yet to explore. Saiph wondered helplessly through the woods behind the breeders house, with the torrential rains flooding above him he hid underneath a rotted tree branch; barely sheltering himself from the rains, he shook there crying, hoping someone would come for him. It had been an hour before he felt a cold, wet nose sniff his head; opening his eyes to see the amber eyes of Orion staring back at him, the breeders always wondered why Saiph and Orion stuck together like glue; this was why, Orion looked out for Saiph, and this was the only time Saiph felt safe.

8 weeks came quickly and the new owners came to choose their puppies. Saiph was chosen last, his first home was with an elderly lady, she was very kind to him but as she grew older he grew more rambunctious and playful. He soon grew too much for the older lady and she set out to rehome him, he didn't remember much of his puppy hood but the next home he couldn't forget. He was picked up by a man and a woman, at first they were welcoming to Saiph but weeks passed and they grew colder, he soon found himself chained to the kennel outside, rain or snow, he was fed poor quality food. Saiph's only friend was the neighbor's cat, he wished he could go back to the house of the old lady, he wished that he could be with his littermates again, he was lonely in this life, in this house . He went for a walk occasionally, and to no surprise he was unruly, he pulled on his collar, the few times he was permitted to run he was disobedient and didn't recall, he was just happy to run, it took 3 escapes to get Saiph's owners to finally have enough of him. That was it, they grabbed his lead; his halti, led him to the travel cage in the car. Despite their neglect of him, they decided to send him to a good kennel; one where every dog matters, where he can better himself. They chose High Bridge. It was an unceremonious hand over to say the least, they handed over one box of his things; all there was. Saiph was an emotional wreck, even though he wasn't fond of his last home, that's all he knew; he got used to the same 4 kennel walls.

Saiph wouldn't settle at High Bridge at first; he was usually found digging at the fence edge surrounding the property, eager to get out and try to find his brother. It took 2 years before the landscapers at High Bridge didn't manage to fill his many holes in time, he finally snook out when the dogs were let out to go to the toilet; the rest of the dogs in the group tried to stop him and alerted the owners of High Bridge but Saiph was long gone down the driveway to the kennels before they got his collar and leash; one of the many benefits to Saiph's escape attempts before, he was very fast running away. He was confused; he was in a new location, one he didn't see the way out of thanks to the High Bridge transporting van. He fully relied on his nose and willpower to try get back to his previous homes and try and track down Orion, it didn’t take long before he could stop running; he smelt a familiar scent; one he couldn't ever forget. Saiph saw a figure, his tail swishing aimlessly, it was him; even though he hadn't seen his brother for so long he couldn’t forget his aura, he was happy again; safe again as he ran towards his brother with glee, Saiph cried louder than any dog could, he missed Orion so much. They were together and they would never be apart again

//

Orion thought that they would always be together. How could he not? From the moment they were born, they were inseparable. And even though he was only older by about an hour, Orion always felt that he should watch over his younger brother. Which was probably a good thing since Saiph had the propensity for getting into trouble.

As Orion was loaded up into the car that would take him to his new home, one that did not include his brother, he recalled the time Saiph had managed to wriggle himself through an opening in the fence and wander off into the woods before getting hopelessly lost. During a rainstorm no less. Who was it that had found the pup, scarcely a month old, huddled under a dug-out hole beneath a fallen tree, soaked to the skin and covered in mud? It hadn't been their human owners, who, despite having spent an hour searching, were ultimately unsuccessful. It hadn't been their mother, who had been locked inside by the same human owners. No, it had been Orion. They had also tried to lock him inside while they searched but he managed to slip past them while they were heading out the door. From there, all he had to do was use his nose. Not that the rain made that effort any easier. For the first half hour of his searching, he could only rely on following the tracks his brother had made--ones that were quickly being erased by the falling rain. Eventually, however, he managed to pick up the faintest hint of his scent which led him to finding him under the downed tree.

I'll always protect you, brother.

