Prompt: an albino hummingbird!originally a pet, honeylight was dumped at the edge of cedarclan's territory as a kitten. though she was taken in by the clan nearly immediately, she'd been quite a skittish and nervous cat since.
on one mild greenleaf day, the molly was pacing through the verdant understory of the forest surrounding her clan's camp. her job as a lookout was fairly uneventful as far as warriors' posts went. despite this, she couldn't shake that everpresent feeling; someone or something was watching her. her eyes darted through the canopies of leaves, scanned the creek bed she was patrolling, but it was no use. nothing appeared out of place.
and then she saw it; a flash of ivory through the leaves of a flowered bush she'd must have glanced at dozens of times already was it an ermine? honeylight shifted anxiously on her paws, attempting to get a better look at what was now rustling the leaves. seconds later, she saw it; ...a bird? but it was much too small to be any white bird she'd ever seen in the area. honeylight was not good with unknowns.
before she had a chance to bound back to the camp and report her discovery, the tiny avian darted towards her. her heart skipped a beat, and honeylight fell backwards in a feeble attempt to pull away. landing on her back in the soil, she prepared herself for the worst. not that such a small animal could be particularly harmful, but that was not a conclusion she was thinking rationally enough to arrive at.
as she waited with her eyes squeezed firmly shut, no harsh pecks or sharp claws came. instead, as she slowly opened her eyes, honeylight realized she was nose-to-beak with what appeared to be a bright white hummingbird. the gentle flutter of the small creature's wings caught her attention, and she realized the sound was almost... calming? as she shakily stumbled her feet, the hummingbird came to rest on honeylight's shoulder.
despite her initial jolt as the bird perched on her side, the molly felt strangely comfortable with the friend she had seemingly made. honeylight and her new companion, who she affectionately referred to as chirp, were essentially inseparable from that moment on.
