Falconwind did not get to leave the camp often anymore due to him being an elder. Instead, he gets to lounge around in the camp, entertaining the kits. So, whenever fresh kill is brought in, he always rushes to it with a bounce in his step that one would not expect to see in an elder in hopes of finding a finch in the pile.

The finch is his favourite fresh kill because it reminds him of his days as a youthful warrior, leaping into the air and climbing trees to attempt to catch them. Falconwind thinks about how much fun he would have when he would go on the hunt. When Falconwind was feeling particularly sore, he would send out a warrior to catch him a finch specifically because it acts as comfort, reminding him that he was not always incapable of hunting anything anymore.

Shadowoak’s favorite fresh kill would have to be smallmouth bass, a fish found in the lake at the edge of the clan. While the clan isn’t known for catching fish on the regular they have had a few come into the clan with the knowledge to do so and in turn, Shadowoak was able to learn. Getting up just before sunrise to make her way down to the lake when the fish would be close to the surface catching their own food before the surface water got too hot.

It’s much easier to catch the bass now then it had been when her mentor taught her, eyes and claws far more trained then in her younger days. She still remembers falling into the lake many a time trying to pull the fish from the depths. Now she stands firm in the shallow water, eyes trained on the rippling lake for signs of the fish that swam just beneath the surface. Her mentor had taught her well in the craft, something much of the clan can’t say. In turn, Shadowoak will teach her apprentice a new food source will slowly make its way into the clan.

Other cats found Nightbriar very strange. Not because she acted weird, and not because she was particularly mysterious or enigmatic. It was because of her extremely peculiar palate, her favorite food to eat. The others in the clan would mysteriously disappear whenever she was eating, more than a little confused by her choice of meal.

Nightbriar loved to eat bugs, and it wasn't just random ones that happened to cross her path. She would specifically go hunting for them, ignoring the freshly caught prey left by a returning hunting patrol to venture out into the forest or on the outskirts of camp and find any bug she could. Nightbriar would make her own pile of 'fresh-kill,' happily purring once she had enough for a filling meal. She wasn't picky or particular about the types of bug, happily munching on whatever insect she could catch.

Ebony's favorite is, without doubt, deer. The group specialized in group hunting, and since there was plenty of larger prey living in the redwood forest, they had to play to their advantages. Ebony had joined the hunt that day, having never taken down a large animal before. It was exhilarating - especially the part where she dragged down the unsuspecting animal. Something sparked within her as the deer bucked beneath the hunters' paws; this was the hunt, and she loved it.

Such a large creature, and so fresh too - it was the best prey she'd ever had.

Unfortunately, after the revolution, the survivors were a bit of a broken family. They were still trying to rebuild order and stability; there had been no time for large hunts such as this, not when they lacked the energy.

Ebony didn't mind; she had pledged her allegiance to the group, and their well being came first.

Of course, maybe they'd feel better if they had some deer to eat...

Crickets!

Although some of the other cats think it's strange, Bumblepaw looooves eating crickets. He can frequently be found munching on them in the tall grass, or chasing after them! While he does love their crunch and their flavor, Bumblepaw loves more than just that. He loves the satisfaction that he gets from finally catching them - they're fast, afterall, and it takes a lot of work to snag the little bugs - and he loves riding the campsite of the noisy little creatures because they often keep him up all night !

Favorite Fresh Kill: Belladonna's favorite fresh kill is the plants she's hacked down around her camp! She knows that plants are actually living from how her two-legs nurtured them back in her kittypet life, and considers them fresh kill once their roots are torn up from the ground. She will often toss plants into the prey pile after she gets back from a hunting patrol, much to the disappointment of her clan members. She does of course hunt actual prey, but she loves the easy nature of just chomping a plants stem, yanking it from the ground, and being able to have something to settle the stomach for just a little while.
