Prompt: pov;; you just woke up from where you were sleeping in a heifer's stall to watch her as she gave birth to her first calf.

"are they awake, momma?" the voice of a young child asked.
"hush, nella." a older sounding voice shushed the child gently. "we musn't walk them up."
you open your eyes to see your heifer and a young calf standing over your head.
"yay they are awake!" the calf squeaked.
"y-y-you can talk?" you scramble back, eyes bugging out.
"well of course we can!" the calf watches you. "i'm nella! what's your favorite fruit?"
you stare at the young cow and your heifer.
this is impossible. you think.
"well since you're not gonna talk." nella huffs. "my favorite fruit are bananas."
the heifer chuckles and clops over to her pile of hay.
the heifer starts eating her hay, leaving you with the overly talkative calf.
"obviously i have never eaten bananas before." the white and pink calf proceeds.
"w-what?" you stutter.
"i would eat them for a whole month if i could." nella suddenly says wistfully. "thats because i want something besides my mom's boring milk."
the two cows look at you and give little grins.

Prompt: juno would happily choose lemons as her only fruit for a month- there are so many recipes that benefit from the juice and zest, plus it's the key ingredient to a great drink for the summer! she's always been more of a fan of the sour fruit than her friends, who would choose strawberries or grapes, but that just means there was always more for her. it became an inside joke that, when out, her friends would get their water with lemon, knowing she would munch on the citrus when it was there. now that she's away in a new city, it's all she can do to keep that tie to them. while her intake of the fruit is now at an all-time low, she would happily eat it and it alone if it meant going to see her friends- nay- her family for a month.

Pomelo would choose grapefruit with no hesitation- not because she adored the fruit or enjoyed it's tarty tang, but because she knows no other fruit besides it. Growing up on an island proved not only to be boring and tedious, but also severely lacking when it came to natural resources. Being one of the few inhabitants in her small and isolated village, she grew up cultivating and harvesting the multiple types of grapefruit trees that sustained them. She did enjoy the sour kick to them, and trying the new types that would be discovered every now and then when more of the island was explored; but her favorite of them all was the white grapefruit trees that grew outside her bungalow. The juices from these fruits proved to be a delicacy amongst the other villagers.

So, it's safe to assume that Pomelo would choose grapefruit to be the only fruit she could eat for a month, because not only are there so many varieties and flavors, but Pomelo has lived off of grapefruit for years- and a month munching only on grapefruit would be a piece of cake. She stared down at then and then promptly say in the dirt. She was so confused, she really wished she could eat them all but in general she always had a favorite. She always seemed to go for these ones during the season for harvesting. Strawberries. Their bright red colors always seemed to draw her in, the sweet aroma and the way they had a soft yet delicate crunch. She always felt like she could some how just feel all of the flavors mixing together. She smiled and looked at the strawberries, this was the fruit she would eat everyday for a month.

When she was a calf, her aunt, who travelled all around the world, brought back some dragon fruits with her. Pitaya was suspicious at first, but her aunts story of how eating the fruit would give her the same strength and power like a dragon convinced her. So she always loved dragon fruits since she was little. She loves how it tastes kind of sweet, but then also not. Kind of reminding her of kiwis, but better.
Another reason why she’d choose dragon fruits is because of the actually kind of big variety she’d have. Because she’d have the choice between pink ones with white flesh, pink ones with red flesh and then even yellow ones with white flesh. All tasting a bit different, so she could actually vary with what kind she wanted to eat depending on her mood.

Her mother walked into the kitchen just then, snatching up a piece of pineapple and popping it into her mouth with an exaggerated, "Mmmm!" She stuck her tongue out at Dahlia before they all dissolved into laughter.

"You always look sharp in your uniform, Momma!"

Dahlia sat cross-legged on the floor of her bedroom. She sniffled, bringing her hand to her face to wipe away her tears. It was a futile attempt, though, because every time she wiped away tears more flooded down her face.

"It isn't fair!" she yelled, sniffling.

Just then her father opened the door holding a plate of pineapple skewers, weariness etched into every inch of his face. He gave a soft, knowing smile as he closed the door behind him and made his way to her to sit down.

They stayed like that for a long while, just sitting, until finally, he said, "It's only respectful that all the pineapples get eaten at your mother's memorial..."
