Name: Vatni (Vah-tni) originated from Icelandic, simply means water
Gender: Female
Age (at most 30): 15 years of age
Personality:Vatni grew up as an innocent fea, living her days watching the clouds and watching her reflection in the water, she loved life to the fullest. Reality was her enemy, she despised it. She'd daydream for hours and procrastinate from her training, the lack of her training was a mistake she made. Her downfall came. It hurt. Vatni soon found out that ignoring reality was not something worth doing for the cost of others, even if it could be their lives. She is slightly paranoid all the time, she feels she needs to help and fix, be the problem solver, make anything bad go away. She still doesn't love reality, but she knows that it's a scary place even if she's living in it and not loving it. When she's not paranoid or trying to fix someone's problems, she's usually coming off as slightly cold and aloof, which is usually her just being silent and trying to think to herself how to fix things.
Attacks: Niagara's Downfall: You'd think that this attack would have something to do with waterfalls, well, you'd be pretty correct to think that, only the opposite of a waterfall. Vatni can use the condensation in the air around her attacker to create a waterfall, only it goes up, the current from the water carries the opponent up and when she makes the water evaporate, the attacker drops to the ground. Usually used as a defensive move, can be used on offense.
Mirage:Vatni uses what condensation she can to create a mirage around the attacker, it can be very clear and life-like, or it can waver to confuse the attacker. Usually used if she sees an opponent ahead of time as to initiate a fight, it can be used as a defensive move as well.
Aqua Tendrils:Using any water sources, whether it be the condensation or a near by pond or lake, Vatni can use the water to create tentacle like appendages that can hold the attacker down, sometimes beginning to suffocate them. It basically holds them down so Vatni can either attack them or recover herself.
Special Ability:Cloudy Days:Kind of as the name implies, Vatni uses the condensation around her to create large, heavy, thick clouds and envelopes the attacker with the clouds, making their sight clouded for a short time and making it hard to move, slowing them down immensely. It can also make it hard to breathe for them, because of the heaviness of the clouds. Usually used to make the attacker slower so she can attack them easier.
Short story: Cages by Deas VailBirds by Deas VailVatni gazed into the calm water in front of her clawed feet, her blue eyes watching the reflection of herself in the water where no ripples formed unless disturbed by a light touch, or breeze. She closed her eyes and listened to her surroundings, hearing nothing but her soft breathing and the light chatter of birds around in the scarce trees in this area, her ears perked forward when she heard something in front of her, she opened her eyes quickly and placed a clawed foot on the water. A young Gryphon emerged from one of the bushes, "Vatni, your father wants to speak with you, " The small female Gryphon said quietly.
Vatni nodded curtly and stood up from her sitting position, stretching a little and shaking her pelt out, she turned and began walking towards where she knew her father was, once she knew the Gryphon that had come to get her was out of her sigh she took off into a sprint. Her claws digging into the soft earth of the place and soon she slowed up her pace and saw her father, "Dad, " She panted, "You wanted me?" She inquired, padding closer to him, looking up at him and sitting down onto her haunches.
"You neglected your training Vatni," He huffed, turning his back on you, "When will you learn that you cannot be in a world of dreams all the time, reality is the world we live in, " He muttered, his tail swishing a little and he looked over his shoulder at his daughter, he felt almost sorry for his daughter. She neglected training and was always off daydreaming or watching the clouds, she needed to learn that reality was where she should be.
Vatni lowered her head, "But I don't want to train Dad, the others think i'm weird, " She whined, standing up and raising her head in protest. She thought her world was better than dumb reality where everything was always train and train and train, then practice and spar. She hated it. She despised reality.
Her father sighed, "I know you don't like it, but you need training, you'll regret if you don't, now go practice, " He said curtly and started walking away from his daughter.
Vatni let out a soft growl, she hated having to go practice, she wanted to go up to her hill and watch the clouds for a while. Reminisce on what she could do tomorrow or what was coming in the future, she turned and began walking to the hill she always went to when she wanted to clear her head. Once she got there, the breeze had gotten stronger and the sky had darkened a little, she shrugged it off nonchalantly and laid down on her back, gazing up at the now dark gray clouds, she hadn't really been paying attention to the sky as she had walked, mostly muttering to herself about how her Dad was pushing training and always on her back about it.