Those were the words he had said to Saiph, after leading him back to their home once the rain had cleared. Now, weeks later, he watched the home he and his brother both used to live in disappear on the horizon. He let out a high-pitched howl, long and mournful. And from that moment, he vowed to do everything it took to reunite with his little brother again.

As soon as he had been settled into his new home, the escape attempts began. It wasn't that his new family wasn't nice. Despite their exasperation at his tireless efforts to escape, they still fed and cared for him. A few of his escape attempts had even been mildly successful; he had once made it all the way to the next town over. But when his family did eventually find him, they seemed genuinely worried about his well-being, as well as happy to see that no harm had come to him. So as the weeks turned into months and the months into years, Orion did learn to love his new family. But his heart still yearned for his brother.

Then the day came where he finally managed to leave before his family could catch him. By the time they even realized he was missing, he was already far, far away. The furthest he had ever been from his home since he had first moved in.

It was a long journey, but he made his way back to the home he and Saiph used to share. Neither he nor the rest of their siblings were there, but their mom was. After allowing him to eat, drink, and rest his tired and sore paws, she informed him about an old woman who had taken him, but had no more information beyond that, nor did it seem like she particularly cared. She had never grown as attached to Saiph as she did Orion or their other siblings.

With some help from the local strays, he was able to locate the old woman's home, but then another stray told him that Saiph hadn't lived in that home for a while. He was then directed to a couple's home, only to be met with a similar story. Fearing he had reached a dead end in his search, Orion walked down the street, his head and tail drooped in defeat. Then, feeling himself being watched, he lifted his head and met the gaze of a cat perched on the fence of one of the neighboring houses. Normally cats ignored him, and in return he did the same, but to his surprise, this one actually spoke to him.

It began to tell him about Saiph and Orion, thinking the cat was trying to tease or ridicule him, started to walk away once again. However, he halted in his tracks when he heard about how Saiph had been treated and how the cat was the only one to provide his brother companionship during his hard times. And then the cat told him how he had been sent to a new home called 'High Bridge Kennels' only a short time ago.

Orion's heart surged with newfound hope and, thanking the cat for its help and for being there for Saiph when he needed it the most, he set off in search of High Bridge. He felt uplifted; he could feel his soul soaring like a hawk. He was close. He could feel it.

He could smell him now. He was so close! In fact, he felt as though if he just turned the corner he would...Orion slowed to a stop as he rounded the corner of a street. There he was. He recognized him instantly. Of course he did. He was his brother. He stood for a moment, silent, as a million emotions washed over him. Finally, a single emotion began to overwhelm all the rest until it was all he could feel. Joy. Pure and simple joy.

And then, without consciously telling his body to do so, he felt his paws carrying him towards Saiph. He let out a few yaps of excitement as he ran. He couldn’t help it. He felt like a puppy again--carefree and filled to the brim with happiness because he and his brother were finally together again.

If she was understanding her human correctly, then this was the day! Cinnamon Bun had only moved here a few months ago, but life was significantly better than the overcrowded conditions of her first home, the one she was born to. A place that seemed to always hold puppies, yet they were all confined to small cages. However, with her only sister by her side, this never bother the collie. They were family, and family stayed together.

Then humans had arrived with more cages, bundling all the dogs off with gentle words and soft hands. Still by her sisters side, the lilac collie met the change with an open heart and bright smile. A few days passed, and two humans came to see the pair, promising a better life. She had been hesitant to leave her sister, but trusted that she too, would be given a loving home.

Now she lived in a large kennel, surrounded by other dogs to play with, talk to or even get sit in a comfortable silence with. Her owner was kind and took care of her, and Cinnamon Bun was allowed to play in more land than she even knew existed.

The only thing that could make this life better, was to share it with Marzipan, and that might just come true if today went well. Since she'd moved here, the lingering scent of her sister had never left her new owner. This could only mean they were still in contact: and regularly.

