here it is! the brand new trait you've all been waiting for <3 I think it's pretty nifty if I do say so myself, and we hope you all do too.
This dude is based around winter turning into spring. the flowers blooming within the barrenness and death that comes with the end of winter. Life from death; all that fun stuff.
For this competition I'd like you to tell me how they deal with such a change. How do they get out of their Winter habits, and in turn, prepare for the coming of Spring? You have unlimited words to tell me this, and there are also no limits on your extras; but please remember that quantity =/= quality. I would love to see some thorough character development.
END DATE: MAY 25TH

Absolute res man. ^.^
This guy is the most precious.
name: freyja and tanda
gender: female
ideas:
- a half-deity that helps with the balance of life and death.
- freyja is a neutral party that favors neither death nor life more than the other.
- freyja is blind, symbolizing the previous point.
- tanda is the seer of life and death. they decide who must die and who may live in order to maintain equilibrium.
- perhaps freyja fell in love with a male that Tanda said must die and Freyja was forced into a difficult spot. ( would need the male. )
name;freyja

UN: milo. | G: male | GFBP: male-----------------------------------------------------------------

the troupe has been gathered 'round each other for a short while now, their shadows dancing along the snow patched ground along with their swaying bodies by the fire pit. laughter and happy chatter flitting on the crisp breeze causes Gyven to smile lightly, but the male and his comrade have other plans for the evening. purple eyes flit to the busheled tail hovering over his body-- the sentient appendage stares past the male animatedly, strange maw opening and moving as though it were speaking, but no words nor noise could escape. this doesn't stop Gyven from understanding just what his partner was trying to convey. the male stretches out a paw, shifting aside the slushy snow to reveal a small pink flower bud attempting to bloom.
the male throws his paw back quickly, not realising how close the flower was to blooming and sharing it's life and and light with the world. should Gyven dare touch it directly, he runs the risk of killing the plant and though he could, in theory, bring the flower back to life - that was entirely beside the point. it wasn't life... it was reanimation, and there was always a risk of having things fall apart in the long run because of it.
Mirtis leans forward slowly, large head bouncing as it sniffs at the flower and turns it's attention toward Gyven once more, wordlessly moving it's mouth and motioning with some leaves toward the small budding flower. Gyven shakes his head, instead laying his muzzle between his fore paws to regard the flower quietly. this was simultaneously a very stressful and yet oddly satisfying time of year for the male -- the natural transition from winter to spring, death to life. flowers and grasses and animals thriving, rising from the ashes like that of a phoenix to spread it's wings and spread fire throughout the world.
the stress of how careful Gyven must be, especially at the start of spring, has the Viscet's nerves tingling with anxiety. the static causes him to act particularly manic, and yet all too lethargic at the same time. it's a strange muddle of emotion, one that causes a short fuse at times, but how could he dare consider risking the lives of things surrounding him. Gyven already couldn't touch those around him-- it made reunions rather awkward and relationships difficult to manage. Mirtis was company enough, the only thing he could be physical with without the fear of accidentally taking it's life, but without a proper conversation the male does find himself rather lonely at times. Mirtis shifts, laying against the Viscet's body heavily and shuddering as though to release a breathless sigh.
Gyven mirrors the action with his own long exhale.
the crunching of frozen snow has Gyven quirking a brow, eyes flicking to the side and muzzle shifting only slightly to try and gaze from the side to see who was approaching. Povas, smiling though shrouded in concern, steps in closely without fear. if there was one thing about Povas that Gyven respected above all else, it was his ability to treat all of his oddities without judgement. he treats them all with respect and treats them no different to how he would treat his own blood-- they were all family, after all, regardless of what powers the Gods had graced them with. regardless of what strangeness clouds them. the flashy male seats himself lazily before the traptail, head tilted and ears slicked back as he regards the skies and surrounding area. Mirtis lifts it's head, wavering like a snake ready to strike. Gyven lifts a paw to push at the heavy tail in warning. "Povas will not harm flower," he whispers harshly at the appendage. "he understands."