Listen if the other songs are finished:Beautiful Ending by BarlowGirlShe yelped at the sound of thunder as its seen counterpart struck a nearby tree, she scrambled to her feet and looked up, the sky now a dark, ominous shade over her head with rain falling in heavy drops now and the sound of thunder ringing in her ears, the tree near her now was beginning to blaze with the fire from the lightening that had struck it. She bent her ears back and gripped the ground hard with her claws, as if bracing herself for something, anything.
Her head was raised up, letting the heavy drops rain down on her body, she closed her eyes, not minding the thunder now, she then lowered her head so her beak almost touched the ground, then she heard a loud yell, the sound of an agonized Gryphon, but the sound was immediately recognized as her close friend, Grace, another water Gryphon who had been her motivation for a long time, keeping her fit and making her practice every-so-often. She was on her toes now, running to the sound of Grace, she closed her eyes and prayed she wasn't hurt and was just playing around. She hoped. Once she started nearing her, she smelled blood, heavy in the air that was humid with the rain, she stopped dead in her tracks, dreading what she saw.
Vatni's eyes landed on the broken body of her best friend, her eyes shut and her body looking peaceful actually, whoever had done this, did it quick, she didn't look like she had struggled against the attacker. Vatni neared her body, "Grace?" She called, her voice cracking with the tears welling up in her eyes, making it hard to speak, "Grace?" She called again, now standing over her friend's body, she lowered her head and pressed it to her neck, her scent still wafting from her even with the rain. She smelled of water lilies and cherries, two of her favorite things, the scent was dulling now with the rain, but it only made Vatni try to convince herself that this wasn't happening.
"Grace!" She yelped, pressing a clawed foot onto her rib cage lightly, no sign of life was left in the water Gryphon's body." No, you're still here, you're not gone, You're not, " She told herself, the tears now coming from her eyes, she shut them quickly, trying to stop them, "No, " She said weakly and laid down next to her friend, her head nudging next to her friend's still slightly warm one.
She sniffled lightly, her head still buried under her deceased friend's, Vatni slowly feel into a fitful slumber, awaking at a light push on her side, she opened her eyes slowly, to see the blurry image of her father, "What happened?" He asked her quietly, Vatni stared at her father for a moment, trying to gather what happened the night before.
"Grace is gone dad, I didn't even get to say goodbye, " Vatni whimpered, her father gazing down at her sympathetically, he really felt bad for his daughter loosing her best friend, but he was also slightly angered with her for being careless and running off alone, she usually went to Grace to speak her mind and get stuff off her chest, she usually didn't run off alone. Hardly ever.
"I understand, come, let's go back to everyone else, " Her father suggested, a small smile on his face, his eyes still soft towards his daughter. Vatni looked to the lifeless body of her friend, she pressed her head to her friend's neck, "I'm so sorry Gracie, I shouldn't have gone off without you," She sniffled lightly, "Where would I be today without you, probably exactly where you are right now, " Vatni whispered brokenly, her head pressing harder to Grace's body, "I will miss you so much, and I promise, no more daydreaming, no more reveries, " She choked out, tears coming freely now, she slowly lifted her head, looking up at her father a little.
She slowly followed after her father, passing by all her other acquaintances, her head hanging low, her eyes slowly trying to shut themselves from the mocking looks and words of her peers as she treaded silently with her father. She sniffled and looked up, stopping in her tracks when she saw a Gryphon about a year older than herself," So finally decided to get some common sense dreamer?" He sneered, a cocky smirk on his face.
Vatni looked up at him, her eyes still filled with tears, she growled a little, "You know better than to call me that Kaleb, " She hissed, "You're the one who needs some common sense, " She started advancing closer to Kaleb, "And at least I have feelings, unlike you, you jerk, " She snapped, her beak just missing his eye, "So fly off, " She snarled and turned, beginning a fast pace in the opposite direction.
Her pursuit ended her at a grove of trees, the roots all mangled and clawed, a small freshwater stream flowed between the trees, she growled and slashed at one of the trees, making a large scratch in the bark where her foot had ripped through it, she huffed and then went over to the stream, still not feeling any better about the situation. She gazed dumbfounded at her own reflection in the clear water, she slowly reached a clawed foot forward and placed it in the water, letting the cool liquid flow over her skin, she willed all the condensation in the air to slowly create a mirage, she looked up at saw Grace. Vatni knew she wasn't real, more just a memory she wanted to reminisce in, she slowly removed her foot from the water and sighed, "Oh Grace, what should I do now?"
