relationship with brother;; Anyone will tell you, the moment Yoko's brother walk's in, Yoko becomes very nervous and jumpy. She shrinks to half her size, hiding in the scarf of hers. She will stop talking all together, maybe saying 'yes,' or 'no,' at best. She sits and watches him, like a deer in headlights. She is the poster child for terrified. Her pupils dilate to a point you can barely see the colored part of her eyes. She looks like a completely black stone, shimmering in the light. Her palms begin to sweat as she watches, waiting. She's ready to flee at a moment's notice. Though, she never does. She just sits there, watching him in fear.
Though Yoko has no physical marks, most people assume there's some sort of bullying going on in their household. Yoko herself never speaks on the matter. At most she'll just say he gets loud when he yells, and that's it. Others have been tempted to call, send someone out to their house to learn what's really going on, but no one ever does.
This is why she has her red scarf; her relationship with her brother drove her to get it. It's her only sense of safety, her only hiding place. Maybe, if her covers her face with it, he'll go away.
She's ashamed of the situation, so in public she acts as though nothing's wrong. Her name does mean "Sun Child," and she's determined to live up to it. However, when her brother comes into the same room as her, it's as if there's been an eclipse.
Yoko will tell you it's a respect thing. She deeply respects her brother, to a point of being completely terrified of him. But, remember, she'd never admit that second part. It's suspected that her brother makes sure she respects him, usually in a very cruel manner.
It's a very sad situation, really.
