Hello! Snowstar77 here! But if you want, you can call me Snowstar, Snowy, Snow, (or if you really know me, Daff! X3) I am a proud member of the JBD community however I currently own zero beans, but I hope to make Rima my first <3
Rima. Rima was an elusive maiden of the South American rain forest who spoke the language of birds. Rima loves her name, and she wouldn't change it for the world. Her mother gave it to her when she was born. From birth, Rima seemed to show an exquisite interest in birds. She would collect their feathers, draw pictures of them, and she could name most species by sound! That is how she got her name, and that is why she never shortens it, and dislikes nicknames.
Rima is a female, though her choice in accessories says otherwise. She enjoys wearing
a colorful array of bandannas around her neck. You will usually find her wearing a pine green
bandanna, because she thinks it matches best with her fur.
Rima often has dreams about speaking to the birds. In most of them, she can speak to her pet bird, a
little Tufted Titmouse that goes by the name of Tippy. Tippy can usually be found on Rima's
shoulder, and he wears a matching green Bandanna.
Hi, my name is Arthur, but, umm... you already know that because it's kinda printed above. So I'm going to tell you what I know about birds I guess... I like birds, I admire their intricate feathers and wonder at the marvel of being able to fly. I've always dreampt about having wings... Oh gosh I'm babbling aren't I? Ok, so... um... here we go. (That was embarrassing.)[color/]
A Bunch of Useless Bird facts by Arthur the JBD
(They aren't Useless!)
[color=#BF4000]Ok, We'll start with the bird I look like,(a handsome bird at that) One thing that I thought was cool is The Greater Bird of Paradise is actually closely related to bower birds and crows(Not so subtle hint at username.) As well as a few others witch I forgot...
Males of this species usually have decorative plumes and feathers to impress females. They do Intricate courtship dances as well, these dances consist of bobbing, tilting, swaying, and sometimes even hanging upside down. Witch is funny because I on the other hand, dance like a narcoleptic walrus.
I funny and slightly frightening fact about the Greater Bird of Paradise is that famous scientist Carolus Linnaeus gave the species the name Paradisaea apoda meaning "Legless Bird of Paradise" Because when the skins of the bird were traded the feet were cut off. (Poor fellows) The name brought the misconception that the birds actually floated in the air and didn't touch the ground until they died! heh... weird.
Now some short facts about other birds:
-Two thirds of all birds are found in tropical rain forests.
- Some famous birds in mythology include the Egyptian Ba, The Mexican Cu Bird, the Firebird in Native American mythologies, The Greek Harpy, The Egyptian Phoenix, The Aztec Quetzalcoatl, and the Raven is considered mystic in nature in Native American religions.
-The bird with the least feathers is the humming bird because they are so small. The Bird with the most is the whistling swan.
-Starlings and many other birds sing at pitches too high for human ears to hear. I wonder if JBD's can hear them?
-The marsh warbler bird can mimic over eighty unique bird calls, other mimics include lyrebirds and mockingbirds.
-Typically a birds feathers will weigh more than it's skeleton.
-The Bald Eagle earned its name because it is black and white (Thusly "piebald") Not because it has a lack of feathers or because it's plain white head makes it look bald.(This superstition irritates me.)
Well there you have it, I could go on for hours but I don't want to bore you.