"We've got a visitor coming today," she'd told the collies that morning. Perhaps Cinnamon Bun was being too hopeful, but there was nothing she wanted more. Her sister must be coming to visit her today.

Excited barks from the collies around her made her prick her ears. Sure enough, a car was approaching.

- - - - -

"We're almost there Marzipan!"

It was difficult to hear with her head out the window, ears flapping in the wind, but the collie understood, and her tail thumped against the passenger seat in her excitement. She already enjoyed being in the car, and had almost forgotten the destination, but her owner's words reminded her.

A new home! I hope there's still a big place to run around, and the dogs there are friendly!

Sure, her other home had been nothing but kind to them, but her owner had decided she was moving in with someone, and Marzipan took it on with an optimism she knew her sister would be proud of. Even back in those tiny cages, given the bare minimum, the other Collie had always smiled. It was something Marzipan admired, and found herself doing all she could to stay positive.

The car took a sharp turn, pulling her from her thoughts. She took a deep breath, and the scents of unfamiliar dogs filled her nose, too many to distinguish. However, one particular smell stood out, and was almost as familiar as her own: her sister, Cinnamon Bun.

Excited, she let out a series of barks, shuffling about on her seat in her desperation to just be there already.

- - - - -

With the engine cutting to silence, Cinnamon Bun bounded to the gate. She spun in circles, barking in urgency until her owner opened it. She sprinted out just as Marzipan leaped out the car door. They needed no instructions, and instantly ran towards eachother, sniffing all over in greeting. Cinnamon Bun opened her mouth to speak, to ask countless questions, but before she could get anything out, Marzipan dropped into the play bow. Her tongue flopped out and her eyes widened, waiting for Cinnamon Bun to join her. Of course she joined her, making a playful yap of enjoyment as she bounced up then dropped, mirroring the bow. Taking the lead, just as they had when puppies, Marzipan turned and ran, dust flying up from her paws. The lilac collie sprung to her paws before bounding in chase. The other dogs in the kennel watched as the two sisters jumped and ran around in harmony, wishing they could play too, but they kept quiet as to let them enjoy this reunion.

Both were breathless when they finally calmed down, plopping to the ground beside their owners. Cinnamon Bun leaned over, cleaning the dust off Marzipan's ears before she started their fist conversation in what felt like a lifetime.

"I've missed you so much! I can always smell you when my owner comes home," Marzipan panted.

"Same! Maybe if they see each other that much, we'll be able to see each other too now?"

It was then that the liver collie let her eyes widen, tail waving. "You don't know? Our owners are moving in together, so their dogs will all be kept at this place! Including..."

"You!" She finished. "You're coming to live with us!!" Cinnamon Bun bounded around and wagged her tail so hard she thought she would start flying like a helicopter!

"Come on, show me around! I want to know how amazing this place is going to be!"

Rising to her paws, she nodded. "Phoenix usually gives the tour as she's practically our leader. She was the first dog here. But I'm sure she won't mind if I do it just this once. After all, you are my sister!" She explained as she padded back towards the gate, past their owners who were stood chatting, Marzipan following close behind.

She watched as Cinnamon Bun nodded over to a large box that was overflowing with all sorts of toys; teddies, balls, tug toys and Marzipan's favorite: squeaky toys!

"This is the toy box. If you're ever bored, Uno is the one to play with. She's the most playful dog here and she never turns down a game." Marzipan looked over to the black and white collie who was playing tug of war with another dog.

"I recon Strawberry would like her. She's just as excitable as Uno, if not more!" She laughed as she watched the other dog stumble and lose the current game, Uno prancing about in triumph. "Anyway, why would I get bored if I've got you, Cinnamon Bun?" She nudged her sister. She still couldn't believe she was finally back with her! She'd always hoped they'd stay together and share their lives.

"This is my kennel, we get our own soft beds on the inside bit and fresh water in the outside section. You should sleep with me, like old times!" Cinnamon Bun stated hopefully.

