This is probably a dumb question, but they do count as normal kalons, right? We can't enter non-user only contests anymore?

If you own a kalon, you own a kalon. So yes- a runner up is basically an additional prize, you'll be getting a kalon, so at this point you can't try out for anymore non-owner contest. c:
