Sabi Byūtī is blind; don't let her full-of-life, sprightly eyes fool you. On the inside she cannot see, not even what is in front of her. Though, when she sleeps, she says she sees things in her dreams, but only in black and white. She usually keeps this to herself, because she doesn't want others getting up in her face asking a multitude of questions. She tends to dislike being around other plumies, making it hard to create strong bonds.

Sabi could never see what her parents looked like, she never was able to see her birthdays, all she was able to see was patterns of colors. In her dreams, she would be able to see what her parents were like, how they looked, and how happy they seem when they see her. Sabi wanted to share this with her heritage, but she couldn't bring herself to.

Byūtī had never seen darkness. Some people say blind people only see darkness, but Sabi can object. All blind people see are colors. Patterns and splashes of color as if her vision were eternally drops of paint within a bowl of milk. Even when she closes her eyes, she still sees the colors. She longs to finally see darkness, to finally meet with the black night sky. She doesn't understand darkness, she doesn't know what darkness is like. She feels like it is her mission to finally see true pitch black. Lightness, brightness, all of it she is sick of, sick of the things others love. She'd give her life for the smallest bit of black color.

Darkness is a fear for some, and a dream for others...