"yes," the ringmaster flashes a bright grin, ears flicking and eyes wandering the skies a moment longer before finally falling to the green male and his companion. "no harm will come to your flower, Mirtis. i love to see the flowers bloom, especially this early into spring. why, there is still snow on the ground! and the flowers are already beginning to push through. in the grasses. in the trees. it makes your heart bloom along with them, does it not?" Povas, in his typical fashion, is speaking animatedly with paws pointing and arms outstretched, body shifting and tail swishing behind him happily. Gyven offers the ringmaster a small smile, but it falls a short moment after. this doesn't go unnoticed by the flamboyant male, and Povas settles down onto his belly so he's at eye level with the skeletal patterned boy. Gyven shuffles back only slightly, to avoid accidentally touching the galaxy speckled master.
"i wish for you to speak with me about your powers, Gyvenimas." Povas offers, expression warm and almost paternal, as he often was with his troupe. he and his mate had yet to have children, and so Povas took it upon himself to adopt the oddities of their show. "i know of them, but i do not know about them in full. please, to be teaching me everything about you. it is due time i learn. i am sorry, not to have asked before now." and Gyven knew that he was speaking the truth-- Povas would never have intentionally avoided asking such questions. he was simply rather scatter brained, and it probably had only occurred to him now in this very moment. Gyven glances at his companion, heaving a sigh and pushing himself back and away with his forepaws just an inch or two further. he couldn't imagine what would happen, should he accidentally sap the life of their master.
Gyven stays quiet a moment, purple pools a muddle of anxiety and excitement-- he'd never truly been asked to explain himself before, aside from in heated arguments. others were merely far too nervous to get too close. too wary to upset him, least he turn his powers of Reaping on them. Mirtis headbutts the male gently in the side, and Gyven finally parts his maw with a stutter.
"it started when we were young," he starts, leaning against his tail for support while he tells their story. "we were oddballs of our clan, because of Mirtis, but Mother and Father accepted us regardless of what others predicted. it was said that we were an omen. that we would bring ruin and the downfall of our clan, but Mother and Father fought for our right to stay. though our family became the scapegoats of the clan, we were allowed to stay so long as we kept our heads down and did what we were told to do.
we were about a year old when Father got very sick. it was near the end of a very harsh winter, and the clan had said to leave him be and allow Mother Auwei and the Gods to take his spirit when it was time. we never wanted Father to leave, but we did not want to see him suffering any longer either. one night, before we settled in for sleep, we prayed to the Gods and Mother Auwei-- we asked her to guide Father and let him rest without pain.
she came to us in our dreams that night, touching our foreheads with both paws. she never spoke a word to us, but we were overwhelmed with a sense of understanding. when we woke, we knew something wonderful and magical had happened. we understood... but we did not understand what exactly it was that we were understanding. understand?"
Povas blinks blankly, but nods along encouragingly, urging the traptail to continue.
"we went to Father immediately, feeling that we had a purpose to serve, thanks to the Gods. however, when we lay our paw against Father's shoulder, his body arched off the ground violently-- it was as though our very touch burned him. we yanked our paw away quickly, but a soothed smile graced Father's features for the first time in days as he lay against the earth once more. he reached for us, mouthing gentle i love you's before he exhaled his last breath of life. we were frantic. had we caused such a thing? did we do this to Father? despite the clan gathering to mourn, despite them trying to shoo us away for fear that we had done this to him, Mirtis laid on top of Father carefully... and what happened stunned everyone, including ourselves.
Father took a breath.
it was a miracle, by the grace of the Gods themselves-- Mirtis had been able to bring Father back, when i had killed him." Gyven heaves a sigh, purples flashing to the side to stare awkwardly at the snow covered ground. he always felt out of place when speaking of his powers, despite not being alone in that regard. "what Father had, however... it was not life. he was alive, but he was not living. there was something entirely too strange and off about him, but nobody could place what it was. reanimation is not the same as bringing one back from the land of the dead, we have found. we can bring things back to life, but the spirit has already found it's peace elsewhere. we used to think it was our purpose to aid Winter and Spring... yet we have come to find that we are not particularly wanted anywhere."
Povas shakes his head, tentatively reaching out toward the other but pausing before he touches. he knows, if he were to touch, he runs the risk of losing his life. a tragic reality for Gyven, but he retracts his paw respectfully to lay near the flower that was trying it's hardest to bloom so early. "you are wanted here, Gyvenimas."
the skeletal nods grimly, ears slicking back and chest heaving with a sigh. "i know we are," he offers the ringmaster a small smile, Mirtis bobbing happily behind the male's shoulder. "however, we must keep to ourselves during the start of spring time. should we interfere too much, the land we walk on risks losing it's life and spirit. it is best we stay away. Mirtis has the ability to bring things back, but as i said... it is no life to live. we would rather keep away and admire the life that blooms from death from afar. it is all we can do, until the hot sun beats down and the grasses begin to dry up and wither. then we may roam as we please once more."
