Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. This kid was dropped off a few weeks before new years eve, the last of her litter left unadopted and the breeder unable to take care of her. Shes been in the kennel in our shelter for a long while and now has been able to find a new home of her own. She is excited as ever and may have gotten into our glowstick jewelry.

Before she was brought into the shelter, Mia was with her siblings... well, for the most part. When her breeder started to adopt the kittens out, Mia watched all of her siblings get adopted, and she became upset because no one wanted her-- that's what she thought. So when she was dropped off at the shelter, she behaved oddly, she didn't act like herself. Mia often scratched at the workers there, she gave them all a hard time. But one day, a human appealed to her; they came in to adopt a cat... and she was that cat. She softened up around them, and for the first time in weeks, the she-cat purred. It was evident that this cat attached to the human, and that human was attached to her. It wasn't long after their first greeting that Mia got adopted.

When she got out of the shelter.. Mia was ecstatic! She was happy to be with a new human, and she often pranced around, purring along side her owner. She sort of behaved like a dog, she always followed her owner, and listened well to them. Mia learned a various amount of tricks, and she went on walks with her owner! Even though a new year was right around the corner, Mia wasn't concerned in any way-- she was happy. Mia knows that the new year will be a good one. She's got a new home, nice new collar, new toys... and a new family. Mi's very thankful for being adopted, and now she understands why she wasn't adopted before she was in the shelter; she was meant to be where she is now!

To her, the world was beautiful. There was a lot of space, a lot of love and security. She had always despised it, but now-- all she sees is a big opportunity! Mia sees new adventures! She sees a brand new life; she can finally reboot and live her life as the playful, kind, and oddly obedient cat that she is!

While Nuri was a bred cat, she hadn't really been outside of the grounds too much because of it, but she had always kind of wanted to go out into the wide world. Still, it scared her to see what was out there, so when she arrived at the shelter it was kind of surprising to her to see all of the pets there. Mostly because they seemed to all be so friendly to her and she thought that not everyone out in the world was going to be nice, but that's also true.



Nuri sat in the apartment in a room with the other two cats as she heard the talking coming from the living room of the apartment. She looked over at the other pets and wanted to ask if they knew what was happening, but since she was new, she didn't want to be rude. She jumped off of the cat tree and walked over to the open door, poking her head out.
Nuri looked up at where her owner was standing as they talked to a large group of people that were at the house. Nuri gulped and went back into the cat tree to stay away from the people, being slightly scared at all of the new company in the house. She didn't really know what was happening and was scared that bad things would happen if she got too close. The two other cats stood up and both kind of left the room, talking about the time of year, how this has happened before. Nuri perked up and moved back over to the door, watching as the other two just kind of walked into the crowd, getting pets here and there. Nuri gulped and walked out of the room, her curled tail seeming to be just down a little bit.
Her owner smiled as the smaller cat walked over to her leg and rubbed on it, seems to just try to get comfortable. Nuri ended up getting picked up and had between her ears scratched, purring loudly. It wasn't as bad as she thought it was going to be, she was just nervous. So many people were in the house and she had never really been around this many people. They all seemed to be very nice from what Nuri could tell. However, they were her owner's friends and they had seemed to always be good people from the way they were talked about. Nuri rubbed up on her owner and listened to the TV as it was turned on.
"Guys, hurry! We have less than a minute till the ball drops!"
All the humans gathered around the couch and the TV and watched the screen as people everywhere was counting down. The human chanted together loudly as the ball slowly went down. Nuri got up and stood on the back of the couch, meowing as if chanting with the humans as the ball went down.
"Five... Four... Three... Two... One... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!"
Loudly popping noises rang out in Nuri's ears as confetti went into the air and all over the floor as it fell. Nuri sprang up at the confetti, the humans laughing and cheering, celebrating the new year. The other two cats yawning and stretching as the party went into the night, while Nuri joined them. For her first time out of the breeder's home, the new world seemed to be nice to her. Nuri smiled and hoped that the world would continue to be nice. [585/1000]

Personality(Extra): Nuri is actually quite a hyper cat once you get past her kind of shyness. Nuri doesn’t really fit in with the cats I’m her new home, often finding them rude, but her calming demeanor helps when they cause trouble with others. Even when she herself might be getting in some type of trouble. She is like a stereotypical cat really. Lounging about, knocking over anything she finds fit, laying in an odd way. While even thought she can sometimes not act like that it’s her normal mood or way she feels. The only thing she doesn’t have is begging, as she just doesn’t find it very nice or ‘lady-like’ as her friend calls it. While this causes her owner to question why she doesn’t want food like the other two cats, but sees it as fine just disregards it, like kind of a form of respect. Sure she may not be the typical cat, but she’s loved and gives love back all the time.
