to make a big enough quilt, teddy would need upwards of 100 blocks, but what if instead she just made the blocks larger? after working out the calculations teddy decided on 10' blocks, meaning she would need only around 50 total. to add a few extra inches and neaten it up she would do an entwined border. to help visualize teddy made a quick sketch of what she hoped her project would end up looking like. to keep the quilt from getting overwhelming, she decided to make sure to space out the blazing arrow and crown glory blocks by adding in the random solid block. "hopefully this all works out!"

Surely the quilt was nearing completion. Pumpkin Roll had been hard at work piecing the entire thing together at this point.

She made a decently sized blanket for her. She didn’t was something too big because the quilt wouldn’t be used as something she slept with but rather as something she would cuddle up with on the couch while she read a book. Or something she would take a light nap in if she decided to rest her eyes a bit. That being said, she went for a quilt size that would fit a twin figuring that would work as the intended purpose. Its size came to be 58”x85” by the end.

“I think I did a good job at making the blocks pretty evenly dispersed between the three that I chose… right?” Pumpkin Roll said at the end as she finished sewing it all together. For a beginner like herself, she felt like her quilt came along rather nicely. [160]

After much deliberation, Gardenia decided to go for four rows and four columns for her quilt, making a whopping 840 blocks for a quilt big enough to be used as a bedspread for a king-sized bed (78"x 80")! Each one of her blocks measured to be around 30" x 28", the size of the finished quilt without binding being around 120" x 112"! This was a lofty task for the poor woman, as she had never made a quilt of this size before; but Gardenia figured she would either go big or go home, and she could not wait to show her husband and kiddos the quilt she made for the upcoming chilly months! Iku being the over the top kind of gal she is, decided she was gonna try her hand at about seventy-two blocks. She wasn’t great at math, but she came to the conclusion seventy-two blocks, being twelve square inches each, would fit a queen size bed with a little extra space.
She carefully sewed each block to the next. It isn’t long before her hands start to tire and ache. Boy, at this moment, she was questioning if she should have bought a sewing machine because this job was a tedious one. She wanted that quilt done and to curl up under it and nap. But she trudged on.
She carefully stitched the backing fabric onto the blocks. After several hours of poking her fingers, pouring literal blood and sweat into this quilt, she held it up and smiled. Seventy-two blocks, sore fingers, one tired lady, seven rows and eight columns later, and it was finally done.
Gramma would have been cackling the whole way through, but she would’ve been proud.

    Prompt:

Salem worked for well over an hour to create her own bias binding. Folding a long strip in half, ironing, opening it up, folding the sides to the center and ironing again. It was a tedious affair but well worth it for the outcome. She chose to do a scalloped edge on her nine-patch quilt, which was the only feature that was not included on the original from the photo. It was one of the harder finishes to do because it requires extensive math (which she was not very good at) but she had always wanted to give it a shot.

After what felt like an eternity, it was done. A beautiful, handmade quilt complete with all its imperfections. Salem gazed at it lovingly. "I can't believe I actually made this." She whispered. Barnaby put a hand on her shoulder. "You're an absolute natural!"

Prompt: Prompt: What color or pattern fabric did your Buttermilk choose for the binding? How do they feel about the finished product? Minimum 100 words

The final day was here! Bluebell couldn't be more excited for it. Time to make the quilt binding! She was going to use a wide backing just to be safe, since this was a large project. But what material would go with this lovely, floral quilt? A dark cream? Perhaps white? Instead her eyes caught on a lovely green fabric embossed with delicate gold vines. The perfect compliment to all the other fabrics and colours she had picked thus far.

She got to work putting everything together, wanting it to be absolutely perfect. So she took her time. Hours crawled by but finally, it was done.
Bluebell stepped back, touch grazing the quilt as a small smile slid across her face. "Thank you, Barnaby. I'll never forget this class and I'll treasure this quilt forever!"

The last day was finally here and all Songbirds hard work was about to pay off. From the thread, to picking the pattern everything was coming together for a close. The last thing to do was to pick the border. The quilt was so soft already. Picking the border was about to be a no brainer. Songbird choose a soft cotton finish in a beautiful seafoam color. It would enclose the blue and green hues so perfectly. She marveled at the end result in awe. It was far from perfect, but for her first quilt it wasn’t bad. She thanked Barnaby for teaching her such a beautiful skill. She decided she was going to continue making quilts in her spare time. She has lots of friends and loved ones she wants to share her love of quilting with.

The official final touch. Adding binding to the quilt. For Pumpkin Roll, everything had turned out wonderfully for her first time making a quilt. The floral pattern she chose was breathtakingly gorgeous and gave off the vibes that she wanted to relay by choosing it. Not to mention, she was still obsessed with the three different patterned blocks that she had chosen earlier. But now it was time to wrap everything together and call it done. The floral pattern was brown and so was the underneath of her blanket, so for her finishing touch witrh the binding, Pumpkin Roll went with the same brown that she had chosen for the underneath of the quilt. She figured it fit together nicely with everything which is why she chose it in the first place.

Finally, she was done.

"That was such an experience, thank you for walking me and others through making our first ever quilt, Barnaby!" [155]

For the binding, Pancake decided to go big or go home. She did her research and although it was going to be time consuming, her heart was set on ruffled bindings to finally complete her quilt. This type of binding would give it a unique and more dainty look, which Pancake believed she would take pride in once completed. She had some leftover materials from the main body of her quilt, but wanted the border of binding to pop a bit more. The heifer went back to study the still available materials, and chose some royal purple cotton, which would compliment her lavender solid blocks and her floral blocks perfectly. Pancake had been working so tirelessly on this quilt, and her efforts are about to pay off for her. She cannot wait to finish up this quilt and bring it home to share!