Marzipan hesitated before she answered. "I would love to, but I have my own new family now and I think I should stay with them. We can still play together everyday! It's just... You're not my only family now, if that makes sense?"

This hurt at first but then Cinnamon Bun remembered that she also has her new family and life. "I... I think I understand what you mean," she confirmed, looking over her shoulder at the dogs she'd come to know so well. "They may not be you, but they're my family too."

Marzipan would always be her sister and now she can see her everyday. But best of all, they could share their new families with each other.

THE LIVER
Username:chezarain
Name:Espresso
Name Meaning(s):Coffee
Gender:Male

THE LILAC
Username:BrightDays
Name:Latte
Name Meaning(s):Coffee&Milk
Gender:Female

Response: Latte and Espresso laid down together, panting after a play session. "I wish we weren't going to be split up," Latte murmured to her sibling. "I know Latte, but we may meet again one day," the darker sibling replied. Hearing a car pull up and their guardian call to the human that got out of the car. “Looks like one of our new owners are here,” Espresso murmured to Latte, going to miss his sister. Nudging her farewell, he watched silently as the human came over to them. “Seems like you two bonded, I’m sorry to split you up,” the human murmured, gently petting the pups. “At least whoever is going with this human is going to a nice home,” Espresso murmured to Latte, who nodded in response. “I’ll take the lighter one,” the human replied. “And I’ll keep her name Latte,” the human told the guardian. “At least you get to keep your name, I’m not sure what mine will be,” Espresso replied to Latte. “Bye sister,” he said, as the human gathered Latte up, and watched with soulful eyes. “Going to miss her boy?” the guardian asked, hearing a whine from the darker pup. “Your new owners should be arriving soon,” as they watched Latte disappear with her new family. Soon after the car had disappeared, another car showed. “See boy, here’s your new owners, maybe you’ll meet your sister again someday,” the guardian said, gathering him up and going to meet with the owner that was picking up Espresso. “This is the last pup we have,” the guardian replied. “He just lost his sister, and best friend,” the guardian warned Espresso’s new owners. “I like the name Espresso for him,” they told the guardian, who nodded knowingly. Espresso looked at his new family, excited for the new chapter in life, but knowing he may not see his sister ever again.

That memory of the last playdate they shared skittered through Espresso’s mind, though he couldn’t fathom why. It had been so long since he’d seen Latte, he was a much larger pup now and, might he add, very well behaved on a leash. Even now he trudged along obediently, tail bobbing with the motions of his body, though he rarely wagged it nearly as much as he used to. He missed his sister dearly, and the pale coat of another dog as they passed the park broke his concentration and he stopped to stare. The other dog stared back just as hard, and the frantic beating of both of their tails had the guardians curious; they chose to talk and give the dogs free run in the fenced-in park, all of them overly enthusiastic at the fact the dogs were siblings. Espresso and Latte tumbled just as gleefully as they had in their youth, tails wagging faster than their little hearts were beating in excitement. They would be equally pleased to find their guardians had decided to have weekly meet-ups as well, seeing that they lived relatively close to one another. That longing would be a figment of the past.

THE LIVER
Username: bsktcase
Name: CRK’s Eye of the Hurricane // Tornado
Name Meaning(s): Tornado’s name is a from the commonly known rapidly rotating column of air that is in contact with both the surface of the Earth and a cumulonimbus cloud. From a pup, he has always had more energy than others could really handle at times. Once his eyes and ears were open there was really no stopping him, well beside the gates. Most would believe his show name means the same thing as it references a hurricane a rapidly rotating storm system characterized by a low-pressure center, a closed low-level atmospheric circulation, strong winds, and a spiral arrangement of thunderstorms that produce heavy rain or squalls. When in all reality the center or the eye of the hurricane is the calmest place of the storm. See Torn can be calm when he wants to be and is centered within himself.
Gender: Male