Povas hums quietly to himself, head tilted and ears at attention as he contemplates this male's story. jumping to his paws, the flashy male motions with his muzzle toward the fire and the rest of the troupe. Gyven goes to shake his head, but Mirtis headbutts him playfully, as though trying to push him in the other direction. "come along," the ringmaster declares finally, happy grin gracing his features. "you do not have to admire life from afar. come, join us at the fire. dance and sing and tell us all your stories. after all," his grin grows far wider as he begins his saunter toward the troupe; "the fire is just like you. it may kill what it touches, but life still rises from the ashes."

△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽ ccccccThey say he was born from a single flower that sprouted from a mound freshly packed glistening snow, that swayed ever so delicately in the cold winter winds. The glow that flower emitted could be seen for miles as snow rained down from the darkened skies, attracting any weary travelers to inspect its radiance. No one knew how the flower managed to survive in the harsh winter, continuing to flourish and protect travelers from the eerie nights. Though, as spring began to creep and the snow began to thaw, a mysterious ivy began to suffocate the flower's roots. It appeared to swallow the light of this delicate flower, devouring its life. Day by day, the ivy began to pull the dying flower down before both disappeared entirely one day. Yet, the flower was brought to none other than the lord of Ishemorta, Wraith. With sickly intent, he cursed the flower and ivy, creating the birth of a new Viscet that would be known as Elysium.
cccccc▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
cccccccccThe window was pushed open, aged hinges creaking. The world outside was dark and gloomy, inhabited by demons and other creatures that pledged their loyalty to Wraith and his representative, Tristesse. He'd awoken early this time around from his little "hibernation," nearly two weeks early. Elysium sighed heavily, leaning against the cold stone sill as he planted his chin firmly against his paw pads. He could feel the shift in the air: spring was around the corner and a familiar itch tugged his heart pitifully at the thought. Elysium slowly sank down against the wall, sighing as he curled his tail over his lap, stroking the broadhead. Would Wraith let him back up to stroll the barren grasslands of Phiaddesia? The deserted forests that rattled with each chilling breeze? All to bring the light back to the lands. To bring forth the greenery that would lavish the world in a new light. To sprout the delicate blue violets and the magical red roses. Every year since he could remember being in Ishemorta, Wraith grew more cold and distant with the idea of Elysium leaving for a week or so to bring life back to the mortal world. Elysium begged... and begged.... and begged for Wraith to let him go.
cccElysium was torn from his thoughts. He felt a stir, glancing down as Venus shook out its head out.
ccc"What issss on your mind, sssweet?" Venus purred out in a sickly voice, one that Elysium had grown very used to. He smiled faintly, scratching under Venus' chin as he debated on how to phrase his sentence.
ccc"I was... thinking about spring. I hope Lord Wraith lets us go to the mortal realm this time around.." He let out a heavy sigh, eyebrows knitting together. Elysium's ears curled back as he chewed on his lip momentarily, not noticing the faint bubble of stress tears pooling in his eyes. Venus tilted its head curiously.
ccc"Why sssshould he not ssssend usss back up there? After all, without ussss, ssspring doess not exissst for the mortalss." Venus chirped out, the tendrils of leaves swaying with each word. Elysium lifted his gaze back to Venus and nodded faintly.
ccc"Yeah... but you know Lord Wraith... He prefers the idea of death over life, obviously." He gestured to the window. Elysium shook his head, dragging his paw over his face as he gave another sigh. He felt defeated almost like it was no use to go to Wraith to ask permission to leave. Yet.. he had to. Or the mortals would not be able to enjoy the warmth that spring would bring. However, Elysium felt the urge to go back into his hibernation, feeling utterly exhausted physically and mentally. Venus gave a reassuring nuzzle to his paw and let out their own sigh, falling quiet as the uncomfortable desert-like heat began to seep into the room from the opened window. No matter the season of the mortal world, Ishemorta was stuck dealing with the uncomfortable heat. It made Elysium queasy. It was either that or... the anxiety that bubbled within at the idea of asking to return to Phiaddesia to restore the plant life for the dear mortals.
