Orion had been sitting there for at least an hour now, eyes eating words as they demolished one book after the other. It was a series and a rather good one too, he had already read through the first two and was halfway through the third so of course, he didn't hear any of the movement around him. He was invested, the rest of the series stacked around him in wait.
Only a few people knew how he got when he was invested. One of those being Kou, who, upon closer inspection of the library around him, was sitting across from him, head in his arms, eyes following his every move. Upon being noticed, Kou smiled, head falling to the side into his elbows, it was weird, considering how tall Kou really was, to be looking down to him for once, but he often did this, lay on the table to look up at him rather than the other way around.
"Whatcha reading?" He mumbled. Kou was smart and strong, and popular. He often wasn't seen in the library because it was considered his brother's domain, but he made exceptions, such as now...
"How long have you been sitting there?" Orion mumbled softly, he could already feel a gentle heat rising up his body. How long had Kou been waiting for him? How long had he really been tuned out for? He assumed an hour but...
"Stop worrying, only a minute or two. I called your name, but you didn't respond. Now, what are you reading, Oddball?"
Oddball, he had heard the name a lot. But never had it come off as gently as it did when it managed to escape the lips of Kou. There was no malice in his words, only gentle curiosity. Considering their difference in social rankings, most found it odd, even odder than himself, that Kou would even let himself be seen with him. After all, not many people wore the colours he did, not many people wore the makeup he did. Their school was a battleground and had it not been for that gentle curiosity, he would have been dead meat by now.
"It's about a boy, who, born seemingly without anything special, manages to catch the attention of the greatest knight in their land..." Orion spoke softly, letting the words he had so hungrily eaten fall into the lap of Kou. Unaware of what he would make of them in the end. The more he spoke, the faster the words came, bubbling out from his mouth as a smile lit up his face. It wasn't often he was able to talk about the things he enjoys, but he was glad that if anything, he had managed to make one friend who would willingly listen to him ramble on.

xAs theories and head cannons of his own started to pour out, his hands quickly moved to cover his mouth, he had watched as slowly Kou's eyebrows had lifted and his eyes had trailed elsewhere halfway through his explanation of why he thought the knight had picked the boy in the first place.
"I'm sorry. I'm talking too much aren't I?" Orion mumbled softly, that gentle heat rising once again, crawling up his neck and spreading across his face, there was a soft smile on his lips as they shut like always, shoulders hunching up to hide his face as much as he would be able while looking out from under the brim of his hat to the boy across from him for some sort of response... the blush across his cheeks, in fact it was his blushing that had sparked that gentle curiosity from Kou.
'Woah! It's like your eyes and blush have swapped colours!' He had exclaimed the first time they had met, of course by now he had considered his faint blue blush natural, but it seemed to be the one thing that had managed to drawn the taller one attention in from the very beginning. Not that you'd be able to get away with not noticing something about him, but of all things...
"Never. In fact, you often talk so little, it's nice hearing your voice." There was a soft laugh that caught on the wind and made its way into his ears, the blue across his cheeks flaring up even more so than usual due to it. 'Lies, he's lying...' A nasty voice in the back of his head whispers. 'Why would he want to hear you talk about your stupid book anyway?' As thought after thought pushed to the front of his brain, the blush on his cheeks deepened and he sunk into his chair, trying to hide himself the best he could, of course, he doesn't want to hear about the stories... They were his interest, not Kou's.
"You're just getting a little loud, it's not like you and I know you don't like people staring... but..." Looking around the library, all eyes were on him and his table, the colour from his face could never have drained so fast, attention wasn't the best of things for someone like him. Too many possibilities for different outcomes. Turning back slowly and methodically to try and minimize the amount of attention he was catching from the crowds, he watched as the small pile of books he had collected around himself had been pulled into Kou's arms, Orion tilted his head, slightly confused as the boy had stood up and began to walk off.
"Where are you going?" "To my room." "Why?" "So you can read and discuss the book with me in peace." "Am I coming?!" "Of course. You don't expect me to read these, do you? Hurry up, let's go get them checked out. I want to see whether or not the Knight is the kid's father or not... like you said."
Standing slowly he happily followed after the taller boy, a soft smile on his lips as he fell into step with him. He really should have known, there is absolutely no reason for him to be shy or bashful around Kou over the things he liked, the things he enjoyed.
With others, maybe, but with Kou...
No. There was something odd about him in that sense.
