How do they act around people they have fallen for?: Throughout his life, Joel's never really verbally expressed any sort of love he might feel, be it towards friends or even family. While that may be true even in this case, he treats falling for someone as something completely different than a mutual love. While a feeling he's felt many times each time he falls for someone he treats such as a foreign feeling and an inconvenience, but it's not like his mindset really helps him. He can't exactly stop himself from falling in love, if he really wanted to he'd stop talking to others but he couldn't live through that, could he?
Without really noticing what he's doing for a vast majority of time when he's fallen in love there are a lot of ways Joel's behavior changes. He normally finds himself desperately hoping that whoever he falls for notices his small acts of moving closer to them, his humorous nature toning down a bit, along with some nervous sweating in between. None of that has actually worked for him. 
He's always had a weak heart [perhaps both physically and mentally]; he'll get attached to others easily yet it's hardly noticeable, and he's never truly confessed his feelings to anyone he's fallen for, he simply grows distant and pushes the person away without meaning too. Sometimes good friendships end up falling apart because Joel doesn't believe he'd be a good partner in the first place.

"All I want to do is lie around and sleep and my head's just a mess. Gosh, I'm really boring, aren't I?" He'd mutter this under his breath every once in a while and maybe even make a joke of it eventually.

Everything above isn't to say that Joel's own thoughts about himself above are how most see him. Joel's sociability isn't something to be looked down on. It's entirely himself that slips away from any romance he might want. In general he isn't doing too bad. Joel is quite devout to his hobbies; he loves playing games, reading comics, writing jokes, drawing, as well as discussing all four. It seems almost funny for him to be so invested in his "accidental" falling in love, that hurts him so much.
In the end there isn't any medicine better than playing one of his favorite sad dating simulators when things go badly. After all, there's always next time!

,It seems he passed out on his laptop keyboard before he could finish ranting on his pent up thoughts. His teeth are bared in an ugly smirk but asleep he is. The words, a bit sappy, is he doing okay? At least there's another way to let it out other than crying for him.

Pointless but fun trivia:

‣ Joel legitimately goes to sites like wiki-how for help and advice. As expected, it doesn't normally work out for him.

‣ He often squints at things and really needs glasses. In fact, he already owns a pair, but really needs to use them more often. (gosh, if i have the chance of winning i'd love to give him some cute circular glasses)

‣ A lot of cheesy movies can send him to tears. Heck, even cutscenes of his favorite games can get him crying.

‣ He has a strange obsession with hazelnuts . He normally carries a bag of roasted hazelnuts around with him if he ever gets a bit of an appetite.

‣ He gets dehydrated easily.

‣ He decides a lot of things on an impulse and has trouble planning out things thoroughly.

‣ He's actually gets along quite well with most people, it's almost unlucky for him sometimes.

‣ He enjoys visiting peaceful and rural areas but would only want to live there when he's much older.

‣ Believes in people having soulmates; maybe apart of why he's scared to fall in love in the first place.

‣ Can't really differentiate cute from obnoxious. He's prefer something elegant over something cute.
