Prompt: Early in life Shiroi was very melancholy due to his poor sight. His inability to fully appreciate the color and beauty of the world made him feel depressed. There was also a constant fear settled deep in the back of his mind; a fear of being attacked or otherwise injured simply because he didn't see the danger coming.

When he met Anteka, his life gradually began to improve. For a while the two of them were traveling companions, as Anteka worried for Shiroi's safety, but during their travels they developed a close friendship. Anteka taught Shiroi that he could still see the beauty of the world with other senses, like the calm sound of a spring rain, the warmth of the afternoon sun on his face or the scent of flowers in bloom. That deep love for all aspects of the world found its way to Shiroi's heart as he began to perceive his surroundings in a different way.

Since those days, he's come to accept his poor vision. He's learned to form a strong bond with nature even without sight, which has brought him peace and contentment.

He tries not to spook anybody too much, and doesn't look directly at them (he often gives others the impression that he is 'looking through them' and seeing their secrets). Instead he tends to keep his nose to the ground as though he is sniffing for scents, although in reality he tends to 'feel' where everything is and what is happening around him, rather than relying on traditional senses.

He developed a strong sense of intuition that has helped him to narrowly escape from a great many misadventures, and it is likely that there will be plenty more in the future!

I can't remember much.

Life has been a blur- literally. I am almost completely blind.

I don't remember how I lost my vision. I woke up one morning feeling sick and distraught. The strangest part of it all was that I having serious trouble seeing. Everything was hazy and distorted. Some plants now looked like they were upside down and attached to the sky. Trees looked as small as ants. When it rained, raindrops looked as big as the trees once did.

Every day it gets worse. The distortion becomes more intense, and my vision becomes cloudier.

On top of that, my memory worsens every day too. It's gotten to the point where I can't remember my own name, or how old I am, or my favorite foods. The one thing I can remember, though, is how many days it's been since I've been cursed. I decided to make that number my name, since I can't remember what it used to be. Today my name is 762. Tomorrow, 763.

I'm cursed. I know I'm cursed. The voices in my head tell me I am. I hate the voices.

Everyone treated her differently: pity became a never-ending presence in her life and not to mention that it is always the unknown what makes the fear bloom in the heart of those who deem themselves as the average.
The unknown to most people is that, something to be afraid of, but to some is mystery, a challenge, or simply, a curiosity: that’s what he saw when she first met her. She was reserved, she always acted naïve to the whispered words and tried to act as if she didn’t realize she was a burden to some.
Approaching her was not the difficult part: letting her know that there weren’t ill intentions hidden in his heart was the toughest task, and yet, he did not bend, he was determined to be a part of her life.
She was afraid at first, opening her heart wasn’t something she had ever done before, and yet she couldn’t help but to giggle at his silly jokes and to wait impatiently for his return: he never once failed to meet her. For once, she felt normal. She realized that, with his help, she could see things that most people ignored while being absorbed in the monotonous life they sustained. Her favorite memory is and would always be, the trip to the floating lights in a secluded pond, hidden in the forest. There, a promise was made, a promise to never let go of each other and to never abandon one another.
As the joyful day passed, the time had come, and the coronation took place. He was now a king, but nothing, and no one, would change his mind, because what is invisible to the eye, can be essential to the heart:

It happens on the darkest nights. When the lost are giving up hope, they see a light. Following it, they find themselves exactly where they wanted to be. And if they were looking hard, they would see a white creature, with unseeing eyes.

That's Ellowyn. It's easy to overlook her. She never speaks. Even if she did, you probably wouldn't hear. No one hears.

She hears everyone. Sometimes there are people like her, struggling to be heard. Sometimes she's the only one that hears them. She considers reaching out to them - she really wants to. But she could never.

She doesn't try to make them notice her, either. It feels easier to let them ignore her. Especially because she's blind. They see her as a bother. Useless. But they're wrong.

All bush hounds guide lost campers. But what if it's so dark that even they can't see? Then she steps in.

Light and Dark are just concepts to her. Just another part of a world she'll never be a part of. This means that when no one else can see, she guides the travellers. She does so by listening.

They'd think differently of her, if they knew. They wouldn't find her useless. They'd understand that her blindness was no disability. But for that to happen, they'd have to hear her. And they would never hear her. They will never hear her.
