Kasai entered the room swiftly, then set his belongings down. He was supposed to be staying with his boyfriend, Mitsue, but... he had been running late, and Mitsue was nowhere to be found. The guy's belongings were present, however, so clearly he'd already arrived. Kasai was sure to pack extra warm clothes for them, too, because he figured this place would be snowy this time of year. And boy, was he right. It was cold as sin. He just hoped Mitsue had the same idea.

Honestly, the first thing Kasai wanted to see was his boyfriend. The first thing Kasai wanted to do was hang out with the guy--he didn't care how. Maybe explore the town for a while. Things like ice fishing or skiing... and then they could come home from a long, exhausting day to bundle up together. Alas, his love was nowhere to be found. So what could he do now?

Kasai thought for a while, then decided that he was going to do what he came there to do. Spend time with his boyfriend. Even inside the building, though, the cold seeped in, allowing a chill to run down Kasai's spine. He knew he would need to bundle up, so without further ado, Kasai doubled up on layers. He prepared to exit the building. He was going to search for his love. [226 words]

prompt: Hazel smiled after she set up all her items. "I'm so excited to see what its going to be like to be here! I'm so excited, what should I look at first?" Hazel asked herself curiously and excitedly. She felt as though she was shaking in her fur with anticipation for all the fun she was going to have and all the new people she would meet. She smiled "I wanna go see the animals first then I can see the flowers and other kalons!" Hazel chirped to herself. She double checked her room again to be sure it was all in order.

Hazel hopped out of her room once she was done finishing up and looked around "Where to first? Animals, flowers or other kalons?" Hazel asked herself looking around for where she should go first. "Hm, I think I should check out the animals, they may not always be there, anyways, I really don't want to risk that!" Hazel chirped, her love for animals was high and she was super excited, she knew she should probably get something warm to drink soon though because it was pretty cold outside even with her thick fur that she had on her.

What does your Kalon want to see first?

After quickly setting her suitcase aside next to the big, comfy bed Emily took a short peak outside the window before grabbing the thick winter coat she’d brought. Rushing outside while putting it on, she noticed a slight discomfort. She wasn’t used to wearing jackets, especially thick ones. She found it slightly restraining in movement. Where she came from it never snowed. She never needed to wear thick coats against the cold. But the sight of the thick layers of snow and the mountain range stretching in front of her eyes quickly brushed that feeling of discomfort away.
With a plan set into her mind from before she had arrived already she made her way through the village to a small ski rent shop. After waiting in line for a bit she finally managed to get her hands on a snowboard. The board in hand, she made her way up to the elevator lift. She quite enjoyed the ride up with the amazing view over the mountains. Now she was sure, she wanted to feel the life up here. She was going to snowboard down the mountain, through the snow covered trees and hills. When she got off the lift at the top and saw how long the way down actually was, she thought to herself, “snowboarding can’t be much harder than skateboarding, right?”, and began her adventure down the mountains.

Fuilla pressed her nose against the window, ignoring the sting of the cold glass. When her breath fogged her view, she cleared it away with a paw, peering at the scenery outside. Everything was covered in a blanket of.. white. It was all very bright, cheery, and inviting, a massive contrast to the scenery and mood she was used to back at home. In the Rose Kingdom, everything was dark and covered in shadow, and the frost that gently graced the roses in the colder seasons was the only form of ice she was used to seeing. And yet.. the world outside was so very different. She remembered the feeling of the cold soft snow sinking beneath her feet when she had been searching for the inn earlier and thought about how wonderful it would be to run through those same thick layers of freshly fallen snowflakes. Yes, perhaps that was what she would do first: Play in the snow outside, enjoy something rather new to her. Feel the cold ice sticking to her fur, and watch as her laughter became visible puffs of vapor in the chilly air. There certainly was no harm in such a child-like indulgence. Quickly, she went to leave the room once again with no particular destination in mind other than the nearest snowy clearing outside of the inn.

Honestly, he arrived late. Later than even the last round of busses that trekked through the snowy hills that wound up and around the valley. It wasn’t necessarily his fault—he assures himself as much. He was told the wrong time. Well, rather, he may or may not have been… fully listening when the details were given. But that’s not the point. The point was the last bus was gone when he showed up and the lady at the transportation counter shrugged and motioned to the hours sign hanging haphazardly to the side. Her shift was up and she didn’t have willpower left for this. He understood. Doesn’t mean he was happy, but what he at least got out of her was the fact that he had to physically walk his way through mounds of snow if he wanted to reach his destination.

Which is precisely how he showed up at the inn absolutely, completely, one hundred percent drenched from head to toe as the sticky snow melted off his clothes onto the wood paneled flooring. The sound of the slush falling (drip… drip… drip…) was the only noise left at this time of night when everyone else was probably in bed or by the campfire. The inn was seemingly empty of activity.

Begrudgingly he wheeled his hefty suitcase over to the table labeled guest sign in and, with a tired sigh, wrote down Rameses in the name box with a shaking hand from exhaustion.

He nearly jumped out of his skin though, adrenaline giving a new burst of energy, when a large hand came down to pat him on the back.

It was the inn keep, his mind supplied belatedly, heart racing and head pounding from the moment of panic.

If there was anything he was looking forward to more in this exact moment, it was the promise of sleep in a nice bed. He really, really just wanted to lie down. He wanted to see the snow sheep in his dreams as he counted into oblivion. Talk to him in the morning and he may have a more exciting answer…