cccElysium made his mind up. He rose to his feet, carefully closing the window and latching it shut. He inhaled slowly through his nose, eyes fluttering shut as he exhaled through his mouth. He did this for a few good moments to relax, clenching and unclenching his paws. The knot that his stomach twisted itself into began to uncurl, the sensation being buried as he calmed slowly. He went through this every year as spring neared. But it was HIS duty to make sure the mortals were able to enjoy a green, lively spring. Lord Wraith had to let him go back to their realm... right? He shook his head, clenching his eyes tighter as the negatives seeped back in, fighting to shove them back down. Suddenly, Elysium snapped his eyes back open and turned to face the large aged oak door, gulping slowly. He glanced back at Venus, who gave a reassuring nod for him to go for it. Inhaling once more, Elysium strolled through the door.
cccThe hallways were quiet, guards standing tall as he neared the throne room. His steps echoed around the stone brick walls, growing ever so reluctant as he neared the archway. Venus nudged his side in comfort as his heart began to race nervously now. The knot returned in his stomach. Elysium tried to calm down, exhaling slowly as he stopped right in the archway. Lord Wraith was reclined on his throne, chattering quietly with Lady Tristesse, his representative. His knees felt weak now. He felt as if he would faint at any time now, his heart thumping heavily in his chest and throat. Elysium gulped dryly and slowly shuffled into the throne room. Lord Wraith's cold gaze snapped to him quickly as he heard the younger male's hesitant approach. Elysium bowed his head, not meeting Wraith's gaze as his ears curled back submissively.
ccc"What do you want this time, Elysium?" Lord Wraith sighed, leaning his chin into his paw as he stared down at the male in disinterest. Elysium shuffled, pretending to inspect his claws for a moment. They went through this conversation every year.
ccc"L-Lord Wraith.... I'd like to request to head to Phiaddesia to help them prepare for the arrival of spring, s-sir." Elysium managed to croak out, chewing his lip as Wraith's gaze hardened. The god leaned forward in his throne, lips curling back into a snarl.
ccc"To do what, Elysium? Bring them joy? Happiness? Let them prance about because their flowers grew back? Do I look like my brother to you?!" Lord Wraith bellowed suddenly. The flames flickering on the walls sparked, arching high and licking the air frantically. Elysium cowered now, lowering his head so his chin rested on his chest as he clenched his eyes. Lord Wraith snarled lowly, sitting back as he glared daggers down at the other. Lady Tristesse had fallen silent, raising a brow as she watched the exchange between the two with amusement glowing in her eyes. Elysium stood silent for a few moments, gathering the courage to speak.
ccc"Please, Lord Wraith... Without my help, Phiaddesia is without their spring. Let me go to them, I promise I will return within a week." Elysium begged, lifting his pleading gaze to Wraith's guarded glare. His voice was meek yet he struggled past that to speak louder, frantic. Wraith ground his jaw and rose to stand fully, towering above Elysium. Venus tucked close to his side in comfort, silent. Elysium stepped back faintly, quickly averting his gaze as he inhaled sharply.
ccc"No, you will not step foot near the mortal realm for as long as you live." Lord Wraith said lowly, eyeing him with a dangerous look in his eyes. Elysium froze, his body numb and cold. He stared up at the mist maned male, mouth agape as tears pitifully filled his eyes. Lord Wraith averted his gaze slightly, grinding his jaw more.
ccc"Now go back to your room, Elysium. I will deal with you tonight." His deep voice rumbled lowly as he eased back into his throne. Elysium sniffled before taking off, blinding sprinting to his room as he tried to hide the hot tears as they began to spill. The door slammed hard behind him, a crack splintering off from the top. He was heaving hard, grief sitting heavy in his stomach as he curled in a ball on the raggedy bed Wraith had given to him.
cccA few hours passed before there was a single, hard knock at the door. Elysium shot up weakly, drawing his paw over his face to wipe his eyes to at least make himself seem more presentable to whoever came to the door. He weakly cracked open the door, glancing up. He froze, biting his lip as he found himself staring up into the eyes of none other than Lord Wraith, who looked anything but happy.
