About Them: dennis is quite the two faced kalon.
one day, he'll be the cool dude that everyone wants to talk to but is too scared to, and the next, he'll be a loveable, kindhearted kalon who just wants someone to care about.
here are dennis's two sides.
aggressive and overprotective
dennis can have a very... rough exterior, to say the least. he can be extremely overprotective of things and other kalons he loves, and will sometimes snap at things if something bad happens. he tries to look tough to everyone else, not letting his true self show, as he worries that they will take advantage of him like so many others before him. he worries that, if he opens up to you, you'll stab him in the back, or think he's a total idiot. he tries to act cool and aggressive and hopes others will stay away from him so that they won't hurt him. dennis will never, ever, under any circumstances let you see him cry, when he does. he hopes to keep his reputation as the tough guy who doesn't let anyone know anything about him.
kindhearted and caring
when.. well, if, dennis lets you get to know him atleast a little bit better, he may show you his softer side- who he really is. at heart, this kalon is actually very sweet... and secretly a huge romantic. he's been on the search for a potential mate for quite a while. that's part of the reason he tries to keep up his "cool aggressive guy" shtick, he thinks others might think he's interesting. unfortunately, that hasn't worked out too well. he still has high hopes, though, that, maybe one day, he'll find a kalon to love, and who loves him just as much. while it may not seem like it, dennis really does care about a lot of things. he just doesn't show it. so, if you ever get close to him, expect lots of love and hugs and attention.

A yellow glow drifted from the opening of the enclave, casting a soft warmth across the face of a small,
tan, kalon. It was quiet here, the silence muffling the lightest of sounds. Only the slightest rising and
falling of breath was noticeable to the ear on occasion.

"Momma, tell me my story" the tan kalon mewed, abruptly breaking the silence.
"Okay, but after this it’s time for sleep. It's still very early in the morning" came the loving reply.

The tan kalon nodded meekly in agreement before scurrying forward to curl up next to their mother,
as if to hide from the chill of the morning breeze that had drifted inside the den.

"A long time ago I was traveling through desert and forest, when I happened upon an enormous cliff.
The minute I saw it, I wanted to climb it. I needed to climb it. So I began the trek upward. The
wind grew brisker with every step I took, but I kept going, digging my claws into the rocky surface to lessen
the chance of falling. I paused when I reached a point mid-way up, at an almost flat ledge that jutted out
into the sky. It was so bright… A bright blue, shockingly blue, shade coating my sight. I could see the tops
of the trees, tangled and twisting among themselves.

And by now I was tired – rasping for breath. My fur was dusty and windswept enough that it practically
blended in with the sandy stone behind me. My claws were chipped. But all of that didn’t feel like it
mattered as I gazed at the sky. I felt free. It was then that I noticed something scratched into the
ledge, close to the edge. I leaned forward to take a look. And you know what it said?”

“Babylon” the tan kalon whispered, their face lighting up with anticipation.
“Yes”

“And that was when you fell?”
“Yes. That’s when I fell”

“Momma I’m scared”
“Don’t be scared, Babylon. All turns out okay, remember? You’ve heard the story before”

“I know, but still... I’m nervous”

About Them:
It is Charlie's first day as a volunteer at his local pet shelter, Helping Paws. Now, Charlie had applied last month, deeply wishing he would get the job. He loved animals! Especially dogs, which was what the pet shelter offered. Charlie had made sure the shelter was a no-kill shelter- all his sources told him it was not. Anyway, let's get back to Charlie- he's entering the building now. "First impressions are.. good," he breathed, seeing all the other kalons inside. He held his breath and padded towards the counter. "Oh, hello! You must be Charlie," the female kalon behind the counter said cheerily. Charlie blinked, surprised at her bubbly attitude. That.. was good, right? She was friendly. Hopefully the others would be nice, too."Um, yeah.. I am," Charlie replied, nodding slowly. "Well, the doctor could really use some help with a situation we have back there," the female kalon said. "O-oh! Yeah, I'll be right on it!" Charlie said before scurrying off to find the doctor. A new job- it'd go great, Charlie knew it. [I think this is under 350 words ;w;]

About Them: When Kira was a young Kalon, she always wanted to be an author. She would practice writing and typing every day, even if it was just a couple sentences. Her parents were always proud of her writing, they knew she would go far. Moving on to a little more recent, she had tried out to make her writing into a story. They accepted it and made it into a book. She was thrilled. Turns out more people then Kira though bought the book, so she ended up making a lot of money. She continued her passion for writing. Write write write, thats all Kira would do. She was very happy when she wrote stories and things, because they inspired her. Moving on even more further into her life, she went into illustrating her art. Everyone loved it, and she ended up joining a book club. She got to read everyone's books that they had come up with. She loved reading each and everyone of them. Now to this day, Kira is still writing and inspiring young children, and adults. She wishes to share her writing with everyone in the world one day. about them: tony is a very shy kalon who doesn't like to socialize much unless he is asked to. he hates like expanding his small social circle of friends and tends to stick to talking with family and friends, rather than talking to others. he is very cautious and doesn't approve of extremely stupid (as he believes) things such as daredevils and the sort. if you're about to do something really stupid, he will go out of his way to make sure that you know it's very stupid and that he told you not to do it, but you did it anyway.

About Them: Jack acts very prideful and loud, but that's just to cover up his insecurities. If you bother to get to know him you'll find that he has a completely different side than the boisterous prideful Jack you thought you knew. In reality he is a kind quiet kalon who is glad to help whenever you need it. He doesn't like how he built himself in the public eye, and much prefers the version his true friends know. He believes that society however doesn't like kalons like he truly is so he continues to masquerade as loud and proud.

Jack is also colorblind, not being able to tell the difference between blues and purples. This hasn't effected him much, Other than making learning the colors blue and purple incredibly difficult. He can guess, and sometimes gets it right, but it's about a 50/50 chance.

He loves camping, though he would never admit it to anyone unless they truly knew him. His favorite part about camping is roasting hotdogs, and more importantly, marshmallows over the fire. He's got the art of a s'more down to a science, having learned how to brown the outsides into a skin while melting the insides all the way through. If he was given the chance, he could eat an entire bag of marshmallows, roasted of course. [221/350]

Dipper is a playful kid. He loves to play pranks on other animals, even if they aren't Kalons. His worst prank was one when he was very small. He had recently learned how to climb trees and had been lying in one lazily one day when he saw his friend walking beneath him. He held his breath and dropped a pinecone on him. The kalon looked up, but kept walking. Dipper moved from tree to tree dropping pinecones on his friend until the kalon beneath him started throwing them back! Dipper was so surprised that he fell out of the tree! Dipper has stuck to less harmful pranks since them.

He looks to the ground sheepishly. "I live alone. Well, I guess that's not entirely true; I have a cat. His name is Tux, 'cause he's black and white and kinda looks like he's wearing a suit. At this point, he's... sort of the only friend I've got." Marcus' gaze drops to the floor again as his voice trails off. "I'm not exactly the most sociable kalon out there. I'm about as nice to others as you can get, but I hardly approach other kalons with the express intent of socializing with them. In fact, I... hardly ever approach other kalons at all."
