Vittra pounced over the roots of a large tree, and then scampered under a bush, springing out the other side she ran head first into the side of a large hairy cat. “Well hello there little one, where are you going in such a hurry?” the large cat said.

“Sorry, I was just playing.” Vittra meowed softly, how could she not have noticed such a large cat?

“Haha that's ok, no harm done! What's your name, little lady?” The strange cat purred.

“My name is Vittra,” She replied shyly, “what's yours?”

“It's nice to meet you Vittra, most people call me BigFoot.” He said.

“Is it because you have big feet?” Vittra immediately felt embarrassment wash over her, she really needed to learn how to keep her mouth shut. Thankfully BigFoot didn't seem offended, and replied, “Haha yeah I guess so! You take care young one, you might not meet someone as nice as me next time.” And with that he padded silently into the woods.

fawnleap padded softly through the dense underbrush, their light brown fur blending seamlessly with the forest floor, the sunlight filtering through the canopy above created dappled patterns on their pelt as they followed a narrow, winding path. they enjoyed these solitary explorations, appreciating the quiet of the woods that surrounded mireclan’s territory. today, however, there was something different in the air, a strange energy that made the fur on the back of their neck stand on end. a rustling sound came from the bushes to their left, and fawnleap's ears pricked forward as they peered into the shadows, eyes narrowing as they tried to discern the source of the noise. suddenly, they saw a flicker of movement - something that seemed to shimmer and shift just out of view. fawnleap's heart raced, they had heard stories of strange occurrences in the woods, whispers of a cat who lurked in the shadows, yet never thought they'd encounter them. they had just been tales to scare them as a kid, right?

determined to uncover the truth, fawnleap pressed on, their steps cautious but purposeful, yet the undergrowth seemed to thicken around them, vines and tendrils curling and weaving in ways that made the path almost impassable. they hesitated, the sense of unease growing stronger, but their curiosity pushed them forward. as they stepped into a small clearing, fawnleap froze. there, standing in the centre, was a calico cat, her fur a vibrant mosaic of orange, black, and white - but it wasn’t her striking coat that held fawnleap's attention, it was the plants that seemed to grow directly from her pelt; ferns, flowers, and vines intertwined with her fur, and the air around her seemed to hum with a strange, unfamiliar energy.

“who’s there?” fawnleap called, their voice trembling slightly despite their efforts to sound brave. upon hearing the sound of their voice, the she-cat turned slowly, her eyes gleaming in the dim light, revealing herself to be anything but a threat. she didn't appear startled by her sudden company, instead seeming welcoming of it..

“i am butterflyculture,” she said, her voice soft but resonant. “do not be afraid, fawnleap. i mean you no harm.”

fawnleap blinked in surprise. “how do you know my name?”
butterflyculture smiled, a gentle and reassuring expression.
“i know all the cats of mireclan,” she replied. “i watch over the forest and its inhabitants, ensuring that life thrives here.” as she spoke, fawnleap noticed the plants around them responding to her presence, flowers bloomed and leaves unfurled, creating a lush, vibrant tapestry of green. they took a hesitant step forward, their initial fear giving way to awe, and yet, still, a part of them remained wary. mireclan had always been cautious of outsiders, and fawnleap had grown up hearing tales of how dangerous they could be. what was to say that this 'butterflyculture' wasn't any different? how could they trust a cat like this, especially one they had grown up with stories of, only furthering their hesitancy.
“you… you have powers,” fawnleap said, their eyes wide. “you can make plants grow?”
butterflyculture nodded, her expression warm. “yes, i have been blessed with this gift to help the forest and those who live within it. it is my duty to nurture and protect.”

fawnleap’s apprehension melted away slightly, replaced by a sense of wonder, they were a young cat, and their curiosity often got the better of them - for the better, or worse.
“that’s amazing!” they exclaimed, their voice filled with genuine admiration. “i’ve never seen anything like it. you’re like a guardian of the forest!”
butterflyculture chuckled softly, the sound like the gentle rustle of leaves. “thank you, fawnleap. i am glad you think so. it is a responsibility i cherish deeply.”

“can you show me more? how do you do it? what other things can you make grow?”

butterflyculture’s eyes sparkled with amusement and kindness. “i would be happy to show you,” she said. “come, let us walk together, and i will teach you about the magic that flows through the forest.” as they walked side by side, fawnleap marveled at the wonders butterflyculture revealed, with a gentle touch, she coaxed flowers to bloom and vines to twist into intricate patterns, explaining the delicate balance of nature, how each plant and creature played a vital role in the ecosystem. by the time they returned to the heart of mireclan’s territory, fawnleap felt a newfound appreciation for the forest and a deep respect for butterflyculture’s powers. they had always loved the woods, but now they saw it through new eyes, understanding the magic and life that thrived within it.
“thank you, butterflyculture,” fawnleap said, their voice filled with gratitude. “what you showed me was.. amazing! i didn't think any of that was possible.” they purred with delight.

butterflyculture smiled, her eyes shining with warmth. “you are welcome, fawnleap. remember, the magic of the forest is always with you, even if you cannot see it. cherish and protect it, as i do.”
with a final nod, butterflyculture slipped back into the shadows, leaving fawnleap standing in the clearing, their heart full of wonder and inspiration, vowing to appreciate the woods, and outsiders, more than they initially had. maybe mireclan's tales of outsiders weren't as accurate as they had been made out to be.
