Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. This boy was dropped off by a person from a nearby neighborhood who was moving soon. Unfortunately, they didn't own the cat, the cat just visited them often. Apparently the cat was almost like a lingering spirit in the neighborhood, or at least the person described it that way. He was never seen in the day, only at dusk or night, and they described his eyes as "soulstealing" due to the paleness in the color. Apparently most of the neighborhood came up with some superstitious stories or rumors. Maybe you've heard them as well?

Rumors have been spread around about a ghost cat who lurks in the morning glow and the afternoon shadows. They say he goes wherever he wants and does whatever he wants to do. Neighbors have complained about the ghost cat entering their house and stealing their own cat's food. Animal shelters cannot catch this cat without expecting a fight. He obviously is very clever and outsmarts them every time. Until he let down his guard. People say the ghost cat was walking in the middle of the street at midnight when a black cat attacked him. He won of course with his 'ghost powers' that frightened off the attacker. Exhausted, the ghost cat who just defended his territory needed rest. A young man found the ghost cat asleep underneath an oak tree the following morning. Too tired to care, the ghost cat let himself be carried off and taken to the Animal shelter where he got checked over. Little rumors are spread around like he fought his way out of the shelter the following night or that a cat thief stole him from his cage. Alas, none were true. He had been adopted and was now loving his new home and neighborhood. He was no longer the ghost cat that had many rumors trailing his legacy, he was Remi the simple house cat.

They say that Enigma once had an owner who lived in this area. Apparently this person was quiet, and rarely seen out of doors without lots of heavy layers of clothing. Enigma was their constant companion, more loyal than even the best dog. But, one day his owner died. Enigma himself was at the vets for a short stay, being quite old. He was at least twenty years old when this happened.
The day his owner died he disappeared from the vet's office.
Then he began to reappear at different houses around the neighborhood. He would stay in one for a bit, then move on. Rumor has it he is like a ghost cat, still looking for the owner he will never find.

There was this rumor going around, that Kayo was the cat of two kids, that he showed up one day very soon after their mother had passed away. It was said that the mother had dealt with spirits and demons, and one had escaped the sealing he had been under, and come after the kids. A young man claiming to have been there friend (this was about 5 years ago, he said) said they sealed the demon away, but he ended up in the cat. He said the possessed cat helped them with other spirits and demons, then left the cat. An old woman said that the cat just showed up in the neighborhood one day.

Yet others claim maybe it is really a fox demon or spirit masquerading as a cat. Who knows? Only he does.

Rumor?: Some believe that Rye is an image of death himself. But not in the way people would think when they hear "death". Rye has been know to appear at people's houses when they are weak from illness, however, even the worst patients, who even the doctors had no hope left for, would somehow survive their illness' and near-death experiences. As soon as they were better again, Rye would disappear. While this was a popular rumor, some people also believed that he was like some sort of "guardian demon". Mainly because he only appeared at night, people quite often felt his pale blue and green eyes on them, he was seen fighting off dark "creatures" that nobody knew what they were, and because when someone was in danger, he always seemed to be there, waiting as if in anticipation to see if his luck would cash out or prevail... a few people even thought he was a lucky charm.. a ghostly lucky charm.
