Name: Sylven (meaning 'of the woods', and a very dear name to me, of my late dog, who recently passed.)
Gender: She doesn't think about it too much, but if she had to describe it to others, she'd say she was a demigirl.
Song: Eyes Wide Open by Gotye
"So this is the end of the story,
Everything we had, everything we did,
Is buried in dust,
And this dust is all that's left of us.
But only a few ever worried.
Well the signs were clear, they had no idea.
You just get used to living in fear,
Or give up when you can't even picture your future.
We walk the plank with our eyes wide open.
Some people offered up answers.
We made out like we heard, they were only words.
They didn't add up to a change in the way we were living,
And the saddest thing is all of it could have been avoided.
But it was like to stop consuming's to stop being human,
And why would I make a change if you won't?
We're all in the same boat, staying afloat for the moment.
We walk the plank with our eyes wide open
That was the end of the story."
Though Plumerian's are coming back, Sylven lives on the outskirts of the population, in an area where their return is just now beginning to be seen again, after long centuries of myths about the species. Sylvan has taken the identity other's cast upon her, that of a returning spirit, and has embraced it, living her life as if she were spirit-like. However, Sylvan is not all she wants to be, far from it rather, and this is what brought her to these distant woods. As industrialization slowly began to take rain over the world, Sylven has taken to fleeing, unable to face her task to the world and to society to help create a change. This tears at her heart each day, while as she protects the forest she lives in, inspiring curiosity and wonder of other species that live near by, she feels it will never be enough, and curses herself for living in hiding the entirety of her life, away from vast, unconquerable responsibility. One day it will catch up with her and the world, and she knows she doesn't really have to be a spirit to live long enough to see it- the change is coming soon.
