Though Fenris came from the volcanic lavalands, he was probably
the most cool-headed kalon anyone would ever meet. Accidentally
bump into him on the sidewalk? No biggie. Knock one of his
book-laden shelves over? Don't sweat it. Break something
important to him? Eh, he can fix it, no problem. For someone
born in the land of fire and ash, he kept a pretty even head.
He had to, after all.

It had taken years for Fenris to get control of his anger.
One minute, he'd be perfectly happy playing with his little
baubles and such. But it would only take one small mistake
to set him off. If a playmate so much as brushed him the wrong
way, he would snap. He would yell and bite and destroy anything
around him. He could never keep a toy very long while growing
up, and the same could be said of his friends. His temper was
as unpredictable as a volcano and just as violent when he
erupted. The fear of not knowing when Fenris would be set off
caused many kalons to shy away, and it wasn't long before he
began to feel very lonely. Looking around at all the broken bits
and pieces of toys only made him feel worse.

Fenris decided that it was time to change. It wouldn't be
easy, but it would be worth it if he could keep some friends around.
He started by clearing out his room so that he only had the necessities:
a bed, a desk, and a bookshelf. He didn't leave any extra items lying
around that he could break in case of a tantrum. The bookshelf was
soon full of self-improvement books and books on psychology, anything
that would help him understand himself and see the world in a more
enlightened view. He hoped that by changing his mental outlook, he
could get a better control of his emotions. He also took up the hobby
of fixing up anything that was broken. He started with his old toys,
doing his best to repair what he had broken. It didn't start off great;
many specimens ended up even more destroyed than they were to
begin with, but as his patience grew, so did his skill. Fenris poured
himself into honing his skills mentally and physically, turning into a
fine craftsman and a calmer kalon. Like a blacksmith working the
forge, he learned to contain the fire within, to control it and utilize it
to his advantage. He took the boiling rage in his heart and turned it
into a burning passion to create. If he started getting worked up, he
would simply excuse himself if company was around and retreat to
his workshop, where he could vent his anger through his work and
turn it into something beautiful.

Many who know him now understand that he doesn't mean any harm,
and they don't ridicule him whenever he does need some time alone.
After all, it wasn't his fault that he was born with such a temper,
and he was clearly doing what he could to improve himself. Now his
retreats were few and far-between; after years of practice, it would
take a lot to get him truly riled up. It had been a long journey for him,
but now he had a group of supportive friends and a job that he enjoyed.
He couldn't ask for much more than that.

How does this Kalon keep their cool?: As a brass individual, he finds this need quite a lot, and he's got his solution. He thinks about calming images. One is the flickering of a flame on a candle, doing it flighty little dance. Another more ironic image given he comes from a land of heat is the image of a thin, tricking waterful, surrounded by calm plants. It's his secret, but he'd love to see a waterfall like that in person.

how does this kalon keep their cool? || when eithne loses her patience - which isn't really that uncommon, to her therapist's dismay - she takes a few deep breaths, calms herself down, and proceeds to be as annoying as possible. she's perfected the art of innocent stupidity - forcing other kalons to explain simple subjects to her several times over, all the while pretending to be so naïvely adorable that it's impossible to be mad at her.

eithne finds it somewhat therapeutic to take out her frustrations this way (her therapist doesn't quite agree, but he does acknowledge that it's better than punching people).

How does this Kalon keep their cool?: To keep his cool he has to take some deep breaths, or many. Pretty often he has to take many. It also helps him to close his eyes and imagine that he's somewhere else, like skydiving or diving with sharks. That usually helps. He can get rather starstruck at times and sharks  are far less intimidating.

How does this Kalon keep their cool?:
If you asked Holland how he keeps his cool, the Kalon would most likely respond that he's too hot to be cool, and then after a moment add that despite being hot, he is still cool, just in the way that you are so cool that you burn. Like dry ice. With that said, despite Holland thinking he is cool all the time, he does tend to have a bit of a temper, and will go off on others, while yelling that he is super calm. When he gets this way, Holland is able to regain his cool by doing his "cool-down dance" (that's his therapists name for it), which consists of a variety of claps, box steps, spins, and jumps, all to a calming-down lyrical based parody of the hokey-pokey.

How does this Kalon keep their cool?:
Natsu keeps his cool by counting to 5 three times while breathing in, out, in. He then exhales like a sigh and keeps his eyes closed. Though he is from the lava lands he enjoys the sound of rain, 'pitter patter' on the roof and/or on any surface.Natsu loves warmth and loves to be in a bunch of blankets, having very hot, hot cocoa, he listens to the rain sounds on his devices and closes his eyes, doing his three counts of 5. The squishy marshmallows mixed with the whip cream and warmth of the cocoa make him calm down fast along with the blankets, everyone is glad about this because he has a very short fuse and gets angry extremely easy over nothing! What a handful.