THE LILAC
Username: Chanceuxcat
Name: Royals' Storm Chaser // Tempest
Name Meaning(s): Tempest’s call name is after a violent windy storm. As a pup, she and her wild brother would get into trouble together, inspiring their stormy names. Tornado’s original show name was going to be Storm Chaser. A storm chaser is someone who pursues any severe weather condition. However, many of the storm chaser’s pursuits are tornados. This show name was instead given to Tempest so she can always remember the days she spent with her brother, playing and tumbling about and even in games of chase. Both her and her brother’s names are extreme weather conditions, matching the lively personalities they had when they were pups. They also both start with a T to match each other in a way as well.
Gender: Female

Response:

Done with bsktcase! <3

Tempest stretches her jaws wide, letting her tongue loll out in a yawn. She pants, the excitement of going on a drive beginning to fade, but still in the back of her mind. What fun the car is! she thinks, sitting up to look out the window. Endless grassy hills run alongside her.
She drags her sea green eyes away from the window to look at her owner, who is saying something to her. Tempest wags her tail, although she doesn’t understand a word. But the tone is happy, so they must be going somewhere good. Right?
Feeling the car start to slow, Tempest stands and can no longer contain a bark. They are at a park! With dogs! Could this day possibly get any better? Leaping out of the car, Tempest strains against the leash. Foreign smells hit her all at once, each more interesting than the last. She whines with impatience. Let me go explore, she wants to shout. She frowns in confusion and disbelief as they walk right by the main dog park area. No!
But then she sees another dog. And they’re heading right towards him! Finally! Tempest wags her tail in a gesture of friendliness and she catches a whiff of his scent. It’s almost… familiar. That’s curious. She racks her brain for an explanation but this dog doesn’t look like any she’s seen before. Then he speaks.
“Hallo stranger,” the liver dog says with a devilish smile she’ll never forget.
Tempest freezes for a moment, transfixed as if she’s seen a ghost. She breaks free a second later and crashes into him, burying her face in his neck fur in a hug. He hugs her tightly back. “I- I can’t believe it’s you!”
She finally lets go, grinning at him. “So how have you been Tornado? I never- and I mean never- thought that I’d see you again!”
Tornado laughs. “I told you when we said goodbye that we’d meet again! How could I leave my favorite sister forever?” He stretches and lays down. Their leashes have been taken off and their owners sit nearby conversing, but both of the siblings are oblivious to everything but each other in this moment.
Tempest rolls her eyes, sitting down too. “You don’t exactly have a choice in that matter, my dear brother.”
“Of course I do Temp. I could always run away and find you.”
Tempest snorts. “Torn, by the time you get to me, I’ll be six feet under.”
Tornado raises an eyebrow. “Oh? Are you calling me slow, dear sister?”
She turns her head to look at him mischievously out the corner of his eye. “All I’m saying is that in a race, I would lap you twice before you got halfway through.”
“Ha! Is that so? Well, you wouldn’t mind if I challenge you to a race then?” Tornado growls, raising his haunches in a play bow.
Tempest mirrors him. “Bring it on!”

Taking off, both collies sprint the length of the park. They round a tree, then another one, paws barely brushing against the ground. Breathing heavily, Tempest grits her teeth in concentration. Tornado starts to get ahead of her and she lets out a low growl. Not this time! Giving it all her effort, she pulls up next to him and they skid to a halt by the bench their owners sit. Panting hard, the two collies try to catch their breath.
“How does it feel to lose?” Tempest manages to get out between breaths.
“I don’t know, how does it feel?” Tornado gasps back.
“I obviously won.”
“No you didn’t! I was back first!”
Simultaneously, the siblings realize they’re bickering like puppies again and start laughing.
Tornado grins. “Remember when mum would get frustrated with our energy and tell us-”
“‘You two are so wild the only way your owners can handle you is when you’re dead!’” Tempest finishes.
A look of sadness passes over Tornado’s face. “I miss mum,” he says quietly.
Tempest nods, reminiscing. “I miss her too.”
Tornado shakes suddenly, like he’s trying to dispel the sad memory. “Well, there’s no point in being sad now. Not when we’re together again!”
Tempest barks in agreement. “So, do you want to try and beat me again Torn?”
Tornado bares his teeth and growls playfully. “Only if you want to lose again!”