ccc"Elysium, may I speak with you?" Wraith rumbled. Unable to deny his request, he slowly opened the door for the elder. Wraith strolled in, closing the door behind him as Elysium scuttled back from the towering male. Wraith seemed... awkward now. He rubbed the back of his neck.
ccc"Elysium.... The reason that I do not allow you to go to Phiaddesia because, while I trust you, I do not trust that you would not run off or avoid coming back." Wraith started, not meeting Elysium's questioning gaze.
ccc"What are you trying to say, my lord?" Elysium leaned back, frowning as he stared up at him.
ccc".....I prefer you to stay here because it seems I... have gotten feelings for you, Elysium." Wraith rumbled. Disbelief crossed the younger male's face as he stared up at him for a long, drawn out silence. Wraith grew uncomfortable, shuffling as his gaze hardened.
ccc"My lord, I'm honored but I'd rather you trust me enough to go to Phiaddesia. I am the one who brings them their spring after all." Elysium pressed, hopefully. A snarl tugged at Wraith's lips and he immediately regretted pushing the situation.
ccc"I will give you four days and that is it. Return even an hour past the given time and I will send my demons after to retrieve you or even just kill you on the spot." Lord Wraith snapped suddenly yet very slowly, venom dripping from his voice as he stared down at him. Elysium felt relief flood into his system, yet terror still rang in his ears as he glanced up at the lord of Ishemorta.
ccc"Yessir, I understand." Elysium bowed weakly. Lord Wraith growled, storming out. The door slammed hard behind the angered god, Elysium wincing. He slid down the aged oak door ever so slowly, a nervous laughter bubbling as he leaned his head back. Relief washed over him like a gentle wave, enveloping his thumping heart in a light warmth. Venus butted his side.
ccc"Sseeee? That wasn't so bad, was it?" Venus teased, a gentle tilt to their voice. Elysium lowered his gaze to Venus and huffed, rolling his eyes.
ccc"Yeah, no thanks to you. I could have died!" He threw his paws in the air dramatically, Venus chortling in amusement.
ccc"Oh sssshut up and go collect the sssseeds you need for Phiaddesssssia." Venus butted his side again, amused. Elysium shot back up, hoisting up his pouch by the strings as he moved around the room quickly. He gathered all the seeds he could carry in the pouch, closing the lid of the container. With a simple spell, he locked it and cast it back into hiding. The seeds, despite their rather organic appearance, were very magical, ironically. Humming in content, he glanced around the room for any last thing he may have needed before departing from the room.
cccSpring in the mortal realm was the bringing of joy to the residents of Phiaddesia. The barren winter wastelands would thaw, exposing the dead greenery and missing flowers. Yet, the sighting of the Elysium and Venus brought wonder and relief to the mortals, knowing that spring followed his steps from not far behind. His name brought awe to villagers. He'd become a god to them, a myth carrying his name was spread from generation to generation since the first time he had stepped foot in Phiaddesia. He was the reason spring erupted across the winter destroyed lands, regrowing the dying tree's leaves or the restoring the lustrious petals on a single rose.
cccHe spent the four days on Phiaddesia helping them prepare for the approaching spring. He regrew fields of flowers. The gentle canopy of leaves of a forest. Bushes, grasses, anything that had been lost in the winter that year. He helped the mortals dig up dead gardens, helping them prepare the barren soils for new plants. Elysium did everything he could to help them, and himself, prepare for the new season. He did this every year for them and he knew that without him, spring would bring nothing. Phiaddesia would be left to remain a barren wasteland, scarred by a harsh winter. Elysium's winter hibernation was pleasant for himself, but yet he had to awaken earlier than most the ready the mortals for his favorite time of the year. His winter habits were nothing, a resting period that went on until he was sure spring was soon. He loved helping the mortals, earning the cheers when he arrived and the cheers when he finished the preparations.
cccThe first blooming flower from the grip of death that held the now barren lands always brought life to Elysium. Not just metaphorically; as much as spring needed him, he needed spring to survive, literally. It was his lifeline.

Marking, thinking about entering this one, but am unsure about how much longer i can handle overtaxing my brain. Might take a break for a lil bit after this event ends to give my brain a break.
Where there is a will, there is a way. Find your path to righteousness and never sway from the path. March on one foot infront of the other, and keep your head high. By as many steps ahead of your rivals and enemies as possible. But do not underestimate anyone.
