despite many of the compliments that nova gets on her upstanding nature to take hold of a situation and make the most of it, she sees herself as lesser -- she could be told 500 times a day that she needed to pick her head up and still she would look at the ground in dismay. no matter what she did to make herself the best of the best -- hundreds of agility classes. herding the cows. protecting the hens at night.. she was a hero in her own right.. but still she felt like something was missing.

it wasn't until a few years went by during her stay on the CoR farm that she finally felt like she earned her show name, realm of a queen. it had been a long and tiring day of herding, as winter was starting soon and the farm hands were chopping down firewood to keep them warm and cozy throughout the chilly season. it was her job to keep an eye on the farm animals in the field and make sure none of them tried charging. they were good for the most part, but sometimes there would be one or two that liked to act up, and she would have to put them in their places.

finally, after being up from sunrise till sun down, she was resting beside the toasty fire on her plush dog bed, dozing off, when she heard a sound that immediately had her eyes darting around the room. she couldn't see anything, and yet, she felt eyes on her.

maybe she was being crazy? letting out a loud huff, she laid her head down to rest once more, only to hear a thump upstairs. whatever it was had managed to evade her and get up to where her owners were!

immediately, nova was up on her four paws and taking the stairs two at a time to get up to the loft. her hackles rose and she let out a low growl when she saw the intruder, creeping along the wall and on a projection to reach the bed.. instantly the thief turned and regarded her with fear, their muscles tensing.

her growl continued as she prowled closer, her eyes catching on the glint of silver as the intruder held up a knife. she charged at him, narrowly dodging a swipe at her flank, and biting onto his arm that held the knife, causing him to let go. letting go of him, she inserted herself between the knife and him, letting out another low growl.

now without a weapon, he took off down the stairs, and nova chased after him despite her owner's plea for her to stop. she wouldn't stop until she was sure he was gone! she only stopped once she got to the edge of the properly, watching him hop the fence and run into the woods in fright.

once she made her way back to the house, she was rewarded with many treats, and even a badge of honor from the community for protecting the house, making her feel like finally, all was right in the world, and she could wear her title with pride.
