Due to the complexity of the prompt (seemed more complex in my head at least) I decided to pick and honorable mention for each adopt/pet, explaining what I chose for each and what could be improved on/suggestions I have for the honorable mentions. You 100% don't have to take my advice and I will be completely okay with that! I just thought to help a little bit by giving some advice as a judge. I appreciate the work you all put into your forms, but some just might need a little extra push in my opinion. <3
#732WileyfangsYou know i love your writing my dude, and your form is no exception. You used the word limit excellently and created a reasonably expandable story for future character development without making it too vague! The fact that SCS was ,in the end, mentioned, (to me) showing how her character still hast room to grow really pulled everything together when reading it. I love Yvette and can't wait to see your future endeavors with her as a character. <3
#732 Honorable MentionKittyandCatWhile I enjoyed the idea your form put out, it left a lot to be desired in further explaining the history of the character for the competition, rather than just kinda teasing me with the idea of it. The beginning explanation from the character's beliefs were solid, though I suggest expanding upon mentioned topics, of character history or otherwise, in future forms. I give you luck with your next competition. <3
#733jurassic,I honestly didn't expect to enjoy a classic short form like this as much as I did, though honestly the idea of a dog who basically could/would "volunteer" to give to those less fortunate or in needing of assistance as their whole character is rather sweet to me. This is especially true with the context of Christmas being the theme of the competition for her. I would love to see what she does with that in her life through stories and love the idea of the big fluffy Luna trying to force positive into other dogs life, though in a rather positive and helpful manner. I love the ideas Luna brings to the table and can't wait to see your future endeavors with her as a character. <3
#733 Honorable MentionWolfiedog3While your form was slightly longer and more complicated than the form I ended up choosing, the second paragraphs failed to keep the strength that the first one brought to the table. When in the Discord chat I saw you mention you were rushing to finish your form today, and with that I kind of see where the problem lies. This has a tendency to bring down forms as if they are more rushed, they are less likely to get the message across thoroughly or a way that interests the reader. While the idea kept well overall and stuck to the prompt, I highly suggest planning a form out early on and maybe writing it outside the form (on a document or otherwise) to keep things more consistent. That aside the writing for the character was very solid and while I couldn't connect with her as well as I would've liked, her story in the form seemed like it would've flourished had it been not rushed in the latter part. I give you luck with your next competition. <3
#734w0ahAlthough being the only other valid form to choose from for the last adopt, I was honestly surprised and intrigued at the fact you gave such a straightforward approach in such detailed analysis based on the art itself and melding it into the character prompt. Under normal circumstances I don't see these forms very often and honestly the fact that you did this approach stuck with me. It honestly makes me curious what you will do with Nedezda and her character, which makes me excited to see your future endeavors with her as a character. <3
#734 Honorable MentionSpiritstar3To be honest, while the mention of his history was interesting and the answer gave the required minimum of the prompt, but the way it was put together made the answer a lot to be desired. I unfortunately tend to see this a lot with your more recent forms (I mostly mean in adopts rather than time itself). While it focused on Christmas and the Ghost of Christmas Present, it didn't really say anything about the character itself outside of normal dog things like loving/getting toys. You offhandedly mentioned parts of the history which I would've loved to see more in depth with and combined into the overall prompt of the form rather than a mention and then moving to the next topic. The point of the prompt, aside from a writing exercise, is to expand on the character using a specific topic and sticking to it to create an interesting point of view or world around them, and I would've loved to see this more explored. I hope to see improvement in your forms and I give you luck with your next competition. <3
I thank you all for participating in this competition as we try to slowly creep back into existence as an adopt community after being gone due to life. I hope you all are having fun with the adopts we've been putting out, and that any sort of criticism I give on forms doesn't hurt your feelings. I love seeing others improve with anything and love giving tips and criticisms to help with that, just as long as I'm proficient with the topic of course. If you have any questions about forms or want me to give suggestions/criticism on how to improve after a competition of mine has ended, I'm completely open and willing to try and help from my point of view through private messages on CS or on Discord! I wish you all luck with future endeavors, and remember to keep your hopes and look positively into the future, even if you lose in a competition for a character or multiple characters.
There's always ways to improve and make your work better, regardless of how long or little you've been doing a certain skill. <3
-As a side note, I'm much easier to talk to and get a hold of on Discord, and most of the socializing of the SCS community (as small as it is) is on the SCS Discord server! I highly suggest checking Discord out if you can and joining the server, which is linked on the SCS Main Page! <3
