Chase is incredibly picky when it comes to cake. The taste, size, shape, color, gloss, texture, presentation, consistency - Everything must align perfectly, all woven together to create the best result without a crumb out of place. If the dish proves to be faulty in any aspect, it doesn't deserve to come anywhere near his taste buds. If the cake is just 'yummy,' Chase won't give it a second thought. Good isn't good enough. It needs to be flawless, unblemished, heavenly! Accepting anything less would be an insult to the sacred art of cake baking, a skill his father trained him to excel in since he was a youth.

Though Chase's standards may be high, he makes an exception for one person.
His mother's baking skills...Leave much to be desired. If Chase's cakes are like gifts from the gods, his mother's cakes often...turn out looking and tasting like something that crawled out of a pit from the dark depths of the underworld. Even if it meant sullying his taste buds with bland, dry flavors, if sampling the product of her hard work was enough to bring her a bit of joy, he'd grit his teeth, swallow his pride and do it.

What do they think about cake?: Cake exists to be eaten. A cake that has not been eaten has not fulfilled its life purpose. Aspen thus eats all the cakes he can find, not for himself, but for the cakes (it's mostly for himself though).

What do they think about cake?:
Gerard made this cake for his friend Agrume as an 21st birthday joke. He is very
proud of what he has produced. He is a terrible artist so making something that
looked even remotely like Cinderella was a huge achievement. I thought it was the
greatest cake he had ever made when he had finished with it. Generally his
drawings look a 2 year old has drawn them so he thought it was definitely one of
his better works. Gerard believes that his friend was quite impressed by what he
saw as he just stared at it for a while. He just assumed it Agrume was in awe at
how amazing the cake he had made was!

What do they think about cake?: Lance hates cake. Hates it. He says that cake is just fat bread, so he doesn't eat it. Every year since he was six he's had a birthday pie. Not cupcakes, cupcakes are mini cakes that are also fat muffins. The true reason he doesn't like cakes or cupcakes though? The icing. Lance has a deep seated fear of icing stemming from the time that his mother managed to get icing all over herself, scaring Lance as he walked into the kitchen. He didn't know it was his mother under all of that sugar-paste, and once he did he thought the icing was growing on her like a parasite. Despite the fact that now he logically knows that icing is not a parasite and can't grow on people, it was such a scarring incident for him he can't go anywhere near it.

Duke never had the opportunity to eat cake when he was young because neither parent had a talent for baking and he was too young to be allowed to try his own hand at it. He didn't know better to miss it; rather he filled his stomach with things less prone to burning, sandwiches and microwavable meals and popsicles. The first time he was offered cake, when he was twelve, he found the taste revolting. He'd never been exposed to a taste such as icing, and it was thick and cloying in his mouth. An adult now, Duke still doesn't much care for cake, and will eat it singularly to save face at parties. He often scrapes all the icing off the top if he has no choice but to consume a piece, and eats it rather begrudgingly. His sweet tooth is far more prone to hard candies than baked goods.
