"Tired, Guardian?" Gizamaluke spat the words, the smirk growing wider when Ugin didn't answer his question with the spoken word. She only lowered her head, eyes shutting as if to block out the mangled husk of the viscet she once knew and adored. It was only when her eyes opened again that his smirk screwed into a lopsided frown, disappointed and a bit taken aback that she had the nerve to set her eyes on him for a second time. He was a God now; not just some messenger boy. At least, that's what Kaecilius had fed to him.
She couldn't doubt him, though, as he stood square in front of her. Everything about him was different. His appearance being the most alarming difference, but his aura had been changed as well. He had been reanimated, and it made her sick to her stomach.
Her eyes always gave her away. The despair was clear as day, and he shivered from the pleasure it created behind his ribcage. He could almost swear he felt his dead heart beat for a half a moment.
"I was offered unlimited power and so I took it." Another evil smirk revealed sharp teeth. "Would you like to see?"
As she looked upon the corrupted harbinger in front of her, she felt as though all of her hard work to keep their quiet world balanced was for naught. It was the first time in her ancient life that she realised she just didn't care anymore. "Show me anything you would like, my child."
That wasn't the reaction he was hoping for, but then again... Ugin was a master of deception. She claimed to be a being of peace, but she was a hypocrite. She could pretend all she wanted; he knew better. Besides, he couldn't let his excitement go to waste.
"Kaecilius taught me a thing or two. I've become what you might call... A master of time travel." The sentence was exaggerated with a cheeky wink as he held out his paw for her.
In the past, Ugin might have asked a question or two before taking his paw, but she was tired. She grasped his paw without a second thought and it couldn't have been more than a few seconds before they were thrown into a worm hole of sorts. It was troubling that Kaecilius taught him how to control his own personal portal so soon, but she wasn't going to question any of it any longer.
After so many times traveling through the portals, it was like second nature for her, but Gizamaluke wasn't so lucky. The moment their paws were on solid ground again, he couldn't stop himself from staggering forward, the contents of his stomach hitting the ground before he even knew what was happening.
"Are you alright?" Ugin offered without hesitation, forgetting for a moment that he wasn't the viscet he used to be —
"I'm fine."
— his snarled response was her reminder.
The frown against Gizamaluke's maw wasn't present for very long as he watched Ugin's features contort into a look of pure anguish at the scene that was playing out in front of them.
Kaecilius was there (or at least a past version of Kaecilius) and that alone forced a gasp from her dry throat. If there was one thing Ugin was afraid of, it was him. He wasn't an all powerful undead God or anything of the sort; he wasn't even a viscet.
Kaecilius was a parasite.
He was a parasite that wasn't even from their world. A parasite created and allowed to fester for thousands of years in the prison Ugin was kept in. Kaecilius was the parasite she inadvertently released into their peaceful world when she escaped the void prison. Kaecilius was more powerful than her and the Hell-King Tyramet combined.
She had every reason to fear this monster.
Yet she watched as Gizamaluke grinned happily at the sight of his new master. Kaecilius was nothing to smile about, but she knew he wouldn't understand no matter how hard she tried to convince him.
Gizamaluke pointed in front of them, and it was a melancholy scene indeed. Ugin watched the two viscets — her cherished Gizamaluke and the monster, Kaecilius — grasp one another's paws as if closing a deal, and it wasn't too long after that when Gizamaluke's soul was literally ripped from his body. The Harbinger in front of them crumpled to the ground while the one beside her smiled almost maniacally.
"This is it, Guardian." He whispered harshly, paw continuing to point at the past version of himself. "This is the moment my life began." He seemed to beam with an unfamiliar pride as he spoke.
When the Gizamaluke that was trapped in the time loop stood up again, his eyes no longer held any form of life. He looked up at Kaecilius with dead eyes, but his voice was anything but. "You are the one true Guardian, my Master. I will do your bidding in any way that you seem fit."
The rest of what was said was admittedly lost on Ugin. She didn't feel the need to pay attention any longer. She saw what he wanted her to see.
It wasn't until they were back to the present time that she started to really notice the changes his corruption brought forth. When she first noticed the apparent darkness surrounding them before they left, she chalked it up to bad weather on the horizon, but it was becoming obvious to her that it wasn't bad weather at all; it was the sun itself. The sun was a handful of shades darker than usual, as if some sort of cover had been placed over it.
"Gizamaluke." Ugin's voice shook with fear and anger."What have you done?"
Kaecilius was allowed to roam free, using Gizamaluke as a vessel, and as the sun continued to dim by the minute, it was apparent to all that a Dark Age was upon them and everyone needed to prepare.
