Mocking'Whisper is a bit indifferent when it comes to Halloween. Her and her clan do not live too far from a two-leg camp, one that puts up all sorts of weird creatures and things in their yards, the ones that make noise irritate her to no end. But it is the pumpkins that she likes the best about the season. It's a sweet treat, to find one and to drag back to camp, a rare treat for the kits and apprentices, and the medicine cat can use the seeds for medicine practices.
The one thing that Mocking'Whisper really hates about Halloween, however, is the two-leg kits that come romping into her home. Only ever around Halloween, as is typical for most abandoned graveyards that are known for being haunted. It is safe to say she does a wonderful job of protecting her clanmates due to her unique looks, chasing the rowdy two-leg kits back to their own nests. The peaceful nature that happens after Halloween, that is what Mocking'Whisper enjoys most.

Why does Clatter like Halloween? Well, she practically invented it! Perhaps that sounds like an exaggeration, but it’s true, at least in her own group. Before her, not a single cat had a heard of anything like Halloween. Now, while it’s not actually the same as the Halloween us humans enjoy, Hissing Orchids enjoy a similar holiday.

Seeing as Clatter was such an off-putting, serious cat at first, nobody expected it when this tough molly stopped brushing the autumn leaves from her unbalanced falls out of her fur, nor did anyone have an explanation when her neat and tidy nest began being filled with the glowing corpses of summer fireflies and various Sweet berries found their way into the food in the prey stump. Orange and purple painted leaves with faces drawn on them, twisted in either snarls like badgers or wolves or screaming cat faces, could be found strung up around base; coincidentally, purple and orange stained the grass trailing Clatter’s pawsteps.

When she stopped waking with the sunlight and the moonlight illuminated her empty nest, cats finally had the bravery to ask the intimidating molly what it was all about.

“You’ve never heard of the Autumn festival?” She finally answered, eyes wide and seeming aghast. It was the first time any cat in Hissing Orchids saw her brighten as much as she did that day, and since then she’s only ever gotten so peppy right around the same time of the festival each year. The Autumn festival was, as she explained, a week to celebrate the changing of seasons, as well as give sacrifices to the stars in exchange for an easier time during Winter.

“Back in the days before the moon,” Clatter now loves to tell the kits during the month of the Autumn festival, “those sacrifices were cats… usually kittens who misbehaved!” Nobody knows if that’s really part of the folklore or if that’s just her own addition to keep kits in line. Regardless, the version of the Autumn festival she introduced to Hissing Orchids prefers to sacrifice sweet berries, prey, and some creations by the artisans.

The Autumn festival is a widely adored holiday within the group now, but it will always be most highly favored by Clatter, who almost everyone in Hissing Orchids can agree will always be remembered for her addition to the group. She’s always found around Autumn lightening up her harsh standards for the younglings, skipping out some of her own duties to decorate around camp, and meticulously picking out sweet berries that are good enough for both the stars and group to enjoy.

Clatter’s a hunter, not an artisan, at heart, but by her sheer passion for the Autumn festival she’s made leaps and bounds in her art skills, becoming one of the best non-artisans out there when it comes to creating. She’s also the best storyteller for when the cats have all gorged themselves by the end of the festival and are all lazing about. Her habit of becoming nocturnal during this time has rubbed off, too.

Once the season’s over, Clatter returns to her stern, disciplined self. But for just a month in the Autumn, she lets herself go and enjoys life just as freely as her groupmates allow themselves to! Just perhaps spare some caution when the storytelling begins... Clatter can paint very vivid scenes with her tongue, and not all her stories are those of heroes’ victories.
