I discovered this picture while looking for inspo to help with the forest booth flitlings,
and I thought, man, that would make a cool flit.


This will be more of an open comp, so it will be open for 3 weeks.

Ava's always had Lucid dreams.
Since she was young, she'd have lucid dreams almost every night.
Many times, she'd forget if she had just woken up or just fallen asleep, only being able to tell if she pinched herself or bit her lip.
She didn't mind too much.
Her dreams were an escape.
An escape from the world that tormented her very soul.

You see, ever since he was young, he knew he was...
Different.
He'd be able to do things many others couldn't.
Quickly, though
He realized how the world hated different.

She'd get teased.
Bullied.
She'd come home with bruises for thinking she was in a dream.
She'd cry to her single mother, her body shaking.
"Mama, mama, they pulled my ears."
"Mama, mama, they tripped me down the stairs."
"Mama, mama, they hurt me bad."
Until

It was a snowy, winter evening when he had come home late from tutoring.
He set his bag down, wincing as it slid over the bruise he had gotten from a particularly hard shove.
He hurried off to his mothers room as he felt the tears already bubbling up.
He pushed open the door, ready to call for his mother
The words died on his tongue.
He stared at his mother, cold and gone.

She felt her throat ache as she screamed
And screamed
And screamed
Until she was pulled into someone's chest, and she felt the cold nipping her cheeks.
Outside.
She stared as they pulled her mother into an ambulance.

He pinched himself purple.
It couldn't be real, his mother would never leave him like this.
But
He didn't wake up.
And neither did his sweet mother.
