What Are Painted Hyena Dogs?
A hybrid between an African Wild Dog, Hyena and the domesticated dog. PHD's stand between 65 - 90cm tall and weigh in an around 30 - 50 kg's. They can come in a range of colours and patterns ranging from natural to unnatural. PHD's can also have a range of manes and different tail types.
PHD's are a domesticated hybrid that makes a loyal companion and do well with the company of another character, whether that be another PHD or some-thing or some-one else. However they can be temperamental with strangers.

Personality: Elsu is quite reserved and quiet but he is not shy. He is bold and daring and extremely clever. He is loyal to his friends and family and is very protective over them.
Nicknames: His family and close friends call him Elsu or El, but people who are not as close call him Chayton.

Aquila is a free spirit, she was born and left under an acacia tree alone in the wilderness, she quickly learned how to survive and hunted for every meal, even though her parents left her to die she still searches for them to this day, she is a troublemaker and very crafty, quick-witted, and strong. She loves to joke around and loves fun. She would do anything for her friends and would help anyone that needed it. Although her heart is in the right place, sometimes she ends up causing even more trouble! Oops!

Personality:
Jade is sarcastic and generally rude. She loves to help animals and the environment, and will do as much as she can for an animal in need. She's very stubborn and strong-willed, and if you tell her not to do something, you can bet she'll do it. She loves to take risks and listen to the comments of others the whole time she's doing it. One of her closest acquaintances is another Painted Hyena Dog, Dylan. She first met him on her first day of college, when the two somehow ended up in the same class.

Of course, you just had to forget a pencil on the first day of class! I thought angrily to myself, glaring at the wooden desk before me. I heaved an enormous sigh and tossed a glance at the wall clock. "Ugh." I hissed under my breath. How would the teacher react if I asked for a writing utensil? He'd probably flip, I thought. I mean, the guy seemed nice enough, but all teachers were like that; kind and considerate, until they got to know you. Then they became the real them.
Just as the bell rang, signifying the beginning of the class, another PHD ran into the room and hurried to his seat. Which happened to be right next to mine. As he sat down and hastily arranged his belongings, I studied him out of the corner of my eye. He had a mop of tousled blond hair. His fur was striped in a rapid crisscross pattern. He had a bright red bandanna looped around his neck, and one blue eye the color of frost, and one brown eye the color of melted chocolate. He must have known I was looking at him, because he looked in my direction and, with crossed eyes, grinned goofily. I felt my cheeks grow hot and fixed my gaze on the front of the room, hoping he wouldn't notice the way I was blushing.

"Please take out your notebooks and pens or pencils and be prepared to take notes," the teacher drawled lazily, his eyes sweeping the room. My eyes filled with panic as I carefully pulled out the purple notebook I'd brought for this purpose. I was just about to head to the front of the room to ask the teacher for some form of writing utensil when I felt someone tap my shoulder. "Hey, did you forget a pen?" the PHD that had come in late whispered, his eyes filled with understanding. I bit my lip and nodded, fighting back the tears of panic I could feel stabbing my eyes. "Here, borrow one of mine." He offered me a black pen with a black rubber grip, shiny with newness.
"Th-thank you so much," I whispered softly, gratefully accepting the pen. Relief flooded me. The Painted Hyena Dog smiled at me, and opened his notebook.
Once he had written down a few things, he looked over at me again. "Say, what's your name?" he whispered softly, trying to hide the fact that he was talking to me in the middle of class.
"I'm Jade." I replied, hoping the old man at the head of the class wouldn't hear my words.
"I'm Dylan."
He smiled at me once more before he returned to his work. I smiled secretly to myself, knowing I had already found a friend in this new, exciting place.
