DCH #80 - German Shepherd!

Postby Bella. » Tue Apr 28, 2015 11:44 pm

The third in the theme of ten puppy horses! This lil cutie is based on a German Shepherd dog, and since they are frequently used as service dogs I decided to give a special harness to this boy along with his collar <3
Characteristics about these horses and why they are special;
- Wear a dog collar, optional name printed
- Badger face nose print
- Birdcatcher spots form a pawprint on shoulder or hind
- Eye and dorsal stripe colour will be different
- Generally shorter than the average Dingo Creek horse.

Genotype; ee aa STYsty PnPn
Phenotype; Sooty Pangaré Golden Chestnut, Brown eyes, Hunter green Dorsal Stripe

To try for this boy, I want to see a picture of something amazing about dogs that will be sure to melt anyone's heart. This one is pretty vague, there aren't any strict guidelines or anything <3

I think many know the legend of the japanese dog Hachiko.
He was an Akita dog which waited every day at the satation for the return of his owner, who was an professor at a university, until he came back with the train. One day the professor had died at the university unexpected. Hachiko didn't know that his owner was dead and came everyday to the station and waited hours for him.
Years over years passed by and he still waited for his owner. At the end he also died because of many deceases.
Until today Hachiko is the symbol of loyality for the japanese and he also got a bronze statue at the train station in Shibuya.
(Sorry if this story is nearly the same as the one above :/)

Bamse was a Saint Bernard that served aboard a Norwegian minesweeper during World War II. Despite his cute and cuddly appearance—Bamse means “cuddly bear” in Norwegian—he was extremely tough. Bamse was originally brought on board by the ship’s captain. When the captain tried to take Bamse with him when leaving for another posting, the crew, who had grown fond of the dog, threatened to leave the ship if he was taken away. They loved the dog so much that they would have mutinied rather than lose him.

Bamse became legendary in Dundee and Montrose, where the ship was stationed during World War II. He rode buses alone with a specially made bus pass tied around his neck, made sure that drunken sailors made it back to their posts, and allegedly put a stop to bar fights. Once, he rescued a crewman who’d fallen overboard by diving in to drag him to safety. He rescued another crewman cornered by a knifeman by barreling into the attacker and dragging him into the water. But Bamse was more than just a hero—he was also a peacemaker. It was reported that when sailors got into fights on board, he forced them to stop by standing on his hind legs with his paws on their shoulders as if to say, “Calm down, it’s not worth it.” And Bamse wasn’t just famous in Scotland, where his ship was based—every Christmas, he was dressed in a little sailor’s hat and photographed so that his picture could be put on Christmas cards and sent to the crewmates’ relatives in Norway.

This is Jess, an English Springer spaniel, who helps out her owner on their sheep farm. She does more than herd the sheep, but has taken it into her own - er - mouth to care for the orphaned lambs by bottle feeding them! She loves to help out carrying buckets and stuff too, how cute!

This gentle giant is Barry, the life saving dog. As they say he rescued 40 people! Or about 40. He rescued a baby but the mother died before he could tell the other rescuers. :( You can see Barry's stuffed body in Bern, Switzerland. His real name is Barry der Menschenretter. (MEN-shun-RET-tuh) Big name, eh? While he was rescuing a young lad, the boy thought he was a wolf or bear so he got out his knife and hit Barry with it. That wasn't the end of Barry der Menschenretter was it? No. He got better but he was 11 years old when he got stabbed. His master, Michel, died when he went out for a walk with no one and he accidentally slipped/tumbled into a gorge. Barry started to worry because Michel had been out there for longer than usual. Barry scratched on the front door and one of the men let him out. Of course they were worried too so 2 of the men and Barry went to search for Michel. They found him but it was too late. Life no longer existed in him. They put him in a coffin and when the ground was soft enough they buried it. I think that's enough typing for now. Did this dog melt your heart away?
