Buttermilk #780

Postby acadicus » Tue Apr 21, 2020 2:40 pm

    2/3 -
Their design turned out a lot more ominous than it was supposed to sHHHH
ANYWAYS you can't really tell too well but the design is inspired by Ponyo!

For this heifer, tell me about what they keep in their bucket in under 200 words. Ends April 25 <3

Prompt: (117)
"What's in my bucket? Baby sea turtles!" she exclaimed, eyes bright as she gently tilted the container forward to show off the newly hatched creatures, some crawling over each other and others half buried in the layer of sand lining the bottom of the bucket.

"I come here every year and watch the nests to make at least a few make it to the ocean and survive," Ido smiled, spotting the sand shifting nearby and quickly moving to keep seagulls from dive bombing the new born child. "Here we go, little one.. join your family.."

"It's not much and I can't control what happens once they're in the water, but I can at least get them there.."

Name: Medusa
Prompt:
Medusa is very particular about her bucket. She keeps it with her at all times, and prefers that no one touches it. While it has nothing of particular value inside, Medusa is still protective over her things and will keep a steady eye on whoever comes near. Inside lay two very small white ceramic figures, a sting ray and a sea turtle.

The figurines do mean a lot more to her than she lets on. Each representing a friend from her old home, she carries them with her wherever she goes. Between the three of them, they were the sting ray, the sea turtle and the jelly fish. A triad of chaos they grew up on the beaches of a hidden island in the middle of the sea. One by one though, their trinity broke away. They grew apart as people do when they get older, and eventually the sting ray got married and moved away, the sea turtle left to travel the world and the jelly fish was left alone on the island, feeling as if she would forever be longing for those childlike days again.

Name: Miyazaki (Miya)
Prompt:

Miya has always carried her little bucket around with her, and though while some people may find it strange, it brings her comfort. Inside the little green bucket, is some sand and 2 hermit crab friends that she found stranded on the beach one day. She had such an instinct to carry them around and care for them, but in return, they gave her something back. Now, she felt less alone in the world, she had friends that would stay by her side and help her throughout life. (88/200)

Prompt: Angler is a sucker for rock collecting and often goes to the beach to find pebbles on the shore, at least that's what the others see. In reality, Angler collects fossils that are trapped in easy to pick pebbles, often disguising them as normal rocks. She doesn't like to be asked a lot of questions, and knowing her herd mates, they would ask tons of questions about each fossil. So she just plays it off like it's just a normal rock collection.

Prompt:
Water.
Sounds strange, yes, but for Picco, it's completely normal.
Picco's bucket is always half filled with water. When the water gets dirty, she pours it out and immediately refills it. She also never drinks the water from the bucket.
An explanation is likely needed to make this bucket full of water seem normal.
When Picco was young, her parents fought a lot. One could sense the tension rising between the cows, and Picco started almost sobbing when they started. She hated when they fought. But Picco found comfort in something that frightened many others- water. Staring at the gentle flowing motion of the water calmed her. She could even find peace when the ocean was roaring.
For this reason, Picco grabbed the bucket she'd had as a toy and filled it with water. Now, when her parents fought, she'd look into the water as her hoof gently tapped the side of the bucket - tik, tik - to make the water ripple. It soothed her immediately, and the fights became much more bearable.
Picco has been away from her parents for a while now, but old habits die hard, and in Picco's case, this habit probably won't die.

Prompt: Just like a child is connected to a stuffed animal they had since they were young, Caviar is connected to little bucket. It was originally used to fill water bowl she had but she grew out of the size and needed a larger one. She loved that tiny piece of plastic though and wouldn’t give it up. Caviar is now always seen with her bucket near her as she grazes the green fields she lives at. [76/200]

Name: Kambria
Prompt: So you've heard the phrase "wearing your heart on your sleeve," but what about carrying your heart in a bucket?
Ask anyone, and they'll tell you Kambria is heartless, and not just in the cold and emotionless way. It wasn't always like this, though. There was a time, back when she was a calf swimming in the seas instead of struggling to balance on four legs, when she remembers loving, laughing, and living. Now, it's all changed, and the past is in the past. She can't go back, and every moment of every day she carries her heart, reduced to a stone, as a constant reminder of the choices she can never take back.

    Name: Mizu
    Prompt: 171 words
Mizu lives nearby a river and whenever she goes to get a drink of water, she always happens to notice that fishes seem to get washed up onto the gravel. She doesn’t know why or understand the water physics. Maybe it couldn’t swim well or it was carried by the current. Either way, she’s constantly noticing that and she had suspected that where she drinks, the water is too shallow for the creatures to swim properly so some get washed up.

Whatever the reason, Mizu now constantly brings a small bucket when she goes to the river so she could catch any fish that has been washed up and relocate them to another part of the river where they can swim off. Her usual catches are fish but there has been the rare occasions of frogs and even salamanders. Mizu would always try her best to hurry to the deeper side of the river where she dips the bucket into the water and the creature would swim out on its own.

Dreams. Or so she has been told by her mother. Who was told by her mother. Who was told be her mother. And so on and so forth as far back as anyone can remember. It's more, symbolic really, she's learned as she's aged, but it's a tradition among her family. The dreams of her ancestry remain there. So long as the bucket is kept in the family, their dreams will live on as well.