An hour later, after what seems like minutes to the collies, their owners call them over. Happy, and exhausted after all the intense play, Tempest and Tornado walk to them. Their owners and the siblings say goodbye.
Tornado looks at his sister. “Don’t get into too much trouble without me Temp.”
Tempest smiles and wags her tail. “Only if you don’t either.”
Their leashes back on, the collies’ owners turn to leave. Tempest frowns suddenly and tugs her leash out of her owner’s hand.
“Wait!” she barks at Tornado, racing over to him. He turns around and she pulls him into a tight hug. “See you again soon!”

Image

Tornado gives her a mischievous look. “See you soon, dear sister.”

As Tempest’s owner retrieves the leash and they walk away (for real this time), Tempest wonders what Tornado means. He seemed sure they would meet again, but how could he know? Then she remembers the shows. Of course! We might even compete together! He better watch out! Tempest feels herself smiling and in that moment, nothing can bring her down.

THE LIVER
Username: baers
Name: Laurence or "Ren"
Name Meaning(s): In Latin the meaning of the name Laurence is: Of/From Laurentum.
From the place of the laurel leaves. Can also be interpreted as the English version of the Irish name Lorcan.
This is to play of off the name "Larkin". As well as "Ren" plays off the bird name "Wren".
Gender: Male

THE LILAC
Username: Destiny
Name: Larkin
Name Meaning(s): Means "silent" or "fierce" though the names meaning really comes from the use of the word
"Lark" which is a small ground-dwelling songbird with a song that is delivered in flight.
Gender: Female

        Response:

        Larkin

Larkin found herself apprehensive for the first time in a long while. When she was a puppy, she used to be fearful of many things; Dark places, loud noises, new people. She could not remember when exactly her hesitations started, but she knew one thing; her brother had always been there for her to lean on, and he was always her source of strength. But now, it was as if the exact opposite effect was happening. She was fearful...fearful about seeing her brother for the first time in a year. Since they had been separated after their first 5 months of life, she had not seen him once.

Would he have grown to dislike her, like he seemed to dislike everyone when they were so young? He was always so proud, he never let the other puppies and dogs at the rescue take advantage of him. Their mother had died early on, and they had both gotten terribly sick, the rescue taking them on free of charge to heal their ills. The other dogs immediately treated them like they did not exist...or rather shouldn't exist... And he stuck up for himself, and always believed there would be better things out there, for both him...and her. He always seemed so confident, and like nobody could get him down. He could take on the world.

And then...in the blink of an eye they were torn apart. She barely had a moment to say goodbye before she knew what was happening. She remembered the look of fear he had, for what seemed like the first time ever. They stood in the entryway to the lobby, both on leashes, their families prepared to take them away. Whenever he would get too sad, sad about their mother...sad about their exile from the other dogs...sad about their existence at the rescue...loney...she would do her best to comfort him. But now...he didn't just seem sad...and the fear reflecting in his eyes worried her deeply. How could he be scared?

She willed all the strength she had, her own body shaking from the nervousness she felt, about all that was going on around her. She nuzzled him, and licked his face, "I love you Ren, forever. We will never be alone because we have each other out in the world, forever and always," she spoke quietly, as she always did. She tried to be the confident one in that moment. With all her might she tried. She couldn't bear to see him worry. And after they had a few more moments, the families had their paperwork finished and they went their separate ways.

And now they would be together again, after that long year. A year in which...she had honestly thrived. It had been terrifying at first. She hated to reflect on the first few months especially. She had been so nervous...it seemed even worse once her brother was no longer around. But her people had been so amazing...they were so amazing. They worked with her every day, they built trust. And because of the trust she began to learn many new things. She could perform many sports, she was great at herding. She was great at meeting others now, dogs in the arenas she went to, and the many parks she played at. It truly had been the best months of her life.

