what are they mad about?: Just take a look at that fur! Keeping it that bright and clean doesn’t come easy, you know. But does anyone in this dumpy old bar appreciate that? No! They just bump into her and push her around and spill drinks and never once apologize for it. It’s the same thing every day, too. She always thinks maybe just once she can come up here for a nice simple drink without any hassle, but somehow she always ends up in a fight. It’s not her fault, though. If people would just have a little respect for how long it takes to look this good, she wouldn’t have to cause so much trouble.

another blow that practically knocked the wind out of jasper. ouch. that had been the wrong question to ask. it only made the man in front of him angrier with him. sure, jasper said a lot of things that he knew he should have just kept to himself, but this guy had it coming, really! jasper wasn't one to back down from a fight, especially when someone told him that he would get knocked over just from a little gust of wind. he knew that he wasn't one of the most healthy people in the world, but nobody could get away with talking about his appearance like that. even if it probably were true. looks can be deceiving, and jasper desperately wanted to prove that to be true. unfortunately, he wasn't the best at fighting.

even if he usually never ended up winning the fights, it didn't mean it was going to stop jasper from giving his full effort. if he started the fight, he was going to try to finish it. if he had been anyone else, he probably would have apologized and left just from looking at the man. but he hadn't been taught to turn around and flee. he always tried to confront whoever had gotten under his skin. so this time wouldn't be any different.

as per usual, jasper's smart remark only got him into more trouble. oh, well. at least he would have a story to tell anyone who wanted to listen. he took a deep breath and looked at the man in front of him with a toothy grin.

See, the thing is, I wasn't mad. I'm not usually a mad person. I've been called a few things before; passionate, fiery, maybe even high spirited. But I didn't anger easily. Not in my own opinion, anyway.

This cruise has been great so far. Sun, sea, and not giving a shingle about anything. It's been great having a little 'me time'. A break from the rat race. A place to kick back and relax, away from anyone who could disturb me.

Or so I thought.

All I'd wanted was a cold drink after a hot day. Did I have a few drinks? Well, I certainly didn't stop at one. Why wouldn't I take advantage of this amazing bar, and the 'tender who looks like a walking fog machine? This cruise is stellar! If it was a fast food place it'd be McDonald's, because I'm lovin' it.

So there I am, in the bar, sipping away at a nice cocktail when this group in the corner start getting a bit rowdy. One of them starts messing with the jukebox, and all of a sudden Aqua's blasting out of the speakers and they're falling off their chairs. I mean, Barbie Girl? Seriously? Obviously they were doing it for a laugh, but it wasn't exactly funny to me.

I did what everyone else seemed reluctant to do, and went over to have a polite word. Well, a few words were exchanged, actually, when they wouldn't let me turn it down. And then - get this - one of them has the audacity to tell me to calm down. For your information buddy, I was perfectly calm before you all started acting up! You don't tell someone to calm down when they're already calm! That's like, the most annoying thing you can tell someone.

We shared a few more choice words - good thing kids aren't allowed in the bar - and it probably would have turned into a choice brawl if ol' Foggy Bar Man there hadn't of stepped in. Eh, probably for the best they threw me out. Wouldn't have been fun, getting hurt on holiday. Then again, it's not like they can kick me off. What are they gonna do, throw me overboard? Ha!

...don't tell them I said that.

what are they mad about?: Yumi has a quick trigger fire temper, so she could be angry about anything. It might be the guy who bumped into her aggressively about half hour ago, or one of the younger patrons not knowing their limits and being a bit too noisy/loud. She probably focused most of her anger from the person sitting beside her who's constantly getting in her space and elbowing her, even though it appears to be an accident from being drunk. Doesn't matter, Yumi's peeved about it, and the only way she knows how to let off steam is by fighting.

Avion grabbed her beer with her left hand. She sighed pushing her hair, that fell in her face, back. She covered her ears and looked at the bartender, “Dude this music is crap. Can you get someone else here to play.”

The bartender rolled there eyes, “Ha! If only. Ma’m that’s just what drunk people sound like when they sing Karaoke. Unfortunately I am unable to do anything to help. Though if you hate the singing so much why don’t you try it yourself?”

Avion scoffed at the bartender, “Your funny- ya know that?” She grabbed her drink and walked up to the karaoke sing who had just got offstage, “Hey! You are real bad at singing you know that, like your actual crap.”

