betsy nodded as multiple buttermilks told her to proceed with the ambush and with a nervous cheer, she sprinted into the sunlit area. “unhand her!” she screamed as she spotted a buttermilk alongside toast. then her jaw dropped open. “oh my god...you did this?” the rest of the buttermilks peered around her to spot the perpetrator and saw...gazania?? toast’s owner???? a chorus of confused questions immediately littered the area, and gazania blushed sheepily. “i’m so sorry…i decided to come on the trip anyway and i saw that betsy had fallen asleep and left toast by herself, so i decided to teach her a lesson. i didn’t think she would get all of you involved.” toast pecked at a bit of corn and clucked happily from her comfy spot between gazania’s shoulder blades. as betsy chewed him out, gazania managed to get a word in to the other buttermilks. “i’m sorry - please accept some sand dollars to spend in the gift shop as my apology for ruining your day. maybe i can scrounge up something special for the most helpful among you.”