She loved her brother, and missed him. But the ache in her heart had faded slowly as she accepted that they may never see eachother again, replaced with the love of her family. She still thought of him...but less often...and it was because of that, that she felt a tide of guilt. And again the fear that he might not recognize her...or even like her any longer! They were at the dog park then...she could see him...she began to feel a good sort of excitement. Could he see her? Her owners brought her into the pen between the parking lot and the open dog yard. And then they opened the gates…

        Ren

A year had passed. The time and distance that separated the two was painstaking. Ren had always been so optimistic, so strong, so cunning, yet the time apart had just drained him… The moment his new family began dragging him from her, a deep fear settled in the pit of his stomach. Something he never felt so dreadfully strong, and new thoughts and worries pounded into his head. What if he would never see Larkin again? He had stayed strong all this time for her, yet he was being pulled apart from her, for what? He barked, he whimpered and he pulled away from the humans that called him theirs, he nipped and growled, yet they just kept pulling him from her.

Days turned into months, months turned into a year, and in that time, Ren had completely changed. He was treated well in his new home, pampered well, fed well, even had other collies to roam his newfound ranch with, yet Larkin was always in the back of his mind.

It has a way of messing with you, honestly. It lets you slip into a depressive state, one where you don’t want to socialize with anyone, much less do anything. Ren started letting himself go. First his mother dying, then his separation from his sister? It was just too much on his mind.
His human began to pick up on this however. She noticed all of his sad behavior, which slowly began to turn him skittish. She felt heartbroken for him, realizing that he hadn’t necessarily had the easiest life. So, she did the first thing she could think of. She contacted Larkins owner, and decided to help Ren.

The air was warm and the sun shined high and bright in the sky when Morgan’s red pickup pulled into the parking lot of the dog park. Ren sat patiently in the back before Morgan clipped a leash to his collar, and gently urged him out of the truck. It was a new experience for them, seeing as Ren normally roamed the ranch, he had never been to a dog park before. New smells filled the air while new structures and dogs filled his sight. He huffed before sitting at Morgans feet and looking up at her. An obvious nervousness settled in his eyes. He huffed again when Morgan tugged gently on his leash, and began walking towards a small pen with another dog.

He didn’t notice her at first, but when he caught a slight sniff of her scent, his eyes widened. It wasn’t Larkin.. Was it? His ears perked and he gazed ahead eagerly, he couldn’t see her directly at first, a human was in the way, but once they moved to unveil her soft lilac fur, he began pulling at the lead with excitement. Did she even remember him? It wouldn’t matter to him, as long as he could just see her for a little bit.
The gate opened and the leash came off…
He ran towards her, absolutely galloped and tackled her. He felt full again, and happy, and alive. It was really her. His little sister. How she had grown, she looked so different, yet so beautiful. He finally felt home again.

        Larkin
Larkin stood up, her owner had moved in the way of her view for a brief second...Larkin jostled on her feet... Destiny stepped to the side, turning to greet another human…And then Larkin had no time to continue to worry before Ren himself was tackling her. She had no time to worry and the fear instantly was gone, she could feel the waves of love he had for her. Her cries of joy, and the sadness she had felt all coming out at once. If she could’ve cried happy tears, they would have been all over her face.

He smelled like her brother, and he looked like him too, he was Ren. Oh Ren, her sweet older, stronger brother, her protector. It was all the same suddenly, they were small again, and it was like it use to be. Nothing had changed. But so much had changed. And yet here they were, and she knew it wasn't the end any more. And she could tell he knew it to.

“Remember Ren!” She smiled so large her face felt it would come unhinged. “We will never be alone because we have each other out in the world, forever and always!” [1406/400][Larkin written by Destiny. Ren written by baers]