After that it was all blurry. Avion woke up a few hour later aching in pain. She grabbed ahold of a chair and pulled herself up. Everything was dizzy and she was sick to her stomach. She took a deep breath, “Dammit.”

what are they mad about?: "That guy looked at me funny!" Hank screams. At least he thinks he was looked at funny. At this point his vision is so blurry it's hard to tell who's who. He also wonders when he sprouted an extra pair of paws. Weird.
"...I don't think that's what-" You try to explain but he continues his slurred rant.
"He did, I saw him do it! You slime, you want a piece of me??" The orange kalon steps closer to the offending kal, ready to square up at any moment.
"No, I mean it's not-" You try again, clearly having something of importance to say but alas Hank grunts and brushes you off.
"This isn't your fight kid, so back off!" His raised voice causing you to fluff up in defense but you try not to stoop to his level.
"No, listen, that's a mirror!" You finally get out.
"...A mirror?"
"Yes."
"....Ah." Hank backs off and relaxes, finishing his eleventh drink of the night. "I knew that. I was just playin'." He grumbles and slumps against the bar. You sigh. At least that mess is over.

Iska sighed heavily as the ensuing ruckus shook the bar, sending ripples through her Shirley Temple. “Yes, fine, I suppose I could go investigate.” She turned with a dramatic swish of her tail and headed towards the fray. A vibrant orange kalon was staring down the other bar patrons, yelling at any unfortunate kalon who happened to catch their eye. Their flushed face told Iska that they’d probably had too much to drink. She rolled her eyes at the thought. Filthy ruffians don’t know how to drink responsibly. Not surprised there’s one here with how cheap the fare was.

She held her head high as she sauntered over to the kalon and cleared her throat. “Excuse me,” she waited for them to turn around, “but can you please calm yourself? Some of us are trying to relax.”

They turned their fiery glare onto her, baring their teeth aggressively. “Oh, boo hoo! Am I ruining your ‘pwecious widdle cwuise’? Well there are bigger problems out there than spilled drinks!” They crossed their arms and lashed their tail back and forth.

“Oh? Pray tell, what might those be?” Iska didn’t even flinch. She simply raised an eyebrow at the bigger kalon, maintaining her cool demeanor. “What could be so wrong that you feel the need to threaten everyone in the room?”

The orange kalon’s brow furrowed and they narrowed their eyes a bit, seemingly confused that she was calmly engaging with them. “Fine, if you simply must know!” Their lip curled in a snarl. “The staff handling my baggage were completely incompetent! They just threw my stuff all over! Do you know how long it took me to carefully fold everything so it would be able to fit into my bags? And now everything is all rumpled and creased!” They frowned and stared at the ground, their voice lowering a bit. “And the worst part of it all, the special necklace that my partner gave to me is nowhere to be found. I’d been looking forward to wearing it on this trip, but now…” They sighed deeply, looking more sad than angry at this point. “I haven’t said anything yet for fear of upsetting them.”

Iska nodded slowly, her irritation now gone. “Ah, I see now. Still, scaring random kalons isn’t going to get you anywhere.” She twitched her ears and gestured towards the door. “If you’ll let me, I can help you tidy up. I understand the need for a properly-cared-for wardrobe. And perhaps while we look, we’ll find your special necklace.”

The other kalon perked up a little. “Really? You’d help me out after I’ve been so rude?” They smiled a bit at Iska’s nod. “Wow, thank you. I’m Biski by the way. Nice to meet you.”

I walked over to the kalon at the end of the bar. “Hey, would you mind if I sit here?” “You’re prolly doing it anyways”, she hissed. I sat down and introduced myself, thinking that a nice conversation might calm her down, “I’m Josephine, and you are?” “None of your business”, she snarled back at me. I wanted to say something when she said, “Carmen. I’m Carmen.” “Well, nice to meet you Carmen”, I smiled at her, “how do you enjoy this cruise until now? I think it’s great” “it’d be great if...”, Carmen got silent. “If?”, I asked carefully. She looked away. Then turning her steady glaze back to mine she said, “if Marissa was here” I wondered who Marissa was and she answered “Marissa is my girlfriend- ex-girlfriend” Carmen stared into here half full glass tequila. “Ex-girlfriend?”, I asked, my curiosity way too big not to. “Yeah, you know we were now together almost five years so for our anniversary I planned to do this here with her...BUT SHE JUST LEFT ME!” Carmen suddenly began to shout and the other Jakob’s in the bar were already looking towards us. The pain I heard in her voice suddenly turned into wild anger. Then she looked away. I assume she saw the fear in my eyes while she shouted. Then she said with a quiet cracking voice “I told her about this trip a few days ago and yesterday when we were meant to meet at the Harbour to get on the cruise she just sent me a message ‘Sorry but this doesn’t work out for me anymore, have fun on your cruise’.” When she turned around to me again I saw tears in her eyes. “Today would’ve been our fifth year anniversary” I immediately hugged her and said “It’s okay, everything’s going to be okay” “I’m sorry”, she whispered, “for shouting at you you know, I guess I just had too many tequilas which I wanted to just forget all the pain.”
